    It certainly makes winning a wildcard spot more of a toss-up and winning the division much more appealing I think I like it as well.

    If Ricketts knows seems like someone could leak the damned choice. [expletive] no. Ricketts runs a badass organization. I know, I'd just like to know. I have this sinking feeling its gonna be Alomar or Mckakain (can't spell his name). Don't particularly care for either of those guys. Won't be the end of the world though I guess.

    There's been a lot of hunbub today about the Cubs interviewing Sveum a second time at the GM meetings. What was actually said was that they would have conversations with him since he would be there to talk to the RedSox, but no formal sit down interview. I don't think it means much of anything. He's there, so they are talking to him.

    If I were an Astros fan I'd be pissed. I think they should move a different team but the only way they were going to be able to move a team was in a scenario like this where they could hold the sale of a team up. I feel bad for them, it does suck.

    Supposedly, either the Rays denied permission or it wasn't asked. Presumably the only reason the Rays would deny permission would be if Martinez is next in line for their managerial job... so maybe they are planning to let Maddon go after the season and let Martinez take over. Or if Martinez has told them he's not interested in a managerial position right now.

    It's quite possible I'm wrong, but I thought I remembered comments about him being able to become a free agent next year. Wow 10 years is kinda ludicrous.

    It's been mentioned before but bears repeating, he could just wait one more year and not have to go through the posting process at all. I could see reasons why he'd want to do that.
