  1. I have a free ESPN Baseball league and can actually do keepers if the players would like to continue the league at the end of the year. PM me with your e-mail if you're interested and I'll add you to the league. 16 team league
  2. I for one, think Soriano could be better as a Cub then he was as a National. It's a better line-up then the Nationals and in a better hitters division.
  3. If that's an insult, I'll sign-up for being insulted daily!!!
  4. I was waiting for that! LOL!
  5. How about April 27 @ STL does anyone have that one?
  6. And yet many of the same folks have no problem with Marquis wearing #21. Because it's just a number! I can't believe I haven't heard, "It's just a ballpark!" yet!!!!! /sarcasm
  7. So much for being an attorney! I hope Bonds is the next one to go down!!!
  8. I don't understand this at all. Why not package Ryu w/ other excess parts and get a better player? Not that Ryu is all that exciting of a prospect, but with as many prospects as the D-Rays have, you couldn't package a couple of our guys for one of theirs? Just a lowsy trade, IMO.
  9. Thats my point, 7 may be more than fair market price, but he is not in an open market. Do you think he'd accept 7 million on the open market? No! 7 million is way below market value for his production. It's not like he's asking for 15.5 million like Z is. If this goes to arbitration, Cabrera has a very good chance of winning.
  10. When you get no money from consessions and parking, have to pay rent in your own ballpark, and only get about 8k fans per game every dollar is important. The Marlins need to move more than any other organization in baseball. Loria is an idiot but he has good people running the team. I hear you, that's another player's salary for the year with their payroll. Small payroll or not, they'd look pretty foolish to loose that kind of talent over such a small amount. If it were Pierre, the Marlins would be justified. For his production and considering the current market 7 million is a deal!!! He isn't a free agent, he should not make free agent money. I don't think 7 million is free agency money, do you? For him, certainly not. But your point seemed to be something like "7.4 or 6.8, who cares, either way it is a steal" Is that my point, or is it that he should get market value even though he's not a free agent? My point is that 7 million for Cabrera's production is cheap in this day in age. If he were a free agent he'd get significantly more. I don't think it's too lofty of a number for him to request. As far as 7.4 or 6.8 who cares, I never said anything like that. I simply stated that at 7 million it's more then fair market price.

  13. Well: Willis for Clement and 6 fingers. Big winner: Marlins Lee for Choi. Big winner: Cubs Renting Pierre for Nolasco, Mitre, Pinto. Winner: Marlins Time to even up the score? I heard on XM that Cabrera is only asking for 7 Million. I didn't realize the Marlins were so cheap!!! I don't know what a club would have to give up to get Cabrera, but he's a great player for sure.
  14. Who knew, the guy with Soriano and Zambrano in his sig would also like the best player on the team. Yeah, I just recently changed my sig. It was the Bears (Super Bowl time). And prior to that it was Felix Pie.
  15. I agree 100% with you on this, Tim. I'm not against the Cubs trading anyone on this roster, but when it comes to Z there has to be a long-term deal, or a trade. If it's the trade it better blow your socks off. Yeah, I pretty much agree with this also. It's got to be a STELLAR package. If we can get that, I'm for trading zambrano. Otherwise, sign him. But I hope to gosh he loves the cubs and can give us a considerable good deal at or around 15-16 mil per for about 5 years. . I think if Z agrees to 15-16 per, the Cubs will have to go more then 5 guaranteed years. I think he could be seeking a 7-8 year deal. At the end of that deal, he'd only be what......................33! He's gonna make a ton of money!!!! At least 2 huge deals in his future.
  16. I'd love Miguel on the Cubs. He'd be one of my favorite players right off the bat.

  18. Chris, I like ya man, but it's a freakin 4 page thread! It would take all of 3-4 minutes to read it all!
  19. how many people played with Ron Santos number after he retired? I think at least half a dozen. Did people cry when Mark Guthrie had the audacity to take Fergie Jenkins and Maddux's 31 ? (not directed at you, just sayin overall) I love this argument! Somehow, the fact that Guthrie wore #31 makes it okay for Marquis to wear #21. Marquis shouldn't be wearing Sammy's number. The Cubs shouldn't have made it available. I blame the Cubs. I don't wish bad fortune on Marquis, but I wonder about his thought process in accepting the number. Does he not know it was Sammy's? Sammy isint even out of baseball yet where as by the time guthrie wore 31, Jenkins was a hall of famer Let me understand what your saying. Because Fergie was in the HOF it was a disgrace that Guthrie wore the number, but because Sammy is still an active player we can somehow forget what he meant to baseball, or to the Cubs? Sosa is an all-time great player, for any team. The fact the Cubs don't remember him as that is plain ridiculous.
  20. To all the folks that say "it's just a number".................. What would you have thought if Jose Nieves would have wore number 23 in 1998 after Ryno retired? I have argued this point a few times and I have to say it really annoys me. Sports teams retire numbers to show respect to the GREAT players in their teams history. Sosa is undoubtedly one of the best Cubs of all-time. Marquis shouldn't wear #21 and it doesn't become a nonfacorif the Cubs decide in 10 years to retire his number.

  22. He wasn't a crappy lefty. He just got old. Oh, he was pretty crappy the past few years. That's because he got old. regardless of age he was crappy. i remember being scared everytime he took the mound towards the end of his stay in chicago. Fassero and Veres................those two made my stomach turn when they pitched with the Cubs.
  23. We'd sign Mike Matheny out of retirement for a 2-3 inning guaranteed contract.
  24. My cuts are made.
