  1. quote="Slide Castro Slide"] If there's anybody who can read Korean, I'd love to know what the article has to say. The translator in Chrome isn't perfect but it does a good enough job to get the gist of the article. Talks about how much he received, how the Cubs have been recruiting him since his sophomore year of high school, speaks to the difficulties he expects to face while acclimating to a new culture (with specific reference to the difficulties present in "MiLB baseball-life" - which I thought was interesting), and he's excited to learn the English language and get started towards his dream of playing in the ML.

  4. Maybe just posting a video he is capable of swinging a bat (and therefore maybe not long before he's playing again)?
  5. God, now we are complaining about having to play @ Pittsburgh in the WC game? (which is obviously not a foregone conclusion on several levels)
  6. Brett posted an article that said Hendricks actually through four 4-seamers last night that averaged at 92 mph and one that topped out at 93 (per Brooks). If he can register a few of those throughout the game that only makes the rest of his repertoire play up even further. http://www.bleachernation.com/2015/07/01/kyle-hendricks-big-fastball-and-other-bullets/
  7. me too!!!
  8. Not to mention if the Cubs got to pick their starter for a one game playoff it would almost surely be Arrieta.
  9. Win or lose tonight, I just ask that PossumBoy not have the final post in this thread
  10. Ok, maybe mad was the wrong word. Zach Zaidman was on the radio getting himself all twisted into a pretzel over it. I just think it's a silly criticism. Getting in on this late but with Donaldson and Jeter years ago and other less notables diving head first into the stands for balls, you'd think someone holding an infant in the first row would be more interested in tracking the 230lb dude charging towards him and not a worthless foul ball, but whatever. It all worked out for the dork but yeah, he's no hero. It was probably more likely the ball bounce and carom towards the child than Gonzalez to completely overestimate where the ball would land and dive super-man-style over the tarp and into the stands. Especially since he wasn't running full speed.
  11. Harold just said one of the Cardinal's strengths is that they don't clog the bases. He was referring to them manufacturing runs so I have no clue what he meant. But I'm pretty sure he has no clue either.
  12. Harold see's his first defensive shift. Is AMAZED.
  13. mentioned this in the game thread, but deadspin (or screengrabber or whatever) picked up Costa's classless commentary tonight. Completely uncalled for and unprofessional: http://screengrabber.deadspin.com/holy-[expletive]-bob-costas-1714328813#_ga=1.60353643.790635230.1435383555
  14. yeah, deadspin (or screen grabber or whatever hell) picked up costa's [expletive]. what a scumbag http://screengrabber.deadspin.com/holy-[expletive]-bob-costas-1714328813#_ga=1.60353643.790635230.1435383555 Also, probably a bad idea to go back and read what i missed in this thread tonight
  15. dozed off on the couch right after the cubs went up 2-1 with happy thoughts. woke up to Len's voice saying "Cardinals win" this is my least favorite life
  16. So it sounds like they are going to shut down the catcher thing after a while and probably move him into LF for a short period of time before a callup? I'm hoping this is something they'll do closer to August than September. Lots of other interesting stuff here: http://www.bleachernation.com/2015/06/26/theo-epstein-speaks-buyers-and-sellers-lester-schwarber-maddon-more/ Such a scenario seems like an obvious September call-up situation strictly for 2015 bat purposes. Then he can go back to AAA to catch more in early 2016. yeah, I mean I assumed at the very latest we would see him called up in September. I was just selfishly hoping to see him earlier and then let him continue working on his catching some in the offseason.
  17. Brett listened to an Epstein interview this morning and this was his summary re: Schwarber being recalled at some point this year: So it sounds like they are going to shut down the catcher thing after a while and probably move him into LF for a short period of time before a callup? 18. I'm not a huge NBA fan but I assume someone has made the comparison between Adam Silver and Craig Pelton who played the Dean of Greendale CC in the show Community? http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/community-sitcom/images/6/63/Craig_Pelton.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120621204559
  19. Not really upset at Denorfia, but had that happened to the "mentally weak" Castro to end the game then he would have been crucified.
  20. It's early and the Cubs were getting a lot better swings on Bolsinger in the bottom of the second. I bet they at least add a couple soon to make it interesting at the very least. Of course Hendricks has to keep them at bay.
  21. GD i was coming here to post the same thing.
  22. And it's ironic you mention that because I'm sure on many occasions opposing fan bases have been infuriated when they've gotten shut down by Hendricks. Most recently May 21st complete game SO.
