  3. last team the cubs played at wrigley last year Sure, but that's not the point. Nobody's looking at that sign in the offseason, why bother changing it in the offseason? But why was it Brewers centric in the first place? I've seen them sort of tease opposing teams, but that looks like an ad you'd actually see in Milwaukee.
  4. Yeah, the age makes me less excited about the deal, but are corners really that likely to drop off considerably in their early 30s? My biggest concern is that all three of Claiborne/Fitzpatrick/Jenkins will be off the board by the time the Titans are on the clock, leaving us with Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner as our top 2 corners this year (and a middle of the road FA signing we'd likely make). Maybe I'm being swayed by need too much, but a third rounder for a guy who just turned 31 doesn't seem like a bad deal at all. Unless he's already started showing signs of decline, which I guess is what I'm asking. After RBs, yes, I'd say corners are the most likely to drop off in their early 30's. It's a straight up athleticism position where a step is all it takes.
  5. What's with the Brewers centric Miller ad?
  6. So much hilarity. I always kind of liked Donovan, but he's really shown himself to be quite the tool since leaving Philly, imo. He was unfairly slaughtered in Philly and has done nothing since to prove his doubters wrong.
  7. U G L Y You ain't got no alibi You're ugly
  8. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/29/mcnabb-says-robert-griffin-iii-doesnt-fit-with-shanahans-offense/ McNabb thinks Washington will fail with RGIII. He bases this on the theory that Washington wasn't able to tailor their offense around his skills, and that Shanahan has lost more than he's won with every QB since Elway (but doesn't include himself on the list).
  9. If this team was any good it would be kind of cool to have a pitcher like Wells available for duty in AAA.
  10. I certainly wouldn't want to give up a 3rd round pick for a 30-something CB unless he's a clear-cut elite defensive back, and I really don't think Samuel is anything like that anymore.

  12. Ha, yeah. The Colts pick is a mortal, ahem, Luck . . . boooooooooo
  13. Forget the Tokyo game, did people realize the Marlins open with a 1-game series at home against STL? If Miami doesn't hit a HR in that game we'll have to wait almost 2 weeks for their next home game.
  14. well, it showed up on espn mobile this morning
  15. There's a headline about Cespedes's HR. But yes, ESPN is notorious for ignoring stories they aren't broadcasting themselves, unless it's too huge to avoid.
  16. http://www.cnnsi.com/2012/baseball/mlb/03/28/si.mlb.2012.preview/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_t11_a0 SI has the Cubs at 66-96.
  17. 2 really great things just happened
  18. I've always wondered why this never came up as a solution myself. I guess the NFL thinks there would be too many ties that way, and the players definitely don't seem to want to play multiple OT's like there are in other sports. But it makes sense, and it would almost completely ensure that both teams would get the ball (if you let a team control the ball for 8 minutes even with say 2 timeouts, you have less of a case for saying you didn't get a chance). I see nothing about that that makes sense.
  19. It is my position that all the whining about "fair shots" in overtime is a nonsensical waste of time.
  20. for me any big money prospect who is not pitching in camp and is unable to start the season with a team is a red flag
  21. There is no one critical possession, any possession is critical in sudden death. And they are not guaranteed by any means to win on that opening possession. Both teams do get a shot, unless you give up a touchdown. Starting OT on defense doesn't = not having a shot.
  22. their predecessors were utterly incompetent, they don't need to be the best in the business to improve the organization.
  23. I don't like the idea of giving a team, who just failed to stop their opponent in any way, a mandatory 4-down drive all the way down the field to try to make up for their failure. You just gave a team that failed to win in regulation an offensive possession though. If it's a game with two horrible defenses, why should one benefit from a coin toss? One would benefit because there has to be an end. There's no reason why we need to keep making up reasons for the game to be extended. Coin tosses are not some sort travesty epic proportions that need to be remedied.
  24. Maples not being healthy is common knowledge? What's the issue?
