  1. Do you think so? I look at it and I think "damn thats pretty soft" and that its nice they don't have to play divisional games (which are, this year, gonna be tough games) until the very end of the season. I look at TEN, IND and CAR in the first 5 games and I'm like - those are games you gotta take care of business, and then you still have WASH, NE and AZ still hanging around the schedule. If they slay some bums and go .500 with everyone else they have a winning/playoff season.
  2. its significantly harder to do a radio call than a tv call, so I get it. But, to me, Len was the voice of the Cubs at their best, and it doesn't feel right to not have his voice there.
  3. listen just tell me how we can get Len Kasper back calling Cubs games ok
  4. Thank god Imanaga is pitching like prime era Pedro Martinez during this stretch when every other player is on the IL. The fact they're still winning games while they're so decimated kinda makes me feel like there's good karma going around on this team
  5. I was gonna say - there's a distinct chance that DJ gets fewer balls thrown his way this year than last, especially if Keenan Allen is at full speed and Odunze is everything he's cracked up to be. He doesn't seem to be upset about it at all. (There's also the chance that the sheer volume of pass attempts goes up that it doesn't matter) Which I love.
  6. One thing about punters in the modern NFL is also.... field position has never mattered less. Its not just the hope that we wont have to punt that much, its also the fact that it doesn't matter where you give someone the ball anymore. They'll still just march down the field. The difference between giving them the ball on the 20 and pinning them inside the 5 is not nearly as important as it once was.
  7. It truly is #KingPoles coming out party. Following him for the last 2+ years, I appreciate that everything he does has a strategic logic to it. I grew up in the Angelo era, and Jerry was always scrambling to patch up holes and throw things together. There wasn't a long arc of strategic thinking - and none of the GMs that followed him had one either. Everything Poles does makes sense. Not all of it works out (look at Claypool and Velus Jones) but that will always be the case. The method is sound. This could all fail - QB prospects are notoriously fickle and can fail. Unforeseen injuries could torpedo the team. Things one could never predict could emerge. But I've seen enough to anoint #KingPoles.
  8. Punters aren't a big deal but the punting game for the Bears has never recovered after losing Brad Maynard, and it was absolutely a problem last year. Anyway, I hope (and expect) Caleb is right that it wont matter too much next year
  9. I have to always temper my expectations because, they are the Bears, and there does appear to be some sort of metaphysical barrier between them and a modern, average passing offense. But it would be goddamn hilarious if Caleb Williams comes out and immediately shatters the Bears QB season records, like, for example, PASSING FOR 4,000 YARDS IN A SEASON
  10. horsefeathers defense, go offense i'm tired of the bears caring so much about defense. its a ****** brand that has been counterproductive for several generations now. light up the scoreboard baby
  11. i couldn't be more pleased with what the Vikings did
  12. I think this also speaks to how much the league has transformed into being an offensive league Defense is important but completely secondary to a good offense - you have to be able to put up 25+ a week if you want to be a playoff team
  13. i'm so pumped for the bears yall
  14. DON'T OVERTHINK IT AND JUST GET ODUNZE
  15. I think Michael Penix is a good player but lol at spending the 8th overall pick on a 24 year old with 2 knee surgeries
  16. If Odunze is gone by the time 9 comes around i dont hate trading down
  17. Chances Odunze falls to the Bears increasing
  18. I'm gonna laugh for 200 years if (as I expect) Daniels sucks and Maye is excellent and the Patriots are good for another 15 years
  19. It'll be RGIII 2.0. Or RGVI
  20. I think Washington just made a huge mistake here. Maye is the better prospect.
  21. i feel like i've waited foreeeeeeever for the draft to finally arrive. and its gonna be a long 5 months until the season starts. but i'm pumped
  22. well the cubs have had some really unfortunate luck to start the season with injuries and are still 14-9, so things could be worse here's hoping some of the young depth guys keep the offense afloat for a while
  23. I wish every player coming off a rough stretch or an IL stint could come back and face the 2024 Marlins. The only other team I'd want to warm a pitcher up against would be the 2024 White Sox.
  24. Poor Hendricks. I hope this isn't the end of the line for him. He's a great guy to root for. Nothing better than the guy without the best 'stuff' who succeeds on pure determination. The aging curve for guys like that usually isn't that graceful - they typically completely fall off a cliff at a certain point - but last year seemed to fight against that notion. In any case, he's not playing at a major league replacement level. He's actually far far below that. IL him for a while and see if there's anything that can be done.
