  1. The Hell you say! pfft, the day the NL gets DH is the day I'm done with baseball. The DH is the worst thing to ever happen to baseball, if you want to call what they play in the American League baseball. This is the meatballiest thing I've read on here in years. How does the DH inspire such a tantrum? Who. Gives. A. [expletive]. and this is the most 3 yearoldish thing Ive read on here in years, the DH ruined the AL, a lot of people give a [expletive]. It completely changes the way the game is played from a strategy standpoint. If your so shortsighted that runs are the only thing that you find entertaining about the game, maybe its time to find a new game, leave mine alone.

  3. How can they even argue its a lateral move? President of baseball ops is a clear step up from GM. Answered to Luccino, now answers to ownership. How is there anything lateral about that?
  4. I feel bad that this was the first thing I thought when I saw Tim's post. It seems odd that they'd give out an official release before finalizing completely the compensation issue, but if the compensation issue was completely finalized, why didn't they announce it in the release? I'm guessing Bud got sick of Boston pulling their crap and told them to let Theo go and he'd decide what was fair compensation.
  5. Thank God it's over sounds like compensation is about to be arbitrated by the commissioner. At least that's what it sounds like in that press release.
  6. its a bunch of blah blah blah
  7. http://twitter.com/#!/BruceMiles2112 He doesn't tweet much. Thats not really true he used to tweet quite a bit during the season.
  8. The issue of the Redsox asking for to much was resolved?
  9. I don't believe it will happen until after the world series and it will involve Selig at some point. I have no sources to back this up, it's just a feeling. It seems sources don't matter much anyway these days lol
  10. That's good the sooner the better in my mind, otherwise RedSox will drag this on forever.
  11. I knew there was a reason he wanted to be home, thanks for the link and the story. Certainly hope things get better for his daughter.
  12. I think the big reason that Maddux avoids on the field jobs is because he doesnt want to have to have that much time or travel with the team. I think he's enjoyed being at home more since he retired. He's had the ability to come and go as he pleased with his special assistant to the GM title. I'm such a d head. I forgot he was special assistant. I guess I hope he does more than that, or something I think as he gets older the idea of more work in baseball even on the field might appeal to him. He would be an incredible pitching coach but I could also see him working in the front office as a GM even at some point.

  14. What's ctl? Chicago Tribune Live, I think. Isn't it some lame local show on Comcast Chicago? let us know how that goes as I dont get that channel
  15. The current story on their website hedges. It says source reported Friday, Cubs are "prepared" to do it Friday, but it may not happen Friday. They originaly tweeted that 7 hours ago when it was assumed the deal was almost done. wpbc has been retweeting a bunch of old tweets making things pretty confusing if you follow him. Generally a good source of info but a little wacky currently
  16. http://sonsofsamhorn.net/wiki/index.php/Jason_McLeod What would this mean for Wilken? He is reportedly not coming over as a scouting director but will be taking another position with the Cubs. He will be the Assistant GM for Hoyer, I believe that is/was his position in SD.
  17. Well the tweet was legit this is it: @GordonEdes Gordon Edes It's done, according to source: Hoyer to join Theo as GM of Cubs, Byrnes new GM in SD 10 minutes ago via Echofon
  18. Ha! WTF Now a big time Boston media type is saying its done? Im going to lose my mind, why cant people make up their minds!
  19. The Red Sox figure they can out wait the Cubs on this one. Which is an increasingly insane viewpoint. The only thing that the Red Sox could hope to pin the Cubs on was that they HAD to have Epstein as the GM, and they'd need him to start making decisions soon. With the news that Epstein would be president and Hoyer is the GM target, there is little urgency in adding a President of Baseball Ops immediately. Or at the very least they can wait a lot longer than the Sox would want to before their sending Theo 6.5 million dollars and the entire organization isn't sure if Theo is actually running things during actual offseason decisions. Levine was dead on, what children. Someone compared this to a divorce earlier, and it certainly seems like the negotiating style is spiteful. Hope it doesn't come to a 2012 scenario. What I've read is that Hoyer wouldn't make the jump until Theo is on board, but I assume the timing could be moved up if necessary. This is what needs to happen, we need to bring the SD guys in now and let Boston see that we dont give a flying freak what they want we can wait till next year comes if thats what it takes.
  20. if we were close and now we aren't, it means the RedSox balked. I'm thinking that they had a deal in place and then when Henry saw it he said no, go back to the table and wrangle more out of them.
  21. Red Sox sources saying it's not really done. they are saying a deal is not close again, so we are back to square one. I think it's time Selig steped in and forced something, cause this is [expletive] ridiculous. I think we need to bring out the "I want to believe" posters again and start quoting wutang lyrics, maybe that can be our Theo-raindance so to speak rofl. This is going to drag on well past the end of the World series folks.
  22. Heyman on top of it again........ Unless things change... lol
  23. I think quite a few show that stuff, at least OBP. All this talk about random media types checking in reminds me I want to find out who that douche is that keeps appearing on CTL. He tries to come across as some smooth cool dude and he looks like a date rapist. He said dumb stuff. That's Matt Bowen. He's awesome. But I would only listen to him on football x's and o's. The rest he just shouldn't even be talking about. definitely not him. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_MqFI4lKK7X0/TNxIZWerwrI/AAAAAAAAB7U/iwz1SRKG7ic/s1600/Matt%2BBowen.jpg I guess I thought Bowen tries to come across as a cool smooth dude and looks like a date rapist. Was it the yahoo radio guy? OMG that image will haunt me now, why on earth did you post that, he's super creepy looking.
  24. Very cool thanks for the video.
