  1. That was an interesting No-no no-no tonight. Hopefully the Angles can find their bats and beat up on Lowe tomorrow.
  2. It sounds pretty cool. Curious to see how this compares to what we have done in the past. I like teams pretty much being limited to 3 stud players that are not exempt.
  3. I didn't get within many yards of Cuban. Damn little kids everywhere on the field. Cuban's jersey number was "$". Lot of talk about the Mavericks, like I give damn about them. I also didn't realize Mike Modano was doin Willa Ford. I became more impressed with him after that. DeMarcus Ware hit a foul ball that was coming straight towards me, but the butch woman in the row in front of me stood up and moved to her right, right in front of me. The ball literary hit her right in the throat so I felt a little bad even though she took my ball.
  4. I would say that is a much bigger loss for Germany than Villa for Spain.
  5. With them losing Sheets to FA I don't think they would mind paying CC. I think the problem is more him not wanting to stay with the Brewers. Even if the Cubs get him I think he will become a FA just to test it out.
  6. I guess we might as well start threads about every other crappy player who won't help us win who could be traded for. By that estimate thats about 50% of all players even in baseball.
  7. I've heard some good things about the six freshman coming in. It'll be interesting to see if they can start rebuilding the program since theyll all be together for so long. However, I won't be surprised if Anderson isn't around to see them graduate. He needs to make the postseason (even NIT) sometime within the next two years or he's probably gone. I am not sure how good the South will be either. Texas will still be solid, but not near as good as last season.
  8. I just had a thought that nearly made me shoot some gin out of my nose. I pictured Lou Gehrig wearing those AC Slater jeans. I had thought Alec Baldwin when I first saw the picture.
  9. The New York Mets might single handedly beat me this week. Wish we made the trade we had talked about a while back Raw :-).
  10. Yes, this. I'd miss Gallagher but if parting with him means getting CC, then I am all for it. Of course, we have to sign Sabathia to an extension too. I think its going to be very hard for any team trading for him to sign him to an extension. They will have the inside track but I just think he is not going to at least test the FA Market. Also if we trade several prospects and lose him, we are still going to be getting those picks too which will soften the blow. I can't speak for this specific situation, but it seems like when guys get traded to a team during their FA year, it seems like they generally will sign an extension if a fair offer is made. I don't know if the's the newness of a team that is different, and thus "better"...or maybe it's faulty perception on my part, but it just seems like that's the way that it usually goes down. I would be willing to bet that some conversations have happened in the process of completing the trade that help indicate how likely one player is to stay after the trade.

  12. No joke, I would much rather be active early rather than later. I don't want to wait till the last hour of the deadline like we did with Nomar.
  13. If he stays healthy up until the deadline and Beane can get true value for him, he absolutely will be traded. Why would Beane hang on to him? Like somebody else said, he's one more injury away from getting nothing for Harden at all when he walks. I'm sure Billy knows that team is overachieving and not really contenders, and he knows Harden won't be part of their long term future. I see no reason why he wouldn't trade him. Is Harden even a FA this season or next season? He has a $7 mil Club Option next year it seems... Assuming 2003 doesn't count towards FA, this would be his 5th season that was part of my questioning. I would assume his extension would run through his last year before FA though.

  15. Getting back on track, I have almost a 20 point lead with a 1 start advantage over Raw. But my 2-3 record against the East isn't great. I need this win to stay tied for 1st, and I am sure Tootie would be happy in the process.
  16. +1. Thats one of the main reasons for the setting the rosters once a week IMO. Do it and be done with it, don't have to worry about it every single day.
  17. Its tough to tell if a 52 year old man can stay healthy for 82 games just in the regular season though.
  18. agreed. it would be just like if a guy got brought off the DL mid-week, in my opinion. Exactly the analogy I was thinking of. Both cases relate to change in status in MLB, and I always understood that to be a valid reason to make a mid-week change. I have no intention of making the change this week simply because I don't even know exactly what day he came up, and I never connected the dots to insert him into the starting lineup until I noticed he started yesterday. I know I personally watched him play on Friday in AA, but he could have gone up on Saturday and if thats the case I would not want to move him mid-week. Still it's good to know, cause I will be making the move once Price gets the call :-)
  19. Nope. I just wasn't sure as I thought you could move a player coming off the DL into the roster, if you could do the same with a minor league player. I can do it on Sunday for next week, just wasn't sure although I bet this has been answered at some point over the years.
  20. Especially after this That game was the reason WHY they did it. I couldn't care less about this because the alternating years method that they employed before this was just about as dumb. How would you decide home field? I personally don't have a problem with the alternating years method. The way it's done now with the ASG is flat out dumb. I don't think it's fair to allow the team with the better record to do it because the two WS teams played only a couple of the same opponents during the year. At least with home-field within the NL, the two teams still played a majority of games against the same teams. And if you use interleague record, I don't think that's fair either because you're allowing teams who don't even make the playoffs to help decide which league gets home field. name me a professional sport where every team plays the exact same schedule haha, pretty much every professional soccer league in Europe. They might play extra games that don't count towards the league championship, but everyone plays the exact same schedule for the league.
  21. Can I move Max Ramirez to my starting catcher mid week with him being called up or do I need to wait till Sunday?
  22. because the american commentators are awful in comparison Because the available Americans either don't know anything about soccer or don't know anything about commentating (or both!) I would be happy never listening to an American do commentary on soccer ever again. agreed. espn using this set of announcers is 1000x better than wc2006. The Olympics on NBC is going to be brutal. I still remember the 2000 games and just how bad the entire coverage was for every event. Sky sports does a real good job, hopefully ESPN will continue to use those guys in the coming years.
  23. That would be absolutely hilarious.

  25. Could Edmonds hit 20 hr's this season?
