  1. I'm sorry, but that's a pair of blatantly racist statements. Are the Giants' American hitters not brain-dead? I didn't say it was right. I don't agree w/ what the guy said. If he had said........brain-dead overpaid ball players swinging at slop all night......................he would of been okay. I didn't understand him to be saying all Caribbean's were stupid, or brain-dead. Or that they were stupid because they were Caribbean. It was just bad, bad wording. On the Cream of Wheat thing. I think it's made worse by the previous statement. I don't know the S.F. radio guy..........I just didn't get the sense that he was attacking racially. That wasn't the intention. But he's right to apologize for it.
  2. Yeah, it's not suprising to me that the Brewers are right there. Bill Hall's much better then Neifi.
  3. The quote was: "brain-dead Caribbean hitters hacking at slop nightly." and about Alou, "You have a manager in Felipe (Alou) whose mind has turned to Cream of Wheat." I don't really understand the need to throw Caribbean in there, but it's not like the guy said all Caribbean people were brain-dead. He said the hitters on there team, that happen to be Caribbean are brain-dead and keep swinging at crap. I'm sure he could have worded it differently and still got his point accross, but in my view he wasn't trying to throw racial slurs about and put down a whole region of people. While, I understand the whole Cream of Wheat label thing.........I don't think the guy meant it that way. Again, better wording was probably in order there.
  4. Don't kid yourself. It's not going to come together this year. Or any year with The Village Idiot managing this team. Like I said, I have my doubts!
  5. Whether or not the Cubs are a good team, or they're playing like a good team are totally different. There's alot of talent on this Cubs team. It's just a question of whether or not it will all come together before it's too late. I have my doubts too. They make a lot of boneheaded plays and Dusty just doesn't seem to know how to handle the club in different game situations. We'll see how it all works out.
  6. Yes. And Dawson was awesome. You had to be there. I did see him play, though I was a lad at the time. Believe me, at the time I thought he was amazing. Looking at his career stats, he was still very good, but the stats show he wasn't as awesome as I remembered. It's funny, too. When I was a kid, for whatever reason, I thought Shawon Dunston was absolutely awesome. Now when I look at his stats, I realize he was pretty terrible. I'm talking even worse than Neifi levels of bad. But as a kid, I thought he was the best shortstop in the world. If I had the baseball knowledge I have now while watching in those days, I would have hated Dunston a lot. http://www.sperts.net/editorials/images/marg_shawnometer.JPG Those were the days!!!!!!
  7. Neifi hit over .300 to the ASB. And he's hit a GS this year..........gotta be him!!!!!
  8. He said he didn't know what it was. When he argued his case he could not name the item he took that had steroids in it or remember anything that it could be. He didn't know what it was? Doesn't MLB tell you what substance you tested positive for? That sounds a bit out there to me.
  9. What does Joe Morgan have to do with this? On a serious note, how will this affect Franklin's hall of fame chances? Yeah, really!!! At least they let Raffy get 3,000. Franklin should have been given a shot at his 300th!
  10. I wish someone would just flat out ask Raffy................ What did you test positive for? How was it injested accidentally? I'd like him to try and "compel" his fans!
  11. But there's no telling what he tested positive for. If all MLB is saying is that he violated their drug policy, we don't know if he actually took hard steroids (which is exactly what the league wants). That's true! I know in Rincon's case, if I recall correctly, it was something in a supplement.............purely taken on accident. While still bone-headed, at least it's understandable.
  12. I'm still suprised that there's been so many pitchers caught. I always think of the huge hitters when thinking of the roids debate, but it seems more and more the pitchers have used just as much.
  13. Pitch count = 98 He's probably done for the evening!
  14. Holly won the Rookie of the Year award with the Dodgers!
  15. I noticed his pitch count was up there.................84 in 4.1 IP.........wow!
  16. Neifi for A-Rod straight up? We could throw in Remmy..........I hear the Yanks need a lefty.
  17. Was it that long ago that Sosa actually took the advice of a hitting coach and worked on his swing? I remember hearing all about it during the games. I just find it strange that he had so much success when he started taking the ball to all fields and laying off the low-outside slider...............but now he won't listen, or ask for advice to get back on his game. It just doesn't make alot of sense to me.
  18. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  19. It's the Chief! ILL INI
  20. Does anyone know exactly when he'll be back? I hadn't heard for sure.
