    I don't buy that. The guy wanted 3 years for the stability. He's never been about maxing out.

    Come on now, his worst season in the last three is equivalent to Soto's best year ever. And Prince is younger. Soto made a big splash in year one, and hasn't been back to that level since. Prince was 2 years younger when he made a bigger splash, and he's exceeded that level twice since.

    he'll most likely be worth 25 mil per year for 4 of those years. i'd do both in a heartbeat. He's been worth less than 15 million in half of his seasons, including 2 of the last 4. I'd probably grit my teeth at 6/150 depending on what else happens, but it would not be "good" deal for the Cubs. He was only 24 in the first one of those years. I'd hardly hold it against him.

    I know he's a dickbag and the Chiefs offense has sucked this year, but I'd take Haley as the Bears OC in a heartbeat. If for nothing than to see him and Cutler get into a fistfight about 5 practices in to training camp. Seriously, though, his track record as an offensive coach is pretty good. I'd take him over Martz. I would be 100% on board.

    It's definitely an advantage for an AL team, if that AL team chooses to actually pony up the dough. The Yankees, Red Sox and Angels are the three biggest AL spenders, I believe, and it doesn't appear any of them are involved. It remains to be seen if Seattle, Texas and Toronto are as willing to use the "we can hide him at DH in 2019" clause.

    Really? I thought we heard quite a bit about MIL having interest. The names I recall were LAA, PHI and MIL. One of my favorite memories was the walk off HR he hit against MIL, I was listening on XM while driving down the shore. The wife was asleep and I woke her up with my yelp of joy.

    I'd like to see something like an option that gets guaranteed for year 6 if he finishes in the top 3 in MVP voting in any 2 years during the contract, or wins it in any 1 year. If Prince is your MVP it means 2 things, he had a hell of a year, and the Cubs as a team made the playoffs. If that happens then you have to be even more willing to take on a potentially grossly overpaid season at the back-end of the deal.

    I highly doubt that. A mediocre 30 year old 1B (which he'd be in a few years) is going to be a prime candidate to be replaced if the team is seriously building a contender.

    I don't see much room for growth in a 28 year mediocre 1B like Loney.

    I certainly do not prefer Loney to Fielder, I said if we don't or can't sign Fielder. That being said it wouldnt surprise me if by year five or six of a possible Fielder contract that Loney would be more productive. Loney very well could be a Mark Grace type player for us. Almost identical, actually and thats with no more development. Hes not a difference maker or anything, but is pretty useful. I'm going to have to call shenanigans on this nonsense. Loney is not Mark Grace. I'm no huge Grace fan, but he was much better than Loney.

    I think the Bears beat Oakland easily with Cutler. He's got 2 more years on his deal at a very favorable price. There's probably no need to act fast, but I would strongly suggest they get a deal done by midseason next year. If there's any silver lining to this, it's the fact that any remaining doubts about Cutler's value to this team have been removed. They'll get a deal done. I would bet there are tremendous doubts from the naysayers about a) his durability, b) his desire to play/win, c) his worthiness for a big franchise QB contract. Hell, there were Peyton Manning doubters until well after he won a SB. People will comment about how Cutler has finished back to back seasons injured.

    The entire AFC West is a joke. They have been playing nothing but 2nd class teams.

    Vogelbach was signed and got 27 at-bats at rookie league this year. Ah, cool. Hopefully he'll be ready to do his Prince Fielder impersonation by the time Prince is getting paid to be mediocre.

    My guess is they would go with McCown for now and save Enderle for the final game.

    Okay, they aren't that good of an offense though. Sanchez is pretty crappy but he always seems to throw 2-4 TD per game somehow. Anyway, the Jets are the closest thing they've faced to an NFL offense this past month or so, and the next time they will lose. Like this weekend vs New England.

    If that happens, I am going to build and or create a church of Tebow and pray there every day. Packers/Broncos would be one hell of a game, I think. That would be a horrible game. The next time Denver plays an NFL offense they are screwed. If the Jets aren't an NFL offense, then there are about 4 NFL offenses Huh? The Jets are probably behind the Bears in yards per game.

    It's draft placement time, don't screw this bad boy up. All the more reason to get rid of Barber. He's probably going to score a bunch of touchdowns and win games for us now to make up for his unforgivable boneheaded mistakes yesterday. The Bears will be lucky to score more than 10 points in any remaining game this season.

    I think it's up to the Japanese team to accept a serious bid. An MLB team that does not negotiate in good faith will also damage its reputation. There should be some money at risk though, because otherwise, what's to stop someone likeTampa Bay or Toronto to offer an insane posting fee and then never offer a serious contract to block the Yankees and Red Sox. They can offer it, but the other team doesn't have to accept it. It's in the Japanese teams' best interest to make sure the winning bidder is seriously attempting to sign the player. Plus, Tampa might not have $50 million in cash available to put into escrow.
