Maybe they'll actually see him throw the ball and maybe some more challenging field work. They should bring some pitchers with them lol Id love to see how he fares against Carpenter or Beliveau. They have been pitching in the AFL with some success. I guess that makes to much sense though.

Wow, that's a serious step up from McLeod doing it. I guess we are serious about this guy. I guess they'll be looking at Jorge Soler while they are there as well. Maybe McLeod got a look at Cespedes at and earlier workout and decided the bosses needed to take a look.

It sucks to put it mildly. Teams that spend the money and time scouting and developing International talent should be allowed to sign that talent. Whats the point in pouring money into building a Dominican academy when we wont be able to sign the talent we develop there. We'd basically be developing talent for other teams. I'm anxious to see the details of an international floor/cap but it sounds like it could be a huge roadblock to our international efforts.

If it's just a tax I'm alright with that I guess, but there was some talk that there would be a tax the first year and then you'd lose your first pick on the next offense. I'd also be interested in seeing what they consider "way over". Also very nervous about the international floor/ceiling on international signings. Not much of a point in building an academy in the Dominican if we aren't allowed to sign the guys we develop there. This CBA could be a terrible hindrance for the Cubs player development efforts going forward. I guess we'll see when the details come out. -

To this day, I don't know why they didn't just try to get some prospects as opposed to a guy whose ceiling was, well, Cesar Izturis. cesar izturis' ceiling was that he would die and we wouldn't have to pay his salary I got a good chuckle out of this.

Why did they originaly move the Brewers over from the AL? They should have just moved them back, at least there's a history there.

Yikes, that's early. luckily I'm on vacation this week so I can catch the presser. In Europe? Otherwise why wouldn't you still be asleep? I'm married and have kids 9am ct is 10 am my time, I have to get up at 730 to get my daughter on the bus. it's 10am not 2 am.

Not really, they will have to do without it as much as we will have to endure it (depending on the balpark). There's no more DH than there was before, thank God. Maybe they'll look at finally getting rid of it and getting back to real baseball.

Why? I'm not sure where I stand yet. The possiblility of 3rd place teams and/or teams with the 5th best record in their league having a chance to win the world series. Thats probably a legit downside. At least there is a downside to wining the wildcard as opposed to the division now.

15 teams in AL 15 teams in NL requires one IL matchup at all times, or else teams would have 3 straight off days while others play series. So there will be more IL games in total or are they just spreading them out more? I'm not a fan of more IL play.

The draft itself? Dec. 8 I remember hearing the Padres were going to wait to receive comp until after the Rule 5 as well.

There will also apparently be Inter-league play on a daily basis. @ChiTribRogers Phil Rogers "We'll have inter-league play every day,'' Selig said. "That's something I didn't like inititally ... but 15/15 will work.'' I don't understand what the 15/15 means.
