  1. What did hawk say about that? In his softest voice possible: "That's trouble... ... ... get down... ... ... ... ... Ramirez has two hits off of Contreras."
  2. The beauty about having a five second delay between the radio and my TV feed is that I can unmute it when Aramis hits a HR. Hawk is hilarious.
  3. It's not like they have a power lineup or anything.
  4. Don't make things personal.
  5. What was concluded about the Hill/Dunn talk? If Hendry did feel that way, I'd imagine it says more about his thoughts about Dunn and the offense than about Hill.
  6. $206 to $179. A big difference, but not as large as the payroll difference. forbes link The Cubs' operating income of $7.9 million last season doesn't leave that much room for a larger payroll, though. At least not without losing money like the Red Sox are doing.
  7. Ha. I had the same reaction.
  8. lol @ more walks. the cubs get all kinds of singles & don't score. the problem is no power. After a quick look, the Cubs are 3rd to last in the NL in singles. They obviously need more power, but they're also seriously lacking in getting on base. You do either better and you'll score more runs.
  9. 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K. That's one way to put it.
  10. Well, doesn't matter. He'll throw four innings against the rookies next time out and Miller will throw two innings on Monday, according to Cubs.com
  11. Huh? So what did he take exception to? No, you leave your mask on to keep someone from punching your lights out. According to him, the bumping afterwards. Do you actually think Oswalt was going to throw a punch so he could get ejected and risk hurting his hand?
  12. He didn't take exception to that. And if you take your mask off, that's when something can get out of hand. If you just keep your mask on and say what you want to say, it doesn't have to escalate.
  13. UGH. So much for going wire-to-wire. NU lost 2 of the first 3 to Purdue and Iowa scored just 2 runs in their first 3 games against Michigan. At least they'll get a bye in the tournament.
  14. It looked like it was in his field of vision as he was getting up, but apparently didn't see it.
  15. I have a single digit seat. So how close to the catcher? Will A.J be able to hear me when he's on defense or only while on deck? You won't be that close to the catcher, but he'll certainly hear it while on deck. If you're loud enough, though, he might hear you. Looks like I should invest in a small plastic megaphone. Or you could just call up the league office and say you and your small child were traumatized by hearing AJP swear on the field. That'll get him suspended. If I can incite him to throw something at me then he'll get suspended and I can file a lawsuit. My plan is better. Good point. Those on deck circle donuts are pretty heavy. Not sure if you'd get folding chair money, though.

  17. Dusty didn't actually see what was happening. He was day dreaming about the future callup of Tony Womack. Can't wipe the smile off that guy's face.

  19. If you have a single digit seat, you'll probably be within 15-20 feet of the on-deck circle. If you have a triple digit seat, you'll be a little further away.
  20. The majority of times the catcher blocks the plate with their left leg (just about every play at the plate), the runner slides around it. That's not to say it was a dirty hit, but collisions at the plate aren't all that common. And the majority of the time, the runner doesn't act the way AJP did.
  21. "I've been punched a lot of times." -AJP
  22. Please watch the language.
  23. In what universe is that a strike?
  24. It is strongly recommended that fans of the opposing team do not post in the game threads.
