    Longer than what the law in NY allows. What's so unrealistic about it? A person who routinely rapes a 10 year old does so with the knowledge that they can essentially scare the person into not telling on them. Expecting that person to come forward within a couple years is crazy. The SOL is practically a weapon used by the perpetrator. If you can go back and use new evidence from murders long ago, why the heck is it unrealistic to do so with child rape?

    Retweeted by Ace Maybe I'm just stating the obvious but my thought was he was talking about the chances of getting theo when the GM search process started. But then if he's saying that, he's saying the Cubs have a better than 2% chance of getting Darvish? Maybe somebody who's paid to write should learn how to write. I assumed that's how he meant it as well. Sort of like, nobody thought they'd get Theo back in September.

    I love doc emrick. He made Devils games enjoyable to watch. I think he's better than Foley (who I think lost a little bit off his fastball but is still quite good).

    Are you responding to me? Because I don't know how a team being good on offense is somehow a rebuttal for "Theo likes players with well rounded skillsets." Let me ask you this, how many one dimensional sluggers can you name that Theo Epstein acquired during his tenure in Boston? David Ortiz might've counted if he ever played the field, but he doesn't... so Victor Martinez, maybe? That year Wily Mo Pena was their 4th OF? The one year deal for Todd Walker in Theo's first offseason? You don't see Theo sign many guys who don't contribute in multiple ways. and yet you are supporting the notion of acquiring coco. your whole post was supporting the notion that theo goes after defensive guys specifically:

    So, if this drug thing turns huge, I could see it going one of two ways. Either Jerry feels obligated to make good this offseason and get a much better team on the field for his one last chance, or Virginia feels embarrassed for her organization's ties to the story and cleans house with hopes for one last run at success while she's alive.

    Trying to figure out signs that he couldn't say. Caught wind of a meeting between Cubs brass and Boras? And he can't say either because he's not sure it's about Fielder, or because a source asked him not to say any more than that? I can't imagine "not being sure if it was about Fielder" would be a reason to be so sneaky.

    Boston ranked #1 in runs scored four times during Theo's tenure, they never ranked lower than 6 and were 3rd of better every season aside from the 6 ranking. Their rankings for OBP and SLG are pretty much the same. Don't even try to talk nonsense about Theo being obsessed with defenders.

    We aren't talking about guys with well rounded skillsets. We are talking about one dimensional players whose dimension isn't nearly as important as the one they don't have. For the sake of arguement, if these were rounded skillet guys, that type of thing tends to work out better when you already have Manny, Papi, Damon, Drew, and Pedro. Yeah, forget for a moment that half (or more) of the guys rob listed were and/or are very good hitters, they had a solid lineup top to bottom. You can fit in the cheap defender when you already score lots of runs.

    And they spent half the time talking about how hockey fans complain about a lack of coverage on ESPN. So meta. Point taken. It's just a shame that they couldn't put hockey on at least one of their networks. Even the Ocho would be better than the sparse coverage on VS. Disagree. NHL chose NBC/Versus precisely because being shown on ESPN 2 only is crap. NBC Sports is making a large investment in the future and NHL is along for the ride with only SNF as real competition.

    Defense and baserunning is the new walks (although walks are certainly still welcome). Get with the program already. Great let's be the 75 win A's or the 65 win Mariners The key is to go all-in.

    Matsuzaka was far more hyped than Darvish. Darvish was more hyped at a younger age, but Matsuzaka's setbacks diluted some of the hype surrounding Darvish is the past 2 years.

    But Barber is pretty stupid and it seems the coaches didn't do enough to make sure he knew to stay in bounds, or put a smarter player in there to have him stay in bounds.

    My interpretation of that play was he was sent in motion to the outside and the ball was quickly snapped to take advantage of how wide open he was. You can't go up to the line in motion, you have to go up and bet set before the ball is snapped.

    You're Marion Barber hatred is amusing. Considering he had a major part in blowing the last 2 games which is going to keep us out of the playoffs, how am I supposed to feel towards him? Well that's a stretch. Even if gets a TD in the Chiefs game, that's no assurance we win. Roy Williams could've made a TD catch in that game too. Putting that game on Barber is really looking for something. The reason the Bears may miss the playoffs are not because of Marion Barber. The guy has made a few mistakes lately, but overall, has been a quality backup RB. What did he do in the KC game that is a problem?
