  2. Well injuries aren't BABIP. You don't typically suffer a lot early in your career and then get all super healthy later on. It's not about a predisposition to get injured but rather a collection of injuries that take a toll.
  3. This talk made me think about the 2003 Braves, who won 101 games and got bounced by the 88-win Cubs. Which made me try to remember Game 5 of that series, of which I could really only remember Borowski closing it out. So I looked it up on B-R and of course Dusty Baker sent Wood out there for the 8th with 106 pitches already thrown and a three-run lead. So basically now I'm just remembering how much I hate Dusty Baker and how much I love how our pitching is being managed this year. I might be crucified for this but in a winner take all game and a very shaky pen, I'm not necessarily opposed to Wood pitching the 8th in that situation. if he hadn't already used Wood (and Prior) like that all season long then I'd be all for him pitching in that situation in an elimination game.
  4. are you for serious? For one, Zach Miller had a couple good games. He's a middling TE. Kevin White has to be fantastic to make this an above average offense. There is no running game, the line remains a huge question. The offensive coordinator is a pud. The head coach is the most conservative coach in the league. I mean, they've had offenses with Forte, Jeffery, Bennett and Marshall struggle to achieve mediocrity.
  5. The definition of uninspiring [tweet] [/tweet]
  6. it would take one early season injury to cutler to put them at the top of the draft

  8. just in time for the paterno worship by who? if you aren't sure be certain to tune in early to that week 3 game
  9. and risk having Bryant fall off the wagon with all that downtime? No thanks I think it's "on the wagon" you can't drink on a wagon it'd be too bumpy
  10. just in time for the paterno worship
  11. not to mention the several millions of parents that name their kid some variation of Muhammed. What's the deal, Mark too bland for you?
  12. Not to second guess Joe, but it's about time he rested Bryant. I wouldn't mind seeing him out of the line up tomorrow as well, then the off day on Thursday, that would give him a nice 3 day rest. and risk having Bryant fall off the wagon with all that downtime? No thanks
  13. this is the stupidest [expletive] to even bother thinking about. Yes robot, the field has better odds than any one individual team, the same as every sport every year. stupidest thing to bother thinking about? nah. it actually should be the main thing anyone thinks about when it comes to the mlb playoffs, lol. wtf? the main thing? No No it should not. It should be in the back of your head as a reminder to not get carried away, or react to negatively to a loss. But the main thing is thinking about the team playing and hopefully winning.
  14. Ummm....NO. Nah, yeah. at least half? Nah They might win 8 with cutler, maybe 3 w/o.
  15. Assuming 7.5 remains over/under for bears wins, I'd have a really hard time taking the over
  16. A professional and seemingly competent 6-10 is predetermined
  17. yeesh, and i thought me having a concert during an NLDS game was bad why would you plan such a thing?! Down under October is actually spring training
  18. Eh, 2nd year. Pace still at least deserves some cautious optimism. My only real complaints so far is completing [expletive] up the White and now McPhee injury situations. I'm never going 100% like any GMs draft. I have no problems with the Marshall, Forte, and Bennett moves. I can't complain about the OL talent anymore, because the Bears just went from a "wait-and-see" OL to an above average group overnight. He's definitely made some questionable moves and we haven't seen much from his draft picks yet other than Goldman, but this was probably going to be a 3-year thing anyway. His regime will be made or broken based on the QB he chooses for the future. Sure, cautious optimism, but that's not the same to me as actually having faith in his tenure. Not much has happened to make me excited about the future, and the present day remains blah.
  19. 3 years 21 million. If I had faith in this front office I'd be excited for this move to help a bad o line. My faith is questioned though and will have to wait to judge.
  20. Nah. They'll either be in the wildcard game or if they win a 1-game playoff and the division, they'd have to go thru the Nats first. So, either way they'd technically have to win a round to get to the Cubs. Cubs get WC winner due to best overall record. it's pretty disingenuous to say the wild card game is "a round" The Cubs won two rounds last year and I will hear nothing to the contrary
  21. I have a hunch that if the Cubs play in and win a World Series he may make more money than if they don't but its just a hunch. Yeah, no reason for him to jump on it yet. If they win it all, it's insane how much of a better deal he'll get. the extension has been agreed to but is being held back in case of a playoff flop to reassure fans in the offseason. Need the PR timing if that happens.
  22. No but I'm sure I read a thousand blogs like that from guys making peanuts writing for techie stoners.
  23. I do not think laying into the best team in baseball for a sloppy game in early September accomplishes what you think it would accomplish.
  24. For a first. Ridiculous
  25. Yeah, Tennessee fans are really, really bad about the whole "Vols are back, baby!" thing every single damn year. Even when Tennessee was successfully back in the late 90's, the rest of the league was an absolute wasteland other than Florida, whom they've only beaten 3 times in the last 23 years It's not a league
