  1. what is #22 doing there to Reid? It seems like he may be performing a cup check.
  2. I don't really buy the notion that better athletes equal better durability.
  3. Who is arguing that Hester is the Bears most important player? Start with the list of people who hate Cutler.
  4. No, it'll probably take another decade.
  5. http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2011/10/in-the-galaxy-of-equivocating-slobs-peter-king-is-one.html Peter King and Drew Magary weigh in on the coach fight, King thinks that coaches should wear suits to keep them in-line.
  6. To an extent. But he's lobbied for things like shorter drops and realizing what they can and cannot do. As I said, it may be reading between the lines, but when you combine the fact that Marshall is certifiably crazy with what Cutler has said when asked about him, it seems to me that at the very least he's not recommending the guy to management.
  7. I'd rather a manager be removed from the dugout when his team is at bat; less chance he'd screw up. The thing I care about is knowing how to handle a pitching staff. Beyond that, just be a in a trance for all I care. Maybe in the first 6 innings. It can be very helpful to have a manager make good decisions in the last 3 innings. Sure it can be. If they make smart moves it feels great. But the problem is the more they try to do in the name of "making things happen", instead of just letting the players play baseball, the more it can hurt the team. I'm just saying that what might be called overmanaging is very useful at the end of close games. Where mangers get into trouble is that they try to apply those principles throughout an entire game. Bunting before the 8th inning for example should pretty much never be done by a non-pitcher. In the 8th or 9th the math would expand the number of potential bunting situations greatly. And I'm just saying that stuff is only useful when it works, and a lot of it is actually very harmful to the team.
  8. CSN needs to stop putting that Patrick Mooney guy on TV. He's not good at it.
  9. Really? Why? It was the consensus before Peyton got hurt that he was just the coach in name and that entire team revolved around Manning. He's barely a coach.
  10. Have there? Any links to that? The only reason I could see people thinking this way was the incident when they played each other last year where Marshall got a first down and tossed the ball to Cutler on the sidelines, but from all indications, that was done in good fun not as a means of antagonizing Cutler. Nothing to do with that. He's been asked on more than one occasion specifically about bringing Marshall here and he's been pretty ho-hum on the idea.
  11. Didn't they have way too few rest days early last season?
  12. I think that would make Angelo is more against the idea of acquiring him.
  13. Have there? Any links to that? I'm probably reading between the lines, but when asked about him Cutler has been hesitent to say much positive, other than the obvious that he can have a big impact. It seems to me he grew tired of his act. But maybe he just didn't want to rock the boat in an organization that insists their WR position is solid.

  15. I like the idea of giving up a big pick for Marshall, other than the fact that there are indications Cutler has been against the idea.
  16. As terrible as Miami is and as lost as their season is, I'm not sure why they'd want an older safety. Their issues are mostly on the offensive side of the ball as well.
  17. Fine with me. I don't understand how you can play as poorly as he played last week, and then have the type of reaction he had to being demoted this week. I'm guessing this is part of the reason why he didn't dress, because he turned into captain sulk last week.
  18. The Astros should be considered like the other expansion teams for all intents and purposes. They are one of the least interesting franchises out there.
  19. I actually put on this race for a second while surfing the early games and it was apparently shortly after they airlifted Wheldon to the hospital. That's a damn shame. Is Elway going to get his teeth back?
  20. The Bears went from a complete mess to "what do they do now?" in a week. After tonight, you want the line combo to stick, but you have to remember Gabe Carimi will be back (probably after the bye). I think you gotta get him in there. He is the most talented player the Bears have on the OL. Interesting move would be to put Carimi at LT and benching J'Marcus Webb, but he played well enough yesterday to stick too. Also, what do you do about Paea? Does he stay in the rotation over Big Toe? I am assuming the safeties stay the same, but you can't leave Chris Harris inactive every game. Roach was pretty good last night too at SLB. Hopefully, the coaching decisions are more like these and less of who's playing RT, RG, FS, SS, DT, DE. I'm not sure what they saw in practice, but it's pretty obvious Paea can play in the NFL and have a positive impact. I'm not sure how he can be taken out of the rotation. I can take or leave Chris Harris. The offensive line was mostly helped by having 2 tight ends and a running back helping out. They were okay, but I wouldn't hesitate to move a better guy in there. That said, I don't think Carimi at LT works right now.
  21. In what way? I think he looked better last week than he looked this week, and last week he was running for his life.
  22. Crawford's contract gets better if the Red Sox send some money over, but purely on each contract as it is now I don't think Crawford's is that much better than Soriano's. Crawford has more value than Soriano right this minute yes, but he's already 30 and is signed for the next six years at more money each year (I think) than any one of Soriano's. I could see the argument that it's better to push back the awful years that are inevitable for both players, but the risk is that there will be more (both in terms of cost and length) for Crawford. Crawford isn't quite the predictable disaster that Soriano was.
  23. You're also getting the two better players.
