  1. I really don't want to listen to owners bitch about players having to run around the bases. Had Wang been hit by a pitch in the hand, fine complain all you want. But seriously, injuries happen, they happen every day, they happen to every team, no one gives a damn about the Yankees and a majority of people are cheering for them to miss the playoffs. You know he would have been laughing his fat $%# off had it been Beckett.
  2. Vance, I'm hoping you didn't mean Beltran for Pie even up. I'm sure they would want Pie plus a few more prospects. If they get more prospects I would want them to eat probably 4 million a year or so.
  3. What a mess this has turned into since last September http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3447973
  4. Ballack kicked the living snot out of the ball today. Germany v. Portugal in a Quarter Final should be entertaining.
  5. What?
  6. I just saw the Villa winner, and it was great. Not great defending by Sweden, but still a great goal.
  7. Being that they will probably rest a lot of people, and Romania will be going all out its possible. They could go through with a draw and a draw between Italy and France. Portugal will rest players. Croatia will rest players. But will the Netherlands? They should, but don't be so sure. They are the Dutch, remember. Style is exceedingly important to them. Wow, have they looked impressive. Always have been my favorite team outside of the USMNT, and would love to see them take the trophy. We'll see though. Someone will ugly the game up and they'll lose in penalties, I'm sure. Thinking more about it, I think they would like to get Robben and van Persie some more minutes. Honestly the Dutch team is loaded with potential super subs like today. I think Kuyt will get the day off. It's too bad Babel is not available as well :-). Potential Final 4: Holland Spain Portugal Germany/Croatia The first 3 are an absolute coin flip right now. The last thing I want to see is a shootout for the Dutch, although they are very due. I love watching the Oranje take over the stadium too.

  9. Wow, Holland have surpassed any expectations I had entering the tournament. vs. Holland and France combined 7-1 and already won the group. I mean these were the two finalists in the last WC.
  10. They always seem to have their moment and breakdown at some point in the knockout stage. Crap! Counter my crap, with another goal 3-1 :-)

  13. Holland again 2-0, almost immediately after Robben and van Persie come on with the goal coming from Robben to Van Persie. Thats really almost unfair they come on as subs :-)
  14. It still so much better than it being the Yankees though.
  15. Dirk puts the Dutch on top in the 10th minute.
  16. A couple of hours away from kickoff. I will be perfectly happy with a draw, but after the last performance and France's fairly weak offense I want to see Holland go for the jugular.
  17. No kidding. Agreed I thought Kasper's HR call on Edmonds was great too
  18. That was my thought too
  19. now thats a good move
  20. yes, please. Its interesting. Can Hoff play LF?
  21. At least 6 weeks they just said. Pujols strikes back.
  22. This is the full statement, you are referring to. He's not laughing at a trade to the Cubs, he's laughing off the swirling rumors of a potential trade. It's clear he hasn't been asked to waive his NTC. Because I would find it hard to believe that Gil Meche, a guy a one time All-Star with a career 4.50era/1.41Whip would turn down a trade to division leader. But I doubt that's true, considering he once considered signing with the Cubs. With that said, I'm not really in favor a pitcher (Meche), who according to baseballreference closly resembles both Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis in terms of career numbers. I thought the Cubs should get an upgrade, not another "like" pitcher. So, I hope the Cubs go for bigger fishes then Meche. On the bright side its nice to see someone actually loves playing for the Royals in KC :?:
  23. Correct. He's probably going to be headed for the 2009 MLB draft. If I understand this right, he has to wait for the draft since he is in the U.S. But, had he went to another country(Dominican Republic) he could sign right away. If this is the case, what the hell is his agent thinking? You're right and I'm guessing it's a case of getting the hell out of Cuba however you can and then hoping for the best afterwards. Yes, I get that. But, couldn't he have fleed to the DR and still been out of Cuba? Plus make a ton of money from whatever team wins a bidding war? I think the key point is fleeing Cuba isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world, and you take your opportunities when they come. I'm sure he'd have preferred going the free agent route, but sometimes you take what you can get. At least the Rays won't be drafting #1 again next year.
  24. he's a maddening player. he's so, so good, but my god, he could never stay healthy for more than a month when he was with chelsea. but when he's on, he adds such versaility and speed on the left side, he's an amazing weapon. The 06 WC gave us a good taste. His pace along with his size is great, but yeah he needs to be healthy. I don't want to see another Mark Overmars for Holland.
