  1. Not only is bunting a piss-poor strategy, the Cubs are really BAD AT IT. Its really incredible how they just keep banging their head against a brick wall, hoping the next time they throw their head forward the wall will turn into Jello.
  2. Pierre was at his pathetic worst That weak grounder to the pitcher to set up a double play and absolutely kill a rally was Pierre at his best. I was really hoping for a bunt in that situation.
  3. That brings a tear to my eye. We haven't seen that since the sweep of the Cardinals when our hopes were yet to be dashed, and Derrek Lee sat gloriously atop first base. Actually I put that picture up for the Marlins game that we lost as well because there was a sweep possibility. Missed it because I was at the game. And that game uber sucked. In fact I'm pretty sure that was right around the time when the team started slipping, and I can only blame myself and my friends for jinxing them.
  4. I'd really love to keep him, he's got tons of potential, and while he'll never be Jordan, he may yet be a superstar. I really love how there is nodody on the Bulls that I dislike. They are all swell guys.
  5. They've finally broken you!! Holy crap that was so funny I'm crying. We bunt in any and all situations. One of my friends threw a remote and broke it. The other was on the ground laughing his ass off.
  6. I'm sorry, but why would you want him?
  7. Considering Hinrich is pretty much the face of the franchise, I think I'd lean towards him. I really would love to see Deng, Gordon and Nocioni stick around as well. In that order.
  8. He's doing alright. Did you see that barehanded play he made in left field to totally save a game? Yea...I kinda wish defense actually mattered in fantasy. Okay BigSlim. Since when was: Season Total 123 18 34 4 0 10 28 23 30 0 0 .276 .392 .553 .945 Bad? OBP, Slugging, Homers, Steals and Runs are the only things that count for hitters in our league. (Strange, but our Commish really likes Moneyball and refuses to use common stats like RBI's and Batting Average, I prefer it this way anyway) He's more than suitable as a 3rd outfielder.
  9. OMG OMG OMG OMG OM GOMG LETS START BYNUM EVERDAY
  10. That brings a tear to my eye. We haven't seen that since the sweep of the Cardinals when our hopes were yet to be dashed, and Derrek Lee sat gloriously atop first base.
  11. Can you not say "The pitcher is going to dominate tonite"? Are we just going to look over the fact he misspelled "tonight"?
  12. Or how 90% of the time when someone says "ironic" they really shouldn't be talking. Ever.
  13. He's doing alright. Did you see that barehanded play he made in left field to totally save a game? Yea...I kinda wish defense actually mattered in fantasy.
  14. Why does Baker (and Hendry) insist on attributing everything to luck? It's not luck. It's called pitch recognition. Are the same guys at the top of the league every year in OBP and/or BA because of luck? No. Because whenever Baker walked in his day, it was luck. It doesn't seem like it: MLB Totals: 19 years 2039 7117 964 1981 320 23 242 1013 137 73 762 926 30 52 27 85 157 .278 .347 .432 779 His career OBP was 69 points higher than his batting average. I somehow doubt this was luck...still... Why does he have such a stupid philosophy, i just don't get it.
  15. Arenas isn't much bigger, and I think Gordon's every bit as athletic as he is. If you think that's all Gordon does, I see little value discussing it further. Thats not all I think he does, but it isn't hard to find someone that can effectively duplicate his point totals...however he has the potential to be so much better. But he really doesn't have the same game as Arenas. Theres no way I could see him evolve and turn into that kind of player...because that just isn't his game.
  16. My friend has his cell phone set so that whenever he gets a call from his work it goes: "I think in a given week I do about 15 minutes of real actual work" OH man.
  17. I think that's a correct gut even though I hope you are wrong. I mean I hope they both come back healthy, but with Prior slated to return first he will get more playing time. Trick question/statement really, self-fulfilling prophecy: Derrek Lee is a position player and will have more playing time anyway
  18. Well, I have to stay consistently negative: How many pitches does Wood have to hurl before his bionic arm falls off? 17?
  19. Assuming NY stands pat this off season. I'm more concerned with what Gordon could turn into here. I remember you calling him nothing more than a role player this past season, but I see a lot of Arenas in his future. I'm not ready to write Tyson off yet. Although he was very disappointing this year, he's still a defensive presence. How old was Ben Wallace when he finally figured stuff out? Rose's expiring contract would be a nice chip, but they've got a lot of nice chips already without him. It's a gamble. Could pay off, could fail, not a no-brainer -- and I suspect the Knicks are planning on making a run at next off season's free agent class, too. Wait, what? I'm a huge Gordon fan, but he hasn't the size or ability to drive like Arenas does. The comparison is fairly ridiculous. BTW, he means its rather easy to find sharpshooting guards that can hit open 3's...which is fairly true.
  20. Sadly, we know this is only short term. Dusty will continue to tweak with it until we get something crazy like Neifi leading off and Hairston in the 2 hole.
  21. Terrible OBP might have to do with it. Cedeno is like the ideal 8 hitter, if there is such a thing.
  22. I'm so glad he's on my fantasy team. My outfield has me in tears right now: Carlos Lee, Phillip Burrell and Carlos Beltran. They laughed at me before. Look whos laughing now.
  23. I can definitely live with that Lee lineup. We might score some runs with that! (I might swap Murton with Walker, but thats pretty nitpicky for no reason)
  24. Lineups: Nationals: Name AVG HR RBI SB 1. A Soriano, LF .278 12 25 6 2. M Byrd, CF .250 2 5 2 3. J Vidro, 2B .336 3 17 1 4. N Johnson, 1B .310 10 24 4 5. J Guillen, RF .220 5 18 0 6. R Zimmerman, 3B .265 6 21 2 7. W Gonzalez, C .417 0 0 0 8. D Jackson, SS .222 1 3 1 9. Z Day, P .000 0 0 0 Cubs: Name AVG HR RBI SB 1. J Pierre, CF .231 0 2 12 2. M Murton, LF .271 2 17 2 3. T Walker, 1B .294 2 17 0 4. M Barrett, C .290 5 19 0 5. A Ramirez, 3B .215 6 17 1 6. J Jones, RF .264 6 17 0 7. J Hairston Jr., 2B .279 0 4 3 8. R Cedeno, SS .281 1 9 5 9. S Marshall, P .143 0 1 0 I can live with this lineup, its making the most of a bad situation (roster). If we swapped Cedeno with Pierre, it would be even better.
  25. That's a ridiculous philosophy! Let's tank the year to get better for the future? Haven't we tanked enough years in the past 97 years? What makes you think that giving up on this year will make us better for next year? Makes no sense. I would rather see all the players have good years and that will bold well for next year. I want to see Cedeno, Murton, RAM, Lee, Marshall, etc. excel and get better for next year. If you watch the Cubs hoping for them to lose, why watch them? LETS WIN 79 GAMES EVERY SEASON AND BE MEDIOCRE FOREVER I'm not even gonna argue with this. But I will say one thing, we need to start making some front office and roster moves right away.
