  1. Until I tried to start a new topic in baseball, that is. The post was taking a while and I eventually got a debugging mode message.
  2. First I've heard of it. Thought this would be of interest to some folks:
  3. Nice win. Hinrich made up for a tough night at the end. Looks like one of Chandler's relatives was decked out in some nice Cubs gear. Might've been his grandfather.
  4. Heck of a stuff by Nocioni. Too bad Brand put it right back in. But Hinrich responds with a pair of free throws and the Bulls lead by 4 with :09.4 left.
  5. He did have a tooth knocked out. Since there wasn't a timeout called, though, he had to hand it to a teammate about to check in, who handed it to Skiles, who handed it to the trainer. Bulls up 6 with 73 seconds to go.
  6. A frustrating past few minutes. Sweetney may have lost a tooth.
  7. Pargo and the Bulls somehow take a 51-50 lead into the half.
  8. Real ugly start to the second quarter. 14-0 Clippers run to start it before Gordon's three.
  9. What do you think of the allegiance split between individual players and teams when it comes to Cooperstown? Is it balanced or do the HOFers overshadow their organizations? In the same sense, what is your impression of the average baseball fan? Are they more attached to the player, to the team, or perhaps to the sport? Thanks for your time.
  10. I don't know about Sickels (it might be somewhere on the site), but Cedeno only started 18 games last season to Murton's 38.
  11. I don't know. I think Grant will like the compliment.
  12. If he bam, bam, bam, let him play at the end of last season, maybe the breaking in period is mostly over.
  13. So Murton is going to sit when Limbaugh is on the mound? I must say I'm a little more optimistic than I was last year about Baker playing a young outfielder, but not by much.
  14. That could conceivably work, but MLB wouldn't like it. They wouldn't be able to market interleague play like they do now and scheduling interleague rivaly games of interest to be on weekends would be challenging. I wouldn't mind it if those rivarly series were cut down to just 3 games instead of 6, though.
  15. Yeah, it just doesn't seem like there would be much of an effect. As I noted in the other thread, there are going to be an additional 7 rows or so in the corners where the family and group sections used to be. In left and right center, only several rows. I don't see what 7 rows is going to do since each row is only approximately 18 inches. The expansion is making the bleachers much deeper, but not necessarily higher. And as McGuire alluded to, with the buildings there, the impact is going to be even less.
  16. Unbelievable. Purdue blows out Michigan the same day Minnesota takes it to Michigan State. With Northwestern destroying IPFW and Penn State tied up with Wisconsin, Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Penn State may all win on the same day.
  17. They dropped 47 on Michigan in the first half. Amazing.
  18. Basically what was expected. Time for Spring Training.

  20. The Cubs should put a clause in Z's contract that allows him to hold a batting practice/homerun derby exhibition on non-game days several times a year. I know I'd pay to see that.
  21. They added about 7 rows in the corners, which is where most of the home runs that go onto the streets go over. That'll certainly reduce the number of balls going out there, but it'll be no means eliminate them. I'm also not sure how big of a deal that is to most fans. As I noted in the other thread, those aren't bleacher seats that cost $60. They never were. And the restaurant takes away fans only in the sense that it allows there to be more out there. Or by letting fans rent it out on non-game days. I'm not sure why people expected to go in and out of there with east from the bleachers. And I'm not sure why people would even want to be in there instead of in the seats unless it's raining or cold out. I'll reserve final judgement until I see the finished product and can get out to the bleachers, but it looks like the renovations are coming along well.
  22. I do believe they are. Down 73-42 late 3rd.
  23. Again, though, those 253 seats in right field that cost $60 are going in an area that wasn't available to the general public before, anyways. As for the restaurant, it was going to be a low capacity thing. Even if it was more accessible to fans during games, it was only going to be able to serve an insignificant number. It's not like you're going to be sitting in the bleachers and risk losing your spot by getting up to watch the game in there for a few innings. I don't think the prices went up that much, but you're right in saying that expansion was, according to the Cubs, going to keep ticket prices from increasing too much. I don't think anyone expected quite this increase, but as others have pointed out, it's not unique to the Cubs. The high demand for tickets is just something we're going to have to live with. As long as it's high, prices are going to increase.
  24. Forgot to say that the box seats in right field are taking up the former group section, so they were seats before and not bleachers. Only now they're available to the public. It means that they have to find another spot for the group section, but that only accounts for 150 seats or less.
