  1. I linked the 5 injuries above that don't include the Giles collision or the ball to the elbow, which were both freak injuries he had no control over.
  2. Oh, but wait.. he did... Doesn't matter, though. He's "soft." I gave you both the 5 examples you claimed didn't exist. I'm not saying he's definitely soft. He's either soft or has a very weak body. Either way, it's pretty much the same thing.
  3. Yeah, you never see pitchers hurt a muscle in their shoulder. Ever. It's nigh impossible for a pitcher to strain a shoulder muscle. I mean, how could that even happen? Name me other pitchers that have been on the DL 4 or 5 times for strains and the like in 4 years. Prior's not on that list. 1. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/0902/1426202.html 2. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1783863 3. http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/7502140 4. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2012934 5. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=2388000 He only missed one start in No. 3 though.

  5. I don't see other pitchers in the league having these kinds of problems.
  6. Too bad Dusty didn't think of it.
  7. As long as we are gonna post threads on Mitre, may as well get Corey in there too. Every player who got an AB got at least one hit. Only one K for C-Patt though. At least he's making progress.
  8. Despite a diagnosis by a medical doctor and several statements from O'Neal saying otherwise? Everytime Prior goes down for no apparent reason, he as everybody thinking it could be a torn rotator cuff or something and it's either A.)nothing B.)strain
  9. Even Bush got re-elected. That's a whole other can of worms. I like that Dusty says he deserves a raise because attendance and revenue were up for the years he's been here. Yep Dusty, all the fans came out to see you big guy. You were the sole cause for the extra revenue. Remember all of those "In Dusty we trusty!" signs. I hope no one from here brought one of those to the park. Trusting your ball club to Dusty is like trusting a Ferrari to Stevie Wonder. http://www.festastuff.com/Merchant2/images/dusty_mens_thumb_fade.jpg
  10. I'm surprised Moises Alou isn't on the list. He's been a clutch hitter his whole career. Do those stats include the playoffs? And another note, it doesn't surprise me Grace is at the top because he had more opportunities since his team often down late in the game.
  11. Prior was never hurt. As per usual, he thought he was hurt, was examined, and it was determined he couldn't be in better health. They say he had a strain....maybe he did. But basically he just sat out spring training and is making up the time now.
  12. Jeez, that was a joke because Dusty said it.
  13. I think betting against the Cubs is a good idea because it makes it easier to take the loss if you lose the bet since the Cubs won. And the main reason, the Cubs always lose at somepoint no matter how good they are. I wouldn't feel bad about it at all. I feel entitled to the money and right to bet for it after all the money they have made from fans and not won.
  14. Designated Catcher? You could actually do that in the AL if you had the pitcher bat.
  15. It's called hitting, not walking, dude!
  16. Trade down for what? This isn't the NFL draft, where 2nd and 3rd round picks are almost as valuable as 1st round picks. 2nd round picks are infrequently successful in the NBA. I hope and think the Bulls will take the best big available with their top 4 pick. Get a decent reserve who can play D in the trade (Trenton Hassell). I would trade the pick for Darko too but Orlando just gave thier pick for him so it probably wouldnt happen.
  17. I think it is still up for debate whether Prior misses time because he is soft or not.
  18. I didn't know that. I don't remember it being said that Kimm had a fair shot at the job, and even if he did, I wouldn't have believed it. That 2002 team was very, very bad. If Hendry based his decision to keep him on what he did with that team and not his peronality qualities and philosophy, he is dumber than I thought. All I remember about Kimm was him accidentally taking Sosa out in a close game and admitting it.
  19. The more I think about it, the more I'd like to trade down 4 or 5 spots with a team that wants to move up to the top because even the couple guys I like might not come out.
  20. None of the above. Blech. That's the whole point. If wer'e gonna speculate about who the next manager could be, let's talk about the types of guys that actually have a chance at getting interviewed by the Cubs. And after doing so, we can ask ourselves if we still want Dusty gone for one of them. Why do you assume those guys over guys like Davey Johnson, Dierker, or Gonzalez? If you mean former managers, then Johnson and Dierker fit the bill. Rumor has it that if Baker hadn't accepted the Cubs job prior to the 03 season that Gonzalez really impressed in interviews. I think the trio of Dierker, Johnson, and Gonzalez are just as likely as Fregsosi, Williams, or Howe. And I'd take any of the former over the later. Well, I don't know much about Gonzalez, but I'd be shocked to see the Cubs get somebody who doesn't have experience. Dierker is a sabremetrician=no chance with Hendry & Co. running things. I'd also say no to Johnson because I can't think of a manager more opposite of Dusty Baker, so I couldn't see us hiring someone like that. Not to say I wouldn't want either of them though, I'm just looking at things objectively and weighing the facts.

If wer'e gonna speculate about who the next manager could be, let's talk about the types of guys that actually have a chance at getting interviewed by the Cubs. And after doing so, we can ask ourselves if we still want Dusty gone for one of them. My question is, why are those the types, and how would you know? There are a lot of things that go into it. Look at who was interviewed in the Baker and to a lesser extent, the Baylor hiring process. Look at the guys who were available then and who they were disciples of (i.e. Ned Yost-Bobby Cox), etc.
  22. If we are talking about our dream staff of available guys that we probably would never go after, I'd go with: Manager: Cito Gaston Pitching: Ray Miller Hitting: Walt Hriniak Bench: Joe Nosak Running/D: Tom Emanski
