  1. 4/14m, with 7 guaranteed. That's a $3.5m cap hit on Bush, plus the ~$7.5m cap hit currently on Forte's franchise tag.
  2. Welp, the Bears signed Michael Bush. That is certainly interesting. Now they have a hell of a lot of money tied into backup QB and backup RB.
  3. I can't really think of any worthwhile young player that got inordinately blocked from contributing in the recent generation of Cubs teams. Soto was blocked momentarily, but that one changed in a hurry. The problem was a lack of worthwhile young players, not an unwillingness to use them.
  4. Nobody said it's difficult to see the plan. The plan is plainly obvious. Unfortunately the media and fans didn't give a crap about 2012, in fact many/most openly pleaded for them to completely blow it up and only worry about 2-4 years from now, so they completely relieved any pressure on management to try in 2012. But the future is a long time from now and it would have been nice if they tried now as well.
  5. Yeah, I didn't really have a problem with it. I've always advocated going after guys like Ian Stewart and Chris Volstad, so if they end up horrible I won't be too angry. To me, this path is better than repeating history and coming up with a patchwork of veterans to stretch to 85 wins, which realistically is all we could have done without severely hampering Epstein's long-term vision. There is no repeating history. The recent history has been disapointing because their GM took a haphazard and archaic approaching to maintaining the system. There is no reason why they couldn't have done more in 2012 and still have accomplished plenty of long-term visioneering. The media was all too willing to embrace the tanking of this season which just made it all that much more easy for the organization to choose that way.
  6. That is a completely meaningless statement. It means that if they get any offense at all, the pitching will be good enough to at least threaten .500 which might be good enough for 2nd place. I didn't realize that was so hard to figure out. Sorry. It's not hard to figure out, it's meaningless. What is "any offense at all" anyway? The pitching shouldn't kill them, but it's not good enough to cover for a below average offense. It's not like they are locked into some level of pitching. There is no "should". It's a pretty wide margin of potential results out of that group. They've got several guys who could easily bomb out. They have a handful of guys who could be really good. The entire staff is built around the idea of guys being better than what they were last year. A noble idea, but hardly a lock for anything.
  7. I don't think it takes a lot of guts. I think it's kind of a dick move on their part to throwaway 2012. It's more of a cop out than anything. They could have tried to build a contender in 2012 while simultaneously focusing on the future. Their revenues are more or less locked in for 2012, and there is a honeymoon period with the new regime. They can bomb this season and blame the previous regime for letting things get so bad that they were "forced" to take a dive. It's actually very easy to build a team that will be good in a few years if you don't care about what your team looks like today. This didn't have to happen.
  8. Seems to me that a pitcher who is adding a little something more, either in terms of MPH or "torque" as you say, is just as suspectible to doing worse himself than overpowering the hitter. If you throw your breaking pitch one way all game it's probably not good to try overthrowing it when the results really really matter.
  9. No need for the if. They were doing it. Were told to stop and refused to stop. They deserve to be hit simply by the immense idiocy pouring out of that franchise. I haven't and won't argue that they shouldn't be punished, I just think the moral outrage is being overblown i.e. "they have no souls!" or with fans of other teams pretending like their players would never have taken part in something like this because their brutes are far classier than the brutes on the Saints. The moral outrage is uncalled for. Everybody has done this in one way shape or form. Where the Saints get in trouble is with their incredible stupidity to continue the practice after being specifically told to stop.
  10. No need for the if. They were doing it. Were told to stop and refused to stop. They deserve to be hit simply by the immense idiocy pouring out of that franchise.
  11. Real low or real stupid? Well if they win 72 and significantly outperform his expections presumably he would be very happy with the new regime and therefore I wouldn't call his plan real stupid at all. He didn't really call his plan stupid. He called his expectations stupid, seeing as how that's what was referred to as "real low" in the original post. And his expectations were deliberately set really low so as to make it an easy go to hurdle. So if you say the expectations are stupid you are saying his plan to deliberately set those plans low is stupid.
  12. He reduced the Ben's suspension after directly sending a statement about his ability to suspend people even without an arrest or conviction.
  13. I would kill for average at this point. Don't see it.
  14. buffalo signs mark anderson to big deal, safe to say they won't draft a DE in the 1st?
  15. Mostly because their horrible QB sucked.
  16. Right, but the Saints were also complicit in straight up cheating, warned repeatedly not to do it and completely ignored those warnings, so, well, this happens.
  17. Sanchez's team has won a hell of a lot more than Tebow's.
  18. I think there's a massive difference there. One an unproven off the field accusation that's being pretty vehemently denied. The other is an in-game program for injuring other players, under a commissioner that has made reducing injury a major focus of his "administration". There is a massive difference, I was just wondering about how he may be leaning.
  19. You don't let him in the building or let him make any moves, or have any conversations with personel. So does he get to work between now and the opening game? I doubt it. The NFL operating season "started" with free agency didn't it? Does a player that suspending for the first few games of the season get to participate in OTA's and training camp? I honestly don't know. Payton's is effective April 1st, so I would assume the others are as well.
  20. So, did Roger get it out of his system or is he on a suspenion high and ready to go after Marshall?
  21. You don't let him in the building or let him make any moves, or have any conversations with personel.
  22. It's going to be a circus. People are already calling for Sanchez's head on weekly basis. I just love the idea of recruiting Manning, then extending Sanchez to apologize for the flirtation and make clear Sanchez is their QB, then trading for Tebow and basically handing the fans somebody to latch onto because they've had nobody to prefer over Sanchez yet.
  23. I wonder if Payton will be able to run practices and such and just not coach on Sundays? Or if he can't even be at the facility for a year? I don't see how they can swing that. If he's suspended he's suspended.
  24. tebow in ny following the crash and burn of linsanity is entertaining
  25. hahahaha
