  1. I know if I show up late, hungover, and unable to perform they will intrude in my personal life by removing me from their payroll. Even if it was for the first time? That seems a little extreme. In my job, if I show up under the influence of alcohol or drugs, I'm terminated. If I get a DWI, I'm terminated. I can drink all I want on my own time. I can go to all the gentleman's clubs or carouse about on my free time at will. But if I get a DWI or ever happen to be believed to be under the influence at work, they can order me to be tested. If I refuse, I'm terminated. If I consent and I test to be under the influence, i'm terminated. So, while I have a right to do what I want on my own time, there are strict parameters that surround that. Do you believe your employer is doing the right thing? Since it's a school, yeah, I'd think so. Same with a pilot or anyone involved with public transport. But under the influence and hungover are two different things, you wouldn't get terminated if you were talking with co-workers about being hungover, would you, Vance? What does a DUI have to do with being an effective teacher? There's a lot more to teaching than just telling kids their multiplication tables and teaching how to diagram a sentence. Teacher's are/can/should be role models to impressionable kids, and a guy or girl who drinks and drives isn't exactly fitting that bill.
  2. NTC or not, I can't imagine that anyone wants Eyre, considering that he sucks and has an albatross of a contract. Just one of many albatross contract's on this roster. Was it Eyre that I heard on ESPN1000 say that his agent didn't even offer a counter offer to Hendry's contract proposal? Way to know the market Jimbo. I heard that it went down like this, Hendry called him and made his offer. Eyre's agent replied with "that's an interesting offer Jim, we'll certainly...wait, did you say million?" Reports have it that the contract was signed, sealed and delivered before Hendry had finished his sentence.
  3. I propose "this is really frustrating, but after last season I'm prepared for anything." by Me.
  4. I really like Matt Barnes. And Lebron James is disgusting. He's going to hit his prime in 4 years or so and just be unstoppable. Ten years ago, he would have been in college, averaging 40 points per game.
  5. Yeah, we're still waiting on first hand proof of this.
  6. Christ. This is such a bad situation for the Cardinals. Do they go on all season honoring a person who it now appears died while driving drunk? He's lucky he didn't kill someone else, then it would have really been a black eye. EDIT Really hope that wasn't Freudian
  7. I like Payne, and I'm rooting for him, but if his "horribly flawed analysis" agrees with the majority of the scouts, well, what can you do?
  8. I say who cares if he was drinking or not. It's very tragic and very sad regardless. It is very sad and tragic regardless. But it's important to acknowledge the drinking and driving, if, in fact, he was drinking and driving. So, I would say everybody should care. It's an ongoing national problem that people can solve on their own with an ounce of common sense. It's nothing but stupidity that fails to prevent such tragedies. I see no reason why people can't speculate about the circumstances, considering what happened and what has emerged so far. Seriously. Obviously we don't know anything for sure at the moment, but imagine if the tow truck hadn't been there to act as a buffer and he ran into a parked car. Things would have been a lot worse, and if he was drinking, I doubt there would be so much heart break.
  9. I can only imagine what kinds of nicknames this guy got called while he was growing up
  10. It just underscores what Quinn had to work with, i.e. very little. Yeah, a 1,000 yard rusher at running back, one receiver with over 1,000 yards and one with over 900. It was really Quinn and a bunch of scrubs back there. Just because they aren't pro prospects doesn't mean they weren't great college football players. Rhema Mcknight was a drop machine, and any RB on that roster could have gained 1000 yards. THe only weapon was Jeff S. If their drop machine WR came just over 90 yards short of 1,000 and "any" runningback could have gone over 1,000 yards, doesn't that sort of dispel the notion of having "nothing to work with"?
  11. 154. dmgoforth Pierre doesn't put out, he gets out 108 Holla
  12. Roast, please stop.
  13. I don't want to assume too much here, but I worked at a restaurant in the past for a couple years, and not once did we ever offer a cab ride for someone that hadn't been drinking. It's going to be an odd turn of events if he was drinking and driving.

  15. Double-duty. The Bears are really on the forefront of the NFL's new cost-cutting measures.
  16. Don't get too excited, with the rising cost of tackling dummies, the Bears have begun to sign NCAA washouts to take their place.
  17. yes, thankfully we can finally put an end to that debate, which has consumed the board for weeks. Thank god, tensions have been at an all time high around here, mostly due to that 50 page monstrosity of a thread.
  18. I think Atlanta would laugh us off the phone if we offered Jones+Gallagher for Saltamacchia. I doubt Jones+Veal gets it done too, but I'd take either deal.
  19. Don't try these jedi mind tricks on us, pal.
  20. That's a pretty dumb argument. The fact is, he's hitting almost .250 with more homeruns and RBI's than our entire outfield. I don't think you understand what he meant by that.
  21. Haha, Miami is just giving up.
  22. It's just an old philosophical term that Aristotle used for untimely deaths.
  23. I don't know, I consider it cheap when someone misrepresents what someone said in order to make a point of their own, but that's just me.
  24. When reading that, I don't want to make any early assumptions but...... How the hell do you die from rear ending someone? Unless it's some kind of gruesome Final Destination type thing. What? It said it was on the highway. Think of how fast he would have been going. Ahh, I guess I didn't catch that.
  25. In other words, look the eff out when his luck evens out. Ehh, a low babip happens when a lot of your hits are going out of the park. Even with all the home runs, Sammy's probably just a .250 hitter anymore, so unless his power goes out, his babip will probably stay low.
