  1. Another is that with Hairston starting at second, we dont have anyone who can play outfield on the bench.
  2. Mabry will hit way more than twice that by himself. How many homers do you think he is gonna get? 10, 15?
  3. Then why does anyone want to take Williams, an established quality pitcher, out of the rotation for these two guys.
  4. You really have to get over your hangup with spring stats. They are meaningless. They mean nothing. They don't tell you a thing about a pitcher or hitter. I beg to differ when you are talking about guys getting the last pitcher spot on the roster or the last bench spot. Historically, the guys who did better in spring training were better in the majors at that particular point in time.
  5. He usually just starts slow. Unfortunately, we need to at least tred water until Wood/Prior/Miller arrive. Well, I like Guzman and Marshall but they both walk too many guys. I don't know if I like the idea of both of them in the rotation at the same time. Actually, Guzman walks very few batters, historically speaking. Well, K/BB ratio has concerned me this spring .57 K/BB.
  6. I was basing that off the spring stats. They have something like 13 combined walks.
  7. If it came to just one guy, with guys like this who are fighting harder than anybody to get a major league job, I'll take the guy who performing at a high level over the guy with so-so stats. It means something to me that he put the work in and played his way on.

  9. Leave Williams in there. Make Marshall or Guzman the #5. You might remember when we got Williams, he had a 9.39 ERA in six AAA starts. Then he just turned in on from the first day he was with the Cubs. He'll turn it on again when the season starts.
  10. Sorry, I didn't see it there.
  11. Blanco, Hairston, Perez, Mabry are all taking up bench spots. If we're going with 12 pitchers then only one can be kept. I thought they were going with 11 this year?
  12. I like Restovich too, why can't we keep both?
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2386761 I'm lovin' it!
  14. Pagan is hitting .360 this spring, and according to Dusty is a switch hitter...I'm sure Restovich could be a solid player but my vote would be for Pagan at this point. Spring training performance means very little, Pagan has over 2000 minor league PA's that he hasn't been able to do anything with, especially hit for power. Restovich on the other hand, has much better past performance to go with his strong spring, and there's no one(like Hairston in Pagan's case) that makes his presence on the roster redundant. Guys who get the 25th roster spot on a team usually aren't top prospects. I like Pagan. I think he'll be better than Macias and thus an improvement.
  15. I think Gordon is expenable. He's a good scorer but not a very good defender. I don't think he fits on this team.
  16. How about Gordon, Sweetney and the Bulls first rounder for KG. Use the Knicks 1st on Thomas. Sign Justin Gray, Rashad Anderson, Denham Brown or Terrell Everett if they go undrafted.
  17. Nice straw man. I think Paxson will make the team better this off season. Overpaying for a name player won't accomplish that, and Paxson's moves to date suggest he recognizes that. I would trade both the picks in a Garnett deal though.
  18. I mentioned that incident earlier in the thread. Most ball-less thing I have ever seen a player do on the field.

I think Tyrus Thomas is that guy, especially for us. He reminds me a lot of Iguodala, and he's taller. Exactly what the Bulls need next to Chandler.
  20. Cransik is a moron. How can the worst case for the Cardinals be to finish second to the Astros (who are arguably only the 4th best team in the division)? In the same article he says the best case for the Cubs is to win the World Series.
  21. That's odd, because most people can. Then I should get my ears checked because I remember many a Hundley and Patterson AB precluded and followed by a roar of boos.
  22. Yeah, that's what we needs, crowds determining personel decisions. Augie! Augie! Augie! I didn't imply the crowds should always determine personel decisions, but they should have some influence when a situation deteriates like with Hundley, Harris, Hawkins and Patterson. Even if they don't, in situations like with those players, it's all you can do. You can't help yourself after watching them fail game after game for years. EDIT: And by the way, that season Augie got called up, he was probably the best SS on the team.
  23. Well, I think what it accomplishes is that it lets management know the fans don't want the guy starting or even on the roster if possible. Hundley, Harris, Hawkins and Patterson are all gone now. When you know the player is not going to turn things around and you don't like paying to see him play, you boo him. Just like if you are eating at a restaurant and your meal has hair on it, you don't just eat around it, you complain about it and get something different.
  24. i didn't go out of my way to boo them before they even did anything on the field. So you never booed them before an AB?
  25. Did you guys cheer Todd Hundley and Lenny Harris too?
