  1. The post was referring to how he’d look on Sunday, but in general, yes I do think he looks pretty darned good. He’s a work in progress still (and will remain so all season long) but I was more than pleased with his performance against the Colts. I encourage everyone to just watch Caleb's All-22 tape. No commentary, nothing special. Just watch all throws he made. Aside from the really bad, stupid interception, it's really really good. He's missing long on some deep balls, but I'm not too worried about that in the long run. They lost the game, but that doesn't crowd out my view of how he played.
  2. Agreed. Theres just no excuse for this team to wallow in mediocrity for so long. They should be clear easy playoff contenders year in, year out, not eliminated more than a week before the seasons over. It’s embarrassing.
  3. I'll be at that Panthers game with my dad and if they manage to lose that one, I'll be really pissed. I'm not *really* afraid of Andy Dalton, not even with the 1 game deadcat bounce from him, but he sure as hell gives em a much better chance to win than Mr. I'm Too Small To Play and Why Did Anyone Think I Was Worth the First Overall Holy Moly What Was the NFL Thinking
  4. I have some sort of feeling the Bears win this one in convincing fashion, Caleb looks pretty darn good, and all the existential despair of Bears fandom of the last 3 weeks instantly evaporates. (Only to return in 2-3 weeks when they lose a game again, because its professional football) Could be totally wrong though.
  5. Oh man. That 2008-2013 period of the Bulls was the time where I paid the most attention to them since the Jordan years and the team was so much fun. Such a shame what's happened since. You had the injuries and then the weird and offputting....sex stuff.... it's really too bad. You'd like to feel good about memorializing Rose but it feels a little wrong.
  6. I think Bernstein and Holmes was a decent pairing, and I wish Goff was coming back, but hats off to him not bending over for 670 and doing his own thing.
  7. I'm not even mad at the 4th down play specifically. I'm mad they ran 4 straight run plays when they haven't been able to do any short yardage running all season long (and really weren't any damn good at it last year either) and didn't give Caleb Williams at least one chance to lob it into the end zone.
  8. I don’t know why wouldn’t root for them to lose out. It’s so much more fun! I have no animosity towards the white sox but if the cubs were in the same position I’d absolutely be rooting for history. It’s almost impossible to be this bad (with players trying to win.) achieve glory! Achieve history! Better to be remembered as historically awful rather than nearly historically awful.
  9. Listening to some recaps of the game and the “they didn’t commit to the run game!!” Narrative is there already. If anything, they’ve committed too much to it. It’s quite alright to throw in the towel if it doesn’t horsefeathers work at all. They’re averaging like 2 yards a carry throughout the season. Run as much as you need to to keep defenses reasonably honest but other than that, let it rip, Caleb.
  10. With zero hesitation: yes
  11. I think people (myself included) are going to have to deal with the pain of recalibrating what this season is gonna be like. We had hoped for a CJ Stroud-esque performance and a team that improved its roster and could be not just a playoff contender but a team that could make noise in the playoffs. This season is sadly not that, at least not yet. The coaching has been sloppy. The performance on offense for all involved has been sloppy. Williams has taken longer to emerge than hoped. (Though I would say, has improved in every single week so far). We may yet contend for a playoff spot, but it’ll take much more improvement. Eberflus has not gotten any better in what he has control over (challenges, time management, etc etc), The running game doesn’t exist. The OLine is, while better today, a mess. So the season isn’t over, but we may have to readjust expectations and see this more as a development and preparation year where we’re hopefully still In The Hunt late as opposed to being a division contender all year long.
  12. Bad day for the 2024 Bears, good day overall for the Bears franchise and Caleb Williams
  13. It was over the second they forced the fumble
  14. That was anticlimactic oh well. Woulda been cool to have Williams get a drive but it is what it is
  15. You can see the palpable relief for Williams there. can we possibly get a stop and a drive??
  16. This is what happens when you adamantly refuse to score for 3 quarters. Not mad at the D at all
  17. I literally do not care if something is “in double coverage” if it hits the receiver in the hands
  18. Poor Williams, that wasn’t on him really
  19. lol a Hail Mary that’s COMPLETE but just outside of the end zone is emblematic of this season so far
  20. please god just let the Bears have a non-janky, normal looking offensive effort for once. Don't have it look so bad and weird
  21. The response to the Texans game shouldn't have surprised me but it was funny: Everyone admitted the Texans were a better team and expected the Bears to lose. Then the Bears came out and lost a close game (and covered the spread!) and everyone lost their minds. Now of course, the Bears looked worse on offense than everyone had hoped, but still, at the end of the day, it played out how everyone expected it to play out.
  22. I'm also mildly surprised the Bears are dogs in this game but also they've looked absolutely dreadful on offense, and on the road, so it does make sense. This should be a get healthy game, so we'll find out a lot about where this team is going after this. Their defense shouldn't scare us too much and the team should be able to move the ball a little bit. If they can't you can start to get worried, but only start. Even if they lay a total egg it'll be the 3rd game of a season with your rookie QB. But it'll still sting, and may say a lot about how well prepared this team is. They need to clean up a lot of unforced errors. Pre-snap penalties, mixed up assignments, etc. There's no excuse for it to look that bad.
  23. I've re-watched all of Caleb's drop backs and a couple thoughts I have on reflection: The OLine, while very bad, was not as bad as I thought and Caleb was responsible for several of the sacks. The 4th and 1 play was particularly egregious - that was one where he hit the top of his drop, clearly needed to release the ball or scramble, and instead pivots and eats a huge sack for no reason. The protection needs to be better and in particular the running game needs to be better. But it's not all bad protection.
  24. Bryce Young makes me feel extremely good about the Bears organization
