  1. Really bad but yeah, it's preseason. And from what I've seen on Twitter, it sounds like the Broncos were inexplicably playing off something resembling a real game plan in week 1 of the preseason. I don't get that last point at all.
  2. I wish depth was the only concern with the line.
  3. My next house gets bidets
  4. How would you scrape your hand on poo?
  5. Magary strikes again
  6. so did some of the players.
  7. I'm built like a hammer throwing, handballin' water polo player.
  8. I was at Game 5 in Atlanta in 2003 and that was a very very fun night. funnest ever
  9. I don't really think it's as big of a distraction as you think. Pretty sure I read that Rizzo didn't even know until asked about it yesterday that La Stella hadn't reported. The Cubs aren't in a race for the division...there's no pressure on them right at the moment. I don't think it's all that urgent. Having La Stella available is better for the team than not having him available. Yeah, I can't imagine why they'd have to shut him down, or how that would help anything.
  10. hey man, that whole leaf lettuce legit crunches when you bite into it!
  11. The NFL isn't really a league where the "I don't want to go to X city" even happens all that often. The scarcity of guaranteed money means the players don't really have that same kind of power to picky like other sports. I mean, some in demand guys hit free agency every year, but they seem far more worried about getting every dollar they can while they're still able to play than they are about location. No, but there is more of a "I don't want to play in that system" thing at play. Conveniently though if a team runs a certain system they may not want that player either.
  12. The specific anti-Cutler stupidity aside, there's nothing that unique about Bears fans stupidity. Yes, they are obsessed with the one year they won it unlike, say, the Jets, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that there is a 17 year difference in those seasons, and that Bears team was historically great. You can be in your 30s and actually remember that team. If you were 8 when the Jets won you'd be approaching 60. I think a fan base like Washington is at least as obsessed with the past as Bears fans, if not just one specific team since they won 3 super bowls. Miami is sort of a similar situation but they don't actually have fans to obsess over their team. Their fans are absolutely delusional monstrosities, just in a different, and less abundant way.
  13. I made that comment not even really thinking about the on-field product. I survived the 90s Bears, which, as been alluded to here already, featured far more incompetent teams. Rather it's the fact that nobody wants to [expletive] play here, which should never happen with a big-market, historic franchise. The mishandling of players - running them out of town, the mind-boggling stupidity of the casual fanbase with the neverending Cutler crusade, relentlessly killing the one guy who always shows up to camp in shape, goes about his business, has his [expletive] together, and plays decently enough. Still, with all that said, I could never actually bail. It's just sometimes I have this utopian fantasy where Jay gets traded to a team with some pieces in place like Houston or the Rams, wins a Super Bowl, and I have the most glorious Bears bonfire ever as retribution. And I feel absolutely disgusting for feeling that way, believe me. Is this an actual narrative? I don't recall us having any trouble getting free agents to sign here or anything along those lines. And I'd imagine it's one of the more desirable cities to play in in the league among most players. I don't think it's entirely true but they have missed out on guys they went hard after, with the most prominent examples probably Bennett's brother and then Martellus wanting to get the hell out of dodge. I think what they have in place is a reasonably well respected group, between Pace and Fox and to a lesser extent Fangio. But nobody is impressed by them or anything about this team. The strength coach and hippy did a bang up job of gutting this organization. Pace brought in a well respected Baltimore guy but he's already left and now this staff is nothing but old time Bears people and some Saints guys + Fox. It's complete blah.
  14. so most likely auto erotic asphyxiation
  15. looks like quite a few people also used the word, sickened. Is that common for death announcements or is there a story here about how he died?
  16. It just randomly sounds weird and gross, DESPITE being the literal description of the sandwich. Relax. Hot Ham And Cheese Where's the weird and gross part? I think you're flying solo sofa
  17. hot ham and cheese is good
  18. Cause baseball was always such a hard mans game
  19. Or a normal seal
  20. If LaStella won't report to the minors, we're going to have to search for a lefty bat because we won't have LaStella on the major league roster... Cubs insisting he makes a token AAA appearance before activation
  21. That wasn't my read on the quotes
  22. Yeah, that was a really weird tangent, even for UMFan. How is that weird? I'm just wondering what connections Z still has with the Cubs. I'm not saying he's not welcome. It was more a comment on how much the entire org has changed since he left. Also I'll take jerseys overall point but Billy Williams is a really strange example considering he's a Hall of Famer who has been synonymous with the Cubs as long as I can remember while Z is non HOF guy that left on bad terms less than 5 years ago. Sports alumni return all the time without a close playing relationship to the current roster. That is the point. This happens all the time. The fact that you wonder who opened the door is bizarre. Alumni return. That's what alumni do.
  23. if you really need an answer to "who opened the door" then I would start with the clubhouse workers/attendants (who probably have not turned over) and then consider the various fellow Venezualans on the team (Miggy/Willson/Rondon) and then reach further out to guys he played with in his last season in the majors with Miami. You ask for miracles Theo, I give you one Christopher B. Coghlan.
  24. This is a ridiculous question. Ok? I'm just saying who does Z even know in the Cubs org anymore. It feels like the whole org turned over since he left. And most of them turned over since Billie Williams left as well. Sports team alumni return without current personal relationships being the reason.
