  1. Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) 10/19/11 6:55 PM Source believes #Cubs -- #Padres talks are going smoother than #Cubs -- #RedSox. Why am I not surprised? #Theo
  2. Maury Brown (@BizballMaury) 10/19/11 6:42 PM On this debate surrounding Theo, Cubs, Red Sox... there will be a solution. Bud's in the mix. Expect it soon No idea as to this guy's credibility.
  3. Link to the Kapp piece http://www.csnchicago.com/baseball-chicago-cubs/news/Kaplan-Significant-progress-in-Theo-talk?blockID=579992&feedID=8487 Was a good read considering the source. I liked the quote from the GM that interviewed with Ricketts, it's worth a read.
  4. Julie covers the Cubs Never even heard of her. Is she the idiot from Red Eye who was posting on one of the bloggers' (Cubs Den, I think) twitter accounts that you should trade Castro for Epstein if you have to? Fringe blogger/writer for Red Eye yes. I don't even follow her due to her extreme leftist political views that she feels compelled to push in her tweets constantly. I have no idea if she has any legit contacts at all. I just read it retweeted by someone else thought it was interesting.
  5. For what it's worth I don't think there's much chance Selig would side with Boston. He wouldn't want to set a precedent of trading huge packages of prospects for front office personnel. What's to stop teams from hiring large groups of baseballs top minds to long contracts and then trading them all of for prospects? It's a bad road to go down. Nevermind the promotion part of this.
  6. Julie covers the Cubs
  7. Nick Cafardo (@nickcafardo) 10/19/11 6:21 PM Seems to be more optimism on Theo Epstein compensation talks today from Red Sox side.
  8. Julie DiCaro (@JulieDiCaro) 10/19/11 5:46 PM Being told Lucchino is willing to make Theo sit out. Red Sox believe Selig will side with them. #Cubs #Theo #RedSox Don't much like Julie but take it for what it's worth
  9. ROFL...so meaningless. If it was progressing well, it'd be done. I'm still laughing at the roble roble post by Kyle. It was very very good.
  10. Who is Jon Morosi?
  11. This thread epitomizes all that is wrong with NSBB these days. Yeah but it's mildly entertaining.
  12. There's no definition by which Sandy Martinez is not black. He might not be "African American" but he's definitely black. Well then alright, I thought he qualified, but didn't want to offend anyone lol.
  13. let's put together the all-swag team ss - jose reyes 2b - brandon phillips 1b - prince fielder lf - andrew mccutchen cf - nyjer morgan jimmy rollins and hanley ramirez should probably play first and third or something cc is the ace help me think of moPre. Matt Kemp can be moved to right. Is there a single black catcher in baseball? I really can't think of any. To be honest, Roy Campanella is the last one I can think of. Well the guy that caught Kerry Wood's 20k game was very dark skinned, depends on how you define "black"
  14. If that's Theo's wife in the pic with Gammons she looks much hotter than previous pics Ive seen of her.
  15. I want to just stay away from this thread till after the World Series but then I would miss the pages and pages of hard hitting analysis.
  16. My feeling is that Fielder's weight is going to give him knee/back issues about midway into his enormous contract. I hope the Cubs stay away from him.
  17. Actually the last official thing I read said that as of the end of the season they hadn't asked for permission to speak to anyone, but it's been a while and since then they havent been able to get an official response from anyone. The Hoyer quote is the freshest thing Ive seen and its really not very telling.
  18. lol Im assuming thats sarcasm.
  19. If they are holding their ground there wont be a resolution any time soon. [expletive] bastards son of a bitches. *sigh*
  20. water is much more valuable to sustaining human life, but yet diamonds cost more. and Jesus walked on water, but wtf does any of that have to do with the topic of this thread? Man, you guys make my head hurt.
  21. No. When you sell your car, does your price depend upon how the person buying it is going to use it? Only if the car is getting promoted to a 4 wheel drive truck. I just don't understand how you don't get this. It's the same thing as an NFL coordinator being allowed to interview for a head coaching job. There's NEVER any compensation when a promotion is involved. In fact, the only time permission is even considered to be an issue is in a parallel move, which we've clearly determined is not the case here. the question here is are the cubs inventing a position that's not really a promotion, but sounds like a promotion for the sake of calling it a promotion? I think it's clearly a promotion. In Boston he answers to Luccino (not an owner) in Chicago he would answer directly to the owner. That's clearly a step up the ladder.
  22. I love Heyman he's mad, I mean certifiable, the guy is nuts. he talks in circles, it's really hard to follow sometimes. I also don't understand the need for this to take so long, Selig needs to come in and put a deadline on it just to force decisions, I doubt he will though.
  23. that was awesome Kyle, awesome...
  24. There is really nothing out there that's like the Cubs job and he'll know we tried but Boston was trying to rob us blind. If he wants to come now he'll want to come in a year. I dont think it'll go down like that I think eventually Boston will just take what it can get.
  25. Couldn't agree more. They need to draw a line in the sand, put together things in preparation for Theo and just wait it out. Worst case scenario we get him a year from now plus whoever we want to take from the front office. Id love to see the Selig get involve and force Boston's hand but I doubt that would happen.
