  1. Tim Wilken has been tweeting negativity about Shapiro since this story started
  2. Fried chicken, beer and video games show a lack of dedication to maintaining quality physical condition. Atleast the choking part shows frustration over an underachieving season and a lack of hustle. Obviously it's still not the right thing to do. But atleast there's a reason behind it that's somewhat understandable. There's nothing admirable about making 10+ million a year and not doing what you can during the season to stay in top shape. So you are under the impression that no baseball player should drink any beer or eat any fried chicken or play any video games during the season?
  3. Fried chicken = bad but choking teammate is tolerable?
  4. Really, Cubs fans are afraid of that?
  5. Strasburg has a career WHIP below 1.1 and ended the season on a high note. We would need a lot more than an inconsistent middle infielder who cant take a walk. The more intriguing scenario is giving up Baez for one year of Strasburg (as well as the comp picks if he werent brought back). One year of dominant power pitching, and two high end compensation picks, is worth the boom or bust toolsy Baez in my mind. I like Strasburg for Baez a lot. I don't think the Nats would though. It's too much of a risk for Rizzo who may well be on the hot seat this year. Who do the Padres have not name Cashner? Their GM loves to make risky gambles. Baez for Strasburg? Javy Baez?

  8. I requested the quiet car version of this site, when will that happen.
  9. Don't let 2015 fool you, 2016 is too early to be worried about playoffs.
  10. Because we need/want a starter more than a reliever and we're spitballing ideas? Just a thought. Chapman absolutely can and should be starting. I honestly have no idea why so many here don't buy that in this day and age when we've seen several guys convert successfully, none with his kind of talent and many without his health or even size. If you convert him, how many innings do you think he can throw in his first year as a starter? 160-180. Liriano workload with more size, health, youth, and stuff. So 3x his typical workload in his first year? That seems unlikely.

  14. what do the angels have in terms of young pitching?
  15. I'm talking about the actual fielding part. He's never looked comfortable and you can't suggest he looks like god's gift to baseball when he can't field. He's had a couple short stretches of tremendous production at the plate, but he's always looked like a fielding liability.

  17. I think many people range between mildly and wildly optimistic about Soler because he has stretches where he looks like he's pretty much God's gift to baseball. Except that he never looks comfortable in the field.
  18. Not sure how bowtie boy feels about the "intellectual diversity" aspect of this hire. Klentak went to Dartmouth. But he was hired by nepotism king and career baseball executive with a measly degree from Dickinson College.
  19. I ran it through my yahoo sports app on iPhone via free hotel wifi and it worked a lot better than I expected.
  20. [tweet] [/tweet] Ken rosenthal is troubled by the lack of intellectual diversity in mlb hiring. He thinks it is unfair that teams only hire smart guys.
  21. Why does this Sunil guy have his job?
