  1. Pie's struggles continue. He went 0-3 with 3 Ks and was double switched out of the game. His BA is down to .260 and OPS down to .755. He had a .676 OPS in May.
  2. Boy did Cedeno get out of the box fast on that one. And what a bad bunt.
  3. Jaxx win the first game 10-6.
  4. A Jackson RBI single, an EPatt sac fly, a double steal and an E2 allowing Jackson to score, and an RBI single by Lewis give the Jaxx a 10-6 lead.
  5. Even with two outs, Neifi doesn't give Pierre an opportunity to steal.
  6. Don't think Z had a great shot at home on that one.
  7. Z's been hanging his 2-strike pitches too much today.
  8. He had 329 ABs in 2003, more than half of a season's worth. But also remember that his OPS topped out around .820 as late as mid-September in 2004.
  9. Pie with yet another K looking on a 3-2 pitch.
  10. Haha. Awesome. Thanks, Randy!
  11. Ground ball towards 1st/2nd pitcher goes towards 1st. Once he saw that the play was contained he should have gone to third. Z should know that there is a switch on and that there are 3 infielders on the right side of the field. True but pitchers are trained over and over again to slide to the right side when there's a grounder there. I'm with Bob. Barrett should've been the one covering third. If necessary, Z would cover home.
  12. The zone is huge tonight. Hopefully Z can start to keep it down.
  13. Me too. I miss Womack already. (Neifi in Dusty's 2hole already) WHAT, A, [removed]. Please watch the language.
  14. Word must've reached the front office that Felix has been walking more as of late.
  15. Restovich's OPS against lefties at AAA is 1.333 in 29 ABs with 3 HRs, though, and they couldn't even give him one start for a player who had just horrendous stats against lefties. Heck, they demoted him for a guy who was completely redundant while they actually needed a power right-handed bat. Now, with Lee's return probably less than two weeks away, they make a move and add salary while doing it. It would have made sense to actually give Restovich a chance first.
  16. Restovich got so many splinters, though, that Dusty even blamed himself for his struggles when Michael was sent down. That had to be a first for him. And I don't believe Restovich even started a single game.
  17. So that means the Cubs are roughly adding on another $1.8 million to payroll for the rest of the season.
  18. Miller hasn't even started his rehab assignment yet, although that should happen any day now.
  19. It's not a bad trade, but how about giving that guy in our system who is currently destroying lefties and can play RF a chance? It's amazing that Restovich hasn't gotten a chance despite the need.
  20. There's already a thread on it in Transactions: Premium Non-Premium
  21. I doubt there are very many walk-up ticket sales. The Cubs broke their own record of ticket sales the first day on sale again this year. But they're also not filling the seats. The Cubs are averaging about 1,500 empy seats so far this season and there were over 2,000 unsold tickets for yesterday games. Even the Memorial Day game had over 1,000 unsold tickets. And as has reported by Teddy Greenstein a week or so ago, Cubs TV ratings have dropped 45% since 2004.
  22. THE DON!! (I win) Looks like a mighty fine day of pitching for the affiliates. In case anyone is interested, here's a news interview with Veal from April. It includes video of him throwing a pitch in a BP session: http://www.week.com/data/asx/060411vealB.asx
  23. Wuertz gives up a run in the 9th, but he picks up the 2-inning save. The game ended on a strike 'em out, throw 'em out DP. Pie struck out in both ABs. I-Cubs win 2-1.
