  1. I would rather an individual own the Cubs, instead of a corp. like the Trib. owning the Cubs. At least w/ an individual you know who makes the final decision. It's all about shareholders now. It's not really about winning, it's about making money. It's like the Trib didn't understand that you can still make money if you put a great product on the field and they win more then 60-70 games a year.
  2. i bought one of those, i really like it I'm selling them on eBay for $64.99 plus $9.50 shipping. I've sold quite a few and everyone seems to like them. BTW, I'd give anyone here at NSBB $5 off on one at my site. (I'll even do that for those of you that are fans of another team as well. I carry all teams.) http://hobbyboxsports.com/Maj2BP_ChC6800Nav.aspx
  3. Nevermind, I don't have those yet. I have the 59/50, but those are the wool hats. I do have the Cool Base Jerseys, though. http://hobbyboxsports.com/images/CUBscoolbase.jpg I know, I know........... shameless advertising!!!
  4. I'll have both of these available on my website very soon: New Era 5950's http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/cbbryan1/cubsblue5950.jpghttp://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/cbbryan1/Cubsred5950.jpg
  5. Hitting .286 with 28 homers and 117 RBI's is hardly suckage, but he was terrible last year and was terrible in ST this year and is now a defensive liability. Yeah, I realize he wasn't as good last year and in ST. My thoughts were that he was so young he could regain his form. Again, I don't know that he'd fit well w/ this club anyway considering DeRosa, Theriot, EPatt, etc.

    Week 1

I don't see ANY problems with that!!!
  7. He's a decent player and still young at 25. It's not like we're talking about Tony Womack.
  8. What would you guys/gals think of Cantu? I've always like him and thought he could be a productive player, but I don't know if he'd fit w/ this team. From CBSsportsline.com: Fantasy Implications:
  9. I've got it as well. No problems
  10. I waited until the last minute, but I'm in: Group A: Big Papi Ortiz Group B: Soriano and L. Berkman Group C: J. Dye, J. Morneau, and C. Utley Group D: M. Cuddyer, B. McCann, H. Matsui, R. Zimmerman, M. Tejada Secret Pick: Delmon Young
  11. I think players should get what they want, but keep in mind where there going. Too many guys think about the money and not the team that they're going to. Mike Hampton going to Colorado for example. Kevin Millwood leaving Atlanta. Same thing happens in all other major sports. How many LB that are built for the 3-4 sign a huge deal to play in a 4-3 and then struggle because it's not there element.......... IMO, it's a shame, but it is the business side of sports. There are far too many players that leave teams that are perfectly suited to them for bigger money. Granted, some guys aren't going to fit into that "perfectly suited" teams budget anyway and have to go, but there's still quite a few (especially Boras clients) that only see green and not situation.
  12. That's somewhat of a reach! The Cubs acquired free agents, not associated w/ another club. It's not like they bought the Cardinals and therefore their worth more. That quote is from Tim Mahon, a Chicago-based economist with Anderson Economic Group LLC. His company has deemed the acquisition of players as an impetus for increased value. I will leave the business of evaluating worth to his judgement. However, I can see his point; the Cubs signing Alfonso Soriano and retaining Aramis Ramirez, in effect, prevented rival teams from benefiting from their services. I understand that and agree that it prevents a rival team from signing them. So, when a company invents something and copyrights it........... is that "akin to a large corporation’s acquisitions of smaller rivals?" No, it prevents their rival company from having, or producing the same thing. Acquisition of a rival and Preventing a rival are different in my mind
  13. lol Chris, if you ever need me to verbally berate your local paper, feel free to call. :lmao: LMAO!!! That's really funny!
  14. And then there is a Cubs fans response. I'm not sure where Monroe is in the state. Vance, how far are you from Houston anyway? Depending on which route you take and how fast you drive, approximately 6 hours. I can make it faster, but I go back roads and speed. Well, it's probably double that to Chicago then.

  16. Thankfully, I already have DirecTV and the EI package. This is a mess, though!
  17. I believe it said the Brewers where last and the Dodgers were just before them. Pretty low regardless.
  18. Vance, when do they announce this thing? Did you say Sunday?
  19. Prior shouldn't have said "I'm an employee." There's a few different ways he could have answered this that would have been better. I didn't see the interview, but the way the column is written makes him look really bad. Prior obviously wants to be on the ML club. I don't blame the guy for being alittle upset. I think there will come a time that he'll come to terms with the fact that it's probably the best thing for him and this whole "employee" thing will blow over.
  20. Both Cubs World Series years started w/ spring training in West Baden, IN. Maybe that's been the problem all these years! Let's go back!
  21. Whoops! If you look up a couple spots, I already did. We'll all act suprised, though!
