  1. I think Jason Hammel does a tremendous job with what the Cubs need him to be, which is a 5th starter who pitches like a well above average starter. He gives you quality innings and most of the time a great chance to win the game. No need to start him in the playoffs and no need to get rid of him before next year, when rotation depth will remain an issue. viewtopic.php?p=1953#p1953 :-k :-k :-k :-" :-" :-" Yes, an above average starting pitcher. I realize my stance on this isn't clean, but Hammel is fine.
  2. Last spring my daughter was in rec-league softball and one team had a) the best pitcher (by far) in the league and b) a crazy woman for a coach who was ruthless and also did I mention crazy So the rule was that the same girl couldn't pitch more than 2 consecutive innings, but she would always start this star pitcher in the 1st, 2nd and 4th innings, no matter the score. If her team was winning 12-0, out would come Cy Young to mow your team down. Then, while her girls were hitting, she'd stand behind the backstop and harass the umpire (who was often a 14 year old boy) about the strike zone he was calling. I was that 14yo ump once. That was fun.
  3. Oh they all know what's happening. Any coach of a dynamo youth team is a garbage person and takes pride in one group of clumsy twats beating up on a more clumsy group.
  4. My kid would have quit. She hates losing This is part of why it's important to keep score at young ages. Learning that losing is a thing that happens and doesn't mean the game isn't worth playing. 7 year olds don't learn that.
  5. Because it's not a practice and kids need to learn that winning and losing is part of the game. 7 year olds Dude

  7. I blame all the weird anti-spaghetti people for this travesty. [tweet] [/tweet] this reminds me of skiing in austria when every restaurant, on the mountain or in town, featured spaghetti bolognese. It was so good. They had that and various cheese filled sausages. Anyway, if your pasta is lumpy or the texture is bad it's because you are using bad stuff and/or cooking it wrong. I remember being a dumb kid that didn't like spaghetti but I grew up and all pasta is amazing when done right. I'm going to make linguini and clams this week.
  8. in case you were afraid this case would be crisply played and officiate: [tweet] [/tweet]

Also it is kind of ridiculous to claim anybody is bringing this team down. They are awesome.
  10. I think one of the greatest things is that the biggest offseason acquisition, by far, fell completely on his face, didn't come close to living up to expectations or providing any value. And the team is still better than last year and historically good.
  11. Nobody moves a pitcher up to get him an extra look at a lineup.
  12. soriano and cutler were/are both good and worth their contracts.
  13. Like they changed the name to something else or there's no award for best relief pitcher at all? No reward. There was change at the top of that company and they chose to discontinue the reward. It wasn't the best anyway. It was point based so not always the best won. They need a reward that is voted on for sure. You think voting is the best way to distribute awards to the 'best' players?
  14. The North divisions are stacked and the South still sucks. New England already wrapped up the AFC East. Colin Kaepernick is both tearing his team apart from the inside and igniting their passion to win. 15. Derrick Rose of the NFL wait, what? no Didn't Derrick Rose win the MVP? RGIII is the (injured QB who keeps getting injured) of the NFL just like a lot of other guys.

  19. In my mind, the Bears have historically sucked in prime time but somehow got good at it late in the lovie years and I now think they outperform in night games. So, I hate waiting for them but have relatively high hope for success.
  20. last week was an expected loss, this one is a must win for the "they might not be that bad" theorists.
  21. the next cardinals loss will be very nice
