  1. I don't think the Bears stretched the Colt D early enough in the game. I don't know that it would have mattered all that much. Rex wasn't on with the long ball. The first interception, Moose was there, but the ball was floated. Bad throw. The second interception, Berrian had the CB beat, he was behind Sanders (S) and Rex threw the ball short. If Rex leads Berrian on that throw it's a TD. The D was terrible. They never changed their protection on the short pass. The Bears didn't get beat down the field, they got beat by playing off the receivers and not tackling well. Or not covering the RB/TE off the line. Just a bad scheme all the way around.
  2. I just kept thinking how different this game would have been w/ Harris and Brown in the line-up. Health may be the big deal next year. Schedule will be much tougher too, not going to be as easy to clinch that 1st round bye.
  3. Me either. But it definitely doesn't sting nearly as bad. If I were to have heard before the game that this is how it all would have gone down, I wouldn't have been surprised. Disappointed and pissed, yes, but not terribly surprised. Can't say the same for '03. Not even close. I'll be largely over this in a couple days. I'm still not over '03, and was inconsolable for a couple weeks immediately afterwards. I can't even watch that documentary on the '03 season. It gives me stomach pain. I don't know that this game will ever quite equal that, but it's still pretty disappointing.
  4. Me either. But it definitely doesn't sting nearly as bad. If I were to have heard before the game that this is how it all would have gone down, I wouldn't have been surprised. Disappointed and pissed, yes, but not terribly surprised. Can't say the same for '03. The Cubs in '03 were the better team and that is why that sucked as bad as it did. Watching the game today the Colts were the better team so it is disappointing but not so gut wrenching. Manning was going to get the MVP no matter what if the Colts won. It should have been split between the two running backs. When Jim Nance mentioned that at the end of the game Simms seemed shocked, like he never even thought of that and just automatically wrote in Manning. Most of the voters probably did the same. I agree with all those statements. It was just a really frustrating game. I really thought the Bears had excellent opportunities and they let them pass by. I'll cheer up in a few days when pitchers and catchers report.
  5. The most frustrating thing about that game was that both interceptions, the WRs were wide open. A good throw on that second interception and Berrian has a TD. It came down to the offenses execution, it just wasn't there. Every time the D got the ball, the offense gave it right back. Just a terrible, terrible showing all around.
  6. Man, I haven't been this bummed since the summer of '03
  7. Myself, I'd prefer LF: Cabrera CF: Beltran RF: Vlad :D I'd like to know if back in 2004 Hendry knew the Cubs payroll was slated for a big increase over the next 2 years. I hope he was ignorant of it because failing to give Beltran $119M looks pretty stupid in light of Soriano's $136M deal. Also, passing on Vlad because we had Alou and wanted Maddux seemed utterly asinine even at the time. Yeah, don't get me started on Vlad and the Cubs not going after him. And just a few short years after offering a pile of money to Mike Hampton!!!!
  8. I wouldn't mind Nathan depending on what happens w/ Dempster/Wood. Young and Dunn might be interesting as well.
  9. I'd rather spend 16 million this year and the next 4-5 on Zambrano. Hendry is hopefully working on that deal, not thinking about Bonds.
  10. I've always been a diehard Cub, Bears, and Illinois fan. I grew up outside Champaign-Urbana. Baseball fans in that area are almost 50/50 Cubs/Cardinals, it's almost all Illini fans because of the college and NFL teams are mostly Bears. Although, I have friends from there that are Viking and Packer fans. There was a bunch of bandwagoners when the Rams were good. I'm all about Chicago minus college sports.
  11. Colts get the ball first, go 3 and out, Hester runs back the first ever punt for a TD in Super Bowl history.
  12. I've got some more stuff, I'll keep putting it aside as I go through everything.
  13. Sorry, those are: 96 leaf prefered metal and gold metal 96 pinnacle team spirit 2004 legendary cuts jersey pinnacle tribute card for 2131 games 96 leaf total bases #'d 3/5000 edit: I also have the score tribute http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q65/fnp_cardohoics/RP1.jpg

  15. Awesome. If you ever come across any of Cal's minor league stuff, feel free to let me know. In addition, I'm always interested in the team cards from the 1980 minor league issues. The Charlotte Police issued a set in the summer of 1980 that included Cal. The sets were never collated and were distributed one or two cards at a time. At this point it's believed that only 5 25 card sets exist. I have around 45 individual cards from this set but only have 22 cards in the set. I'd pay a pretty hefty premium to be able to finish my set. I've got the 2 key issues of Peyton but I'm interested in adding some of the other rookie cards. I have his Playoff Contenders Ticket RC in a BGS 8.5 and his SP Authentic (edition of 2000) in PSA Authentic. FWIW I picked this one up tonight on ebay: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/DJAXXFAN/Randon%20NSBB%20pictures/ManningUTJerseyCard.jpg I'm usually not a big fan of what the card is serial numbered, but it's 16 (Manning's UT #) of 20. I've had a couple of his UT jersey cards but I'm a fan of the large swatch of jersey. I'll keep an eye out for the minor league stuff. What cards do you need in the set? I'm getting together some Cal stuff for you. I've got a bunch. I'll try to send you a couple scans when I get them uploaded. I don't really care about serial #s usually. I like #1 or the players #. I lost a bid on a diecut Urlacher rookie that was #'d 44/54 which was his college number which I thought was kinda cool. I'll have to load my scan of Ultimate collection Ryno cut auto #'d 3/7. I have a matching Kirby PUckett as well #'d 3/7.
  16. I can't hardly wait until Sunday! I haven't looked forward to a game so much in my life!!!!
  17. It's more of a hobby. I'm a real estate investor full-time, but the hobby fills the winter.
  18. Chris, I have direct pricing for all box/case merchandise. I can pull from 2 different card shops that are direct and they don't mark me up at all.
  19. I'm a big collector. I do alot of shows nation wide. I was in Morristown, NJ last weekend at a show. I've got some Ripken stuff. I'll have to send you some pictures. I have Eli Manning, but I don't have alot of Peyton. I collect Ryno................. one of my kids is named after him afterall!
  20. I need your opinions on my new website: http://www.hobbyboxsports.com I'm still working on it. Not all the pricing on my boxes and cases are up yet and I haven't even started loading my singles. Just let me know what you think of navigation on the site. I'm a beginner when it comes to setting up a site, so I'm kinda winging it. Any advice would be great! Chuck
  21. Right after saying, "I'm going to bleeping Disney World!!!"
  22. I think you might see a Eyre/Dempster trade, but I don't know that it would effect the major league roster. I think Eyre before Demp. Wood will have to prove he's healthy enough to close regularly.
  23. The Floyd signing screems Todd Hundley revisited to me, but as a Cub fan I hope he does well and doesn't screw up Murton's progression.
  24. Is this the first mediocre starting pitcher not signed for 10+ million?
  25. I'm taking the Bears all the way!!!!
