  1. If Crane Kenney is involved in negotiations that is probably not a bad thing. Of all the employees of the Cubs he's probably the most qualified to negotiate something. He can utlize all the input from the other Cubs employees as far as rating their own prospects.
  2. This thread epitomizes all that is wrong with NSBB these days. Would somebody please think of the children?!?!?
  3. Are you sure that's what he said? Any chance you are exaggerating a bit, because that is idiotic and not something I would assume Gammons would say. It's about the Red Sox. Gammons fanboyism knows no bounds when it comes to them and his pal Larry. This and the fact that Gammons was always a clown and then got a respite for having a stroke or something. I remember Gammons as one of the first journalists I LOLed at consistently 10-15 years ago. Gammons was always way off when it came to talking about imminent trades that never materialized, but he was always up on things like prospects and their worth long before anybody else in mainstream baseball media acknowledged that prospects had value. He's clearly a Red Sox homer in that he would focus on them and probably sympathize with their side of a situation, but him making such asinine statements as this indicates his brain suffered some sort of damage, or he just pores on the idiotic homer schtick more when talking to local Boston radio.

  5. Those are a couple good points, but it is still a little disconcerting that Keith keeps having the same issues that plagued him last year. Phoenix is atrocious, and that Bolland goal was funny.
  6. On the other hand, maybe these Boston fans are making a lot of sense. some of that link may be NSFW

  8. Well, there's no way the contract talks aren't a distraction for Forte. The guy could go down tomorrow with a career ending injury and never sign the sort of life altering contract that he's bound to get. Forte also said something silly when he questioned why the Bears would pay him the $8m he'd get from a franchise tag when they won't give him a deal that averages $8m (because they think you only have a couple years left Matt). But being a distraction doesn't mean you play worse. And really, all he's saying is "hey fans you know what, if we lose you should blame management for not paying guys and causing distractions." He's putting pressure on management.
  9. I saw what he had to say and didn't have much of a problem with it. My sense is that Briggs is more or less falling on his sword for the sake of some underpaid teammates. I think his request for an extension is more about presssuring management to get Forte done along with a couple others. He's comfortable so he really has nothing to lose. And other than his request for his own extension, he's not saying anything crazy.
  10. I have no idea how you could possibly say that.
  11. I'm fairly certain that if you wait to see how this game plays out, you will no longer be able to trade him this season.
  12. That is an absurdly ridiculous statement. This year, sure. But this is the NFL, there is absolutely no reason why they couldn't be right back in it next season. Forte may not be worth a damn in two years. Do you honestly think if Jerry Angelo is still the GM he's going to all the sudden be aggressive at drafting/signing offensive weapons? He's had 3 years to build around Jay Cutler and he's given us....Roy Williams and Marion Barber. He's been aggressive in the past. I honestly think that if they traded Forte for 2 #1s there is no way they could take 2 seasons to get back on their feet as an organization.

  14. I think he's this valuable because they have a passing game that utilizes the RB, but also because they don't have anything but okay receivers to go along with it, and don't have a line that can pass block enough to go deep more often.
  15. I wouldn't I would. Unless he's a hall of famer in the making Forte might not have a lot of miles left on those legs. For cap purposes, a franchise tag this offseason and then letting him go might be the right decision, if not a trade before then.
  16. I don't see the problem. The game is going to be played at 1pm eastern, just like most games. It doesn't do them a whole lot of good to spend a few days getting acclimated to London time in a strange locale for one game. You might as well stay home with all of your own medical and training equipment. Tampa claims they struggled last time because of traveling on Friday, but they sucked balls that year and lost big to New England. They could have done that anywhere. I see no advantage to spending the week there. When you travel for business and go straight to work following the flight, that can mess with you. When you take a charter flight with first class seating for all and nothing to do immediately upon arrival. You are going to be fine.
  17. I don't put too much stock in that game. Tampa always manages a split with New Orleans, even when they are 3-13.
  18. bears are 1 point favorites
  19. There's a reason Goldstein isn't a businessman, then. i wish my school offered business 101
  20. In a one off event like a football game it really shouldn't have much of an effect. They get a bye week after this trip.
  21. All they want is McNutt? Do it yesterday.

  23. don't blame theo
  24. the point is they can't just choose to keep him upright. They aren't good at blocking and they aren't good at receiving. They aren't good at gaining yards and they aren't good at scoring. Get a better receiver and things will be a little better.
  25. Getting to the red zone is a bigger problem than getting in. They are in the bottom half of teams in yardage and average at Red Zone conversion.
