  2. i saw a report saying the prospect cost would be more than heyward, but i'm not really sure why that would be. The Cubs are on his (short) no-trade list
  3. Indeed. It's almost as if the father-in-law is not closely involved in the negotiations. Of course, that's apparently crazy talk. The crazy talk is devoting two entire pages to debating the validity of such a vague statement. :banghead: I kind of enjoyed it. Then again I think my life is pretty damn boring. Plus it beats the pants off of actually working.
  4. Imagine living in NC surrounded by 90% UNC and Duke fans. Most of whom could never dream of being intelligent enough to be accepted to either school. UNC fans are the absolute worst, though. If NC State football could improve enough to be acceptable in the SEC I would kill for a change of conference. They would already be one of the better basketball teams and could hold their own in baseball. The ACC and the "blue bias" is a joke and insanely infuriating.
  5. This exactly. Romo is a no-brainier vs Wilson considering the match ups. NE allowed less than a yard per carry to IND last week. Plus DET should have Bush coming back to steal some of the RB action. Go with Blue if Foster can't go (early reports have Foster coming back). Otherwise Williams is the best bet of those options.
  6. Wasn't expecting that music (or music selection) midway through the video. Though it was a nice touch.
  7. What I'm reading in these comments that has been ignored is the fact that Epstein is on record of saying that when the time/player comes along that you overpay for then you overpay for him. I would have loved to bring Martin into the fold. The FO obviously didn't think he was worth the (seemingly somewhat marginal) overpay. If so, I don't have any problem with that. I would imagine if they feel they need to upgrade at C then then they have alternate avenues. It's not as if everyone was clamoring about upgrading catcher as the Cubs biggest need this offseason. Or maybe they are OK with Castillo and think he will continue to improve both offensively and defensively as a young catcher only now entering his prime. Sign some pitchers and upgrade the catching (or outfield, or both) situations through trade. Or don't and sign/trade for additional stud pitching. There are a number of ways to improve the overall talent for 2015. Missing out on an aging catcher on a 5-year contract is not the end of the world. I took that as what Tranny was getting at. There's no need to supremely overpay through FA for one particular player to "prove" this ball club is serious about winning. Not spending any money is another story entirely, but there is too much smoke for there not to be fire in that regard. ETA: TT beat me to the punch during my 20 min post
  8. ingram for sure of the other two, i lean jennings but am biased because i have him and need him to not suck this weekend. Definitely Ingram. I think I'd go with Gore, actually, simply because the NYG defense is laughably bad against the run and I think SF is going to recommit to the run more than they have. But, Jennings is really, really, close IMO.
  9. Thanks, guys. I was leaning towards Blue and that cemented it. I scooped up Rudolph a couple weeks ago off waivers and it'll be interesting to see how he performs.
  10. Sounds like Foster will be a no go this weekend for HOU. PPR flex: Alfred Blue vs. CLE Kyle Rudolph vs. CHI On one hand I feel I should play it safe with Blue given Cleveland isn't great and he'll have lots of volume (especially with Mallet making his first start). On the other hand Chicago gives up the most points to TE in the league. I just have no idea if he'll be limited at all (he practiced all week, though).
  11. I'd rather visit the site and read something than nothing at all.
  12. I'm actually glad you talk so much. Especially during the down times when nothing else is going on.
  13. Eh. Sore is one thing. ALL sore? Nobody wants that. Btw- it's still a bit weird to see anything other than imb! Mojo changing his name is no big deal because he never stops talking long enough for anyone to notice any difference.
  14. That's exciting So then 142 days until Jon Lester makes his Cubs debut
  15. God, everything he says is refreshing and insightful. I was fine with Renteria, but so happy they hired Maddon.
  16. Apologies if I somehow missed this, but Heyman is reporting the Cubs intend to target Martin: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24783904/cubs-already-a-big-free-agent-player-are-targeting-russell-martin
  17. Thanks, Tree and Butters. Not a keeper league, but this other manager was crushing hard on Wallace for some reason. Tannehill can't throw a long ball to save his life, so Wallace's upside is sort of limited IMO. Johnson isn't as dynamic, but they target him 10-12 times a game. In a PPR league I think I slightly prefer Johnson over Wallace, but to me it's a toss up. Plus I like Johnson's matchups in weeks 15/16 more than Wallace's. Almost a lock to reach the 4-team playoff. I had Colston for two weeks and watched both games. Like Tree said, between Graham, Cooks, Stills, etc. there just isn't a lot revolving around Colston. I don't even think he's "boom-or-bust". I think on good weeks he'll put up marginal numbers and other weeks he'll be essentially non-existent (like the last two weeks). I picked up Wheaton with an extra bench spot this week so I now have both him and Bryant. I'm hoping one of the two sets themselves apart as the clear no. 2 in Pittsburgh (appears that Bryant is heading that way). I could be reading too much into the huge game last week, but I think the no. 2 WR in Pittsburgh could be a difference maker going down the stretch.
  18. Team A gets: Mike Wallace Marques Colston Team B gets: Andre Johnson Martavis Bryant
  19. Nevermind. I rejected and the guy countered with: I get: Golden Tate/Reggie Bush I give: Chris Ivory/Bishop Sankey I accepted in a heartbeat. Since Ivory/Sankey was the package I got for Torrey Smith/Russel Wilson, I essentially traded my backup QB and Torrey Smith for Golden Tate and Reggie Bush.
  20. I was proposed this: Sproles/G Tate I give: Ellington/Sankey Sankey is strictly a beach option as I've mentioned before and WR depth is rather weak (starting Colston who has been infuriating this year). RB I'm good with Foster/Lynch/Ivory/etc. it's a PPR league. I know Tates stock should fall a bit when CJ comes back. But, Ellington is also playing hurt all year and I've been scared to death his foot will shred one day. Crazy for thinking about it? I honestly just saw it and haven't researched Sproles outlook going forward enough, but knew I'd like to see if anyone wanted to weigh in, regardless.
  21. Yeah, I'm don't mean to be contrary or argumentative in my responses, just trying to explaining my rationale and the circumstances. I tried really hard to do better for Wilson, but in the end nobody else was buying him as a legit elite fantasy QB. Therefore, it was either trade him for a marginal upgrade at flex, or hang on to him for a one-week start (I'm making the playoffs regardless so one game doesn't matter). After that I would be faced with either keeping him as insurance if Rogers got hurt or going ahead and dropping him for a low percentage flier.
  22. I needed flex at my depth spot, so WR vs RB vs TE doesn't matter. I have 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE locked in every week. What it boiled down to for me was any possible upgrade from Torrey Smith. I have handcuffs for my elite running backs and only have one flex spot which is really a decision in any given week. Up to this point, that last flex spot was reserved for Torrey Smith. I received Ivory who outperformed Smith today (Smith played against a D that is bad against the pass, Ivory against the second best run defense - and in a blowout, no less). The Jets may not run the ball all that much, but a starting RB for any team is valuable. I received two of them for an incredibly hit-or-miss wide receiver. Wilson is a nonfactor as far as I'm concerned. I'd have liked to get better value for him, but trading your backup QB in any league that only starts 10 QB's isn't easy to do. To put that into context the guy I traded with this morning played Wilson and benched Big Ben. That cost him about 60 fantasy points. After next week I probably would have dropped Wilson to pick up a flier considering I'd be going with Rogers for the duration. If you think Torrey Smith is better than both Ivory and Sankey then it's a bad trade for me. But, everything I've read has both of them rated higher as flex plays. Sankey may very well be a total bust and Ivory may not live up to expectations. But I'll bet on the safer choice of Ivory and the upside of Sankey just gives me another option to stash on the bench.
  23. Well I know Wilson is a good QB (and probably an upgrade for him), but he holds no real value to me beyond next week. I'm obviously starting Rogers every week. I'm not sure Torrey Smith will be the better player between him and Chris Ivory (2 TDs in todays game already and coming off a 125 yard rushing effort). Maybe Smith bounces back to his form last year, but he's boom or bust in the best case scenario. Sankey may very well be the worst player in the deal, but he does offer some chance of upside if he catches up to the speed of the NFL game. If not, he's just another player sitting on my bench. Time will tell. ETA: I should also mention that the trade deadline is next week and I've been shopping Wilson around to sell high the last couple of weeks. It was now or never if I was going to get any value for him. He's essentially a throw-in from my perspective. He's also looked like garbage today (and Torrey Smith has been held without a catch).
  24. Probably lean towards McKinnon. I heard on the radio Vereen has been sick fwiw
  25. I made another trade and I think I feel pretty good about it. Thoughts? PPR league. I'm 7-0 but have been really concerned about my depth and especially some of the touch match-ups my players will be facing in the playoffs. I traded: Russell Wilson (have Rogers so probably would never have gotten a start except next week. I'll pick up whoever is the best available next week to fill in for Roger's bye) Torrey Smith (just received him two weeks ago. He seems like a good bounce back candidate capable of big games. But still not being targeted a ton and not a lot of confidence in him every week) I received: Chris Ivory (hands down the best NYJ back. Hoping he gets some more 4+ passes as he did last week going forward. Seems like a decent bet to match T Smith) Bishop Sankey (not done exceptionally well but still being fed the ball. With Shonn Greene as his only real competition, I like Sankey's chances to have an extended period to improve his on-field results. He'll be a bench piece most weeks and a flex option, but has the opportunity to turn it on and be a nice asset down the stretch. He holds more value to my team than Russell Wilson). Seems like a lot of intelligent FFB minds that post here. Anybody want to make me feel better? Seem like a safe trade even if upside is not a ton?
