  1. Neither of those things are contagious, and losing that frequently, for that long amount of time, puts a serious dent in any "they have more talent" claim.
  2. I'm guessing because the Cubs have had about a half dozen chances to give him a starting job and never do it, and despite performing well in the role during limited duty, they keep saying they value him coming out of the bullpen.
  3. The Nets don't have more talent than anybody. They're 3-37. What kind of logic is that? They most certaintly do have talent and moreso then New York. The records was based on their best talent being injured and non-effective at the beginning of the year. Beginning of the year? They've lost 9 in a row, and before that it was 10.
  4. I hope so as well, unfortunately hope is all we got. It's tough enough to a get a good performing prospect to translate into good performance in the majors, but it's really tough to turn an underperformer into a good one, and I don't like the idea of hoping for that to be a key for your season.
  5. He had a deceptively small ERA for about 25 innings in 2008, despite not pitching all that well in reality.
  6. A Cubs HOF has been specified by TPTB since the first mentions of a "triangle building" back in 2001. They can't need more than 10' x 10' room to house a Cubs HOF.
  7. No team is set with a guy coming off surgery who is going to miss at least the first month of the season. And it remains to be seen if they are set with Randy Wells. He also lists 2 terrible pitchers and an inconsistent one battling for the 5th spot. A quality starter would not be an extravagance. This team wasn't good enough to win last year with Rich Harden on the team, now they have lost him, and added Carlos Freaking Silva, which means they are that much worse.
  8. Wade Phillips got a three year extension.
  9. I think lots of people make that connection, nostalgic Yankees fans much moreso than most.
  10. How many people drive to the bars in the area? I doubt they want to promote more driving to bars.
  11. Lou is selective when it comes to hating guys who walk too many hitters, he didn't notice it with Grabow or Heilman, so I doubt he'll care about another veteran acquisition.
  12. He's been touted by some as the guy who coaxed one great year out of Anderson in Cleveland.
  13. underboob

  15. I think it was something like they were hoping that doing nothing would work, and when it didn't, they cut him.
  16. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft10/insider/news/story?id=4841297 Since Bears fans don't have much to care about for this year's draft, here are names that Kiper is highlighting for 2011.
  17. I'm guessing it would eliminate the current ramps and involve pathways to and from the triangle building That drawing has room for 5 levels of parking, which would mean 5 times as much parking, as well as use of the footprint of the current building (that building is still there, right?). That's still not enough for general public parking, but would put a dent in the season ticket holders.
  18. That's fine if you disagree, just realize you are wrong.
  19. short for Chandler
  20. Disagree. The style of play requires fielding a no weak link defense and a top not RB, and both of those things are very cap unfriendly. Defense requires crazy guys going 100% and throwing their bodies around. That leads to injuries and it leads to guys deteriorating quickly. QBs are protected. They get hit, but the great ones have very long careers that produce sustained success. RB's come and go, defenses are expensive to maintain, both of those things lead to cap problems that a franchise QB does not. It is precisely that mentality that leads to cap problems that you blame for the Titans decline.
  21. That doesn't really compare to the stretch of success that Indy, New England and Philly, and it helps that Tennessee had a pro bowl caliber QB on the roster.
  22. I think there's two things. As you say, it has to be an elite defense, not just very good, but also, it's no way to win consistently. You can put together a great year, maybe two, with a defense and run the ball mentality, but that's about it. This is what I was most annoyed with Urlacher's statements earlier this year. He laments that they aren't a run the ball and win with defense team anymore, saying that it worked with Orton. The problem, of course, is it didn't work with Orton and they are no longer a very good defense, let alone elite. That was about a 1.5 year window closed abrubtly.
  23. You mean like where it is, or what it would look like when done? Both, so thanks for the drawing and link. That thing looks amazing. I think if done right it could be a great addition. If it's just a bland parking garage with a couple concession stands, it will be lame. But that's all wasted real estate right now anyway.
