  1. I understand that, but with the bases loaded? It might only be perception on my part, but it seems that most first pitches when a pitcher is in a jam are balls (pitcher's pitches) than strikes. I don't know. All I can tell you is that other than Ramirez and Pierre, every player in the lineup has bad numbers with the bases loaded.
  2. All of them ahead of Lou. I'd be happy with McClendon, none of the others though, especially Howe. I would hate to have McClendon on this team. All of my Pirate fan friends hated the guy and he never impressed me in the times I've watched him manage a team. I think he's the best from my list. So who do you prefer: Fregosi, Williams, or Howe?
  3. Most hitters have high batting averages and slugging % on the first pitch. That's why they like to swing at it. It's often a fastball.
  4. All of them ahead of Lou. Which one of the four would you want though, seriously because this is the type of manager we are getting if Dusty goes.

  6. I'm all for replacing Baker with a better manager, it's just Piniella isn't that manager. Give me Davey Johnson, Fredi Gonzalez, or Larry Dierker any day. Well, knowing the Cubs, we're probably gonna get something along the lines of Lloyd McClendon, Jim Fregosi, Jimy Williams, Art Howe, so who do you like from that list?
  7. Might just be the fight to get spanked by the Heat.. 8) If Shaq ends up being out, you never know.
  8. It's a pretty good stadium, excellent ballpark food.
  9. Whatever, I'd rather win than anything else. If we win every year and never have a rookie on the team, I could care less. If I liked to watch a team full of young players, I'd watch be a fan of the Devil Rays. Hopefully we can get a good manager, and forget about getting some guy you like who preaches the importance of walks or anything like that because it ain't happening. Just keep that in mind.
  10. I can't imagine any of them being good managers. I'm just saying I can't remember any young players he had that were good that he didn't play. No, he definitely gave playing time to his hall of famers. Well those were three young guys, maybe not so much in the case of Johnson although he wasn't really established, and Junior was established, but he did play Arod from the beginning, haha. Dusty would have started Luis Sojo.

  12. I'd rather keep Dusty than have Piniella managing the team. You can't be serious.
  13. I'd rather just let Lou pick his own staff. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/news/2002/05/28/mariners_devilrays_ap/lg_piniella_ap-01.jpg
  14. Well, Williams was supposed to be that now and we didnt have a guy like Miller last year.
  15. Probably had one of the top 5 seasons by a pitcher ever in 85.
  16. Well, I'll still take Piazza over Hundley.
  17. What is the purpose of this? Does this strengthen your side of this debate? I don't think so. It convinced me.
  18. I take it you didn't watch any Mets games with Piazza behind the plate in the last few years. What the hell are you all talking about. There is only one. http://reds.enquirer.com/2002/06/26/redslarue_zoom.jpg
  19. An overreaction can't be something I've said for the past 3 seasons. I find it a little hard to understand how people can actually defend his Defensive abilities. Seriously. Do you actually watch the games? Amazing. Like I said, very good hitter but c'mon he is a TERRIBLE Catcher. This garbage is nothing new here. SO again, let's all just agree as a whole and move onto another topic we can easily disagree on and LEGITAMTELY debate, for example whether or not it's impossible for a team to win the Division with Jones hitting 5th in the order. Hey, I don't like his defense/game calling either, but he's the best we have. You don't want to see Blanco or Soto starting, do you?
  20. You can say that passed ball was the worst defensive play you've seen by a catcher.
  21. 6 runs is pretty good for the offense. good point I just got the last inning. Did the bats look ok, or was it the same as last year? I know all the runs came off of 3 2-run homers. They had about 5 or 6 flyouts to the track/wall.
  22. Barrett rarely blocks the plate.
  23. 6 runs is pretty good for the offense.
