  1. Kind of looks like last weeks game for OU.
  2. Every time they say Threet, I think of Jim Carry in the Cable Guy trying to say street.
  3. Tech plays exciting games every week if your not a big fan of defense :-). They are fun to watch, but have been exposed now for 6 straight quarters. Right now I think they will finish 4th in the Big XII south. A&M is a really bad team this year, maybe the worst in the South. A&M's D-line is pathetic
  4. Karros would be good. I don't see Sut leaving espn, they seemed to treat him great during his battle this year and I think he is very happy with them. I really would not mind Grace, I still like him.

  6. Losing the offensive production while taking on a hefty salary and not being able to really replace his numbers would be very difficult. It would require other moves like trading Lee and signing Tex.
  7. Getting Harden for one year defeats the entire purpose for San Diego trading Peavy.
  8. Agreed. If they tried to be creative, it could work. You can still have all of the bowls as normal. Rotate the 4 majors as serving as sort of a national semi final with a +1 game coming from those two semifinals. Put all of the major bowls back on January 1st where they belong with the National Championship coming on that following Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. However it works to give them 7-10 days off. I don't want a big playoff, I just want 4 teams and that is it. you and me both, my friend. my plan is exactly as you have it, make the two semifinals bcs #1 vs bcs #4 and bcs #2 vs bcs #3, then 7 to 10 days later you have the championship game. at worst you extend the season by an extra week for 2 of 119 teams. not a big deal. and i don't see how money/interest would be lost in this scenario... you'll have a ton of interest in the two national semifinal games, and winning the rose/orange/fiesta/sugar bowl is still a prestigious accomplishment even if it's a non-"playoff" game. it's not like they'd be any more "meaningless" than they are now. My guess is that the only problem is that the collective interest in the 4 BCS games is that they all want to be considered the National Championship game once every 4 years. But they could still have the +1 game at those 4 stadiums just after the bowl game. I think 8 teams now is too much and is also overkill. For the most part teams #6, 7, and 8 really don't belong. In a lot of cases teams numbered #5 and a lot of times #4 don't either. If you put 8 teams in it you will start rewarding teams with 2 losses, and begin to diminish the importance of the regular season. Plus a lot more teams will have an argument of being in the top 8, were very few teams have an argument for being in the top 4.
  9. if penn st. goes undefeated but alabama and a big xii school also go undefeated, i wouldn't be pissed about penn st. not making the championship game. they play in stronger conferences. it's similar to if we hadn't given up the td with time expired against michigan in 2005; texas and usc were undefeated and were better teams than us. the system sucks, but given the system that's in place, you want the best undefeated teams from the best conferences to play for the championship. however, if penn st wins out and florida goes to the championship game ahead of them, i'll be irate. it's not like florida will have a loss like ou's loss at texas on their resume, where you can say "well they just played a team that's tougher than any team psu played." they lost to friggin ole miss at home; penn st has plenty of games that are tougher than that and if they go undefeated, that'll mean they didn't crap themselves against an average team. If Florida wins out, they would of beat LSU (already), at Georgia, at Vandy, and who ever they play in the SEC championship game. I am wondering if Vandy is going to go the route East Carolina went after jumping into the top 15 :-). That really seems like forever ago.

  11. This is extremely true and I really doubt any of the three make it through without at least one more loss each. The original question, though, was IF all three did win out, who should go to the title game. Oh I do too. Every year though I do hope for BCS disaster, though that could backfire on me this year. I do however think its very possible that one of either Bama or Florida will finish with only 1 loss. Just like I think its very possible that out of Texas, OU, Mizzou, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State one of those teams could finish with only 1 loss. OU could finish with 1 loss and not make the Big 12 title game.
  12. Texas and Florida should go, in my opinion. Texas should be a no-doubter, but I think Florida ought to be a pretty sure thing too. The Ole Miss loss looks bad, but wouldn't be much, if any worse than USC's loss to Oregon State. Florida also will have better wins than either USC or Penn State. There's a very good chance that Penn State would get the nod, though. The Big Ten isn't especially good this year, but it's still no easy task to make it through unbeaten. Florida might be a little more deserving because of their superior wins, but I wouldn't pitch a fit about either making it (I definitely wouldn't complain about Florida getting passed over though :D ). How would we compare wins Big 12 wins over Mizzou, OU, Tech, OSU to SEC wins over Bama, LSU, and Georgia. Honestly I think Florida's schedule is weaker than Texas, but I might be biased. All seven team will have been in the top 10 at some point in the season. I think there is a strong case that those two conference champions should play against each other for the national title, but possible neither conference will even have a representative in the title game should Penn State go undefeated and USC have only 1 loss.
  13. penn state, i would hope. i'm pretty sure that penn state will have a handful of wins tougher than a home game against ole miss. in other news, byu is getting absolutely crushed. they're not playing well, but tcu is very good. the mountain west is probably better than the big east this year. Beating Illinois and Wisconsin is not a big deal. maybe, but losing at home to ole miss IS a big deal. Very true, but winning the SEC would be a big deal. I hate how timing of losses has a huge impact. Lets say Penn St. is the only undefeated team, with a 1 loss Texas, a 1 loss Florida, and a 1 loss USC. USC will have gone the longest without a loss but with easily the worst of the bunch to Oregon State. Florida would be in the middle with a loss to Ole Miss but wins the SEC Championship. and lets pretend Texas losses to Mizzou, but wins out and wins the Big 12 Championship over Mizzou. Who would go to the Title game, and who should go to the Title game? Texas would have easily the best of all of the losses with the chance to redeem their loss to the team that beat them. USC has the advantage of losing so early on, despite losing to a much more inferior team in a much weaker conference than the Big 12 and SEC. Florida is just kind of in the middle, and probably has just as much of a case as Texas to go.
  14. BYUdon't get to go to a BCS game.
  15. I am not at all sold that he will actually play.
  16. Roy Williams has always wanted to come back to Texas. With that accomplished and being on a winning team with a new contract, I think he'll be fine. You make it sound like Roy Williams has some kind of awful past. He will be fine, plus his impact on the field will make TO's life easier. I think Jerry was a little worried about the Eagles landing him as well. And it looks like the contract extension has been finalized for Roy as well. May have overpaid but getting one of my favorite UT players ever on the Cowboys is pretty cool.
  17. Looks like the Pads are for real about moving him. Personally, I dont think we have a chance. Their are other teams with more to offer that will want him just as bad and need him a lot more. The Yankees and Mets both come to mind. The Brewers would be a great trade partner for them. They have offense to spare. The question is, would he waive his NTC to go there? Also, they probably wouldnt want Fielder with Adrian Gonzalez holding down 1B. Would they be willing to move Gamel? If The Brewers were willing to take on a substantial chunk of Peavys contract, Gamel and Parra would probably do the trick, then teh Brewers could focus on getting a decent 3 or 4 starter, and remain a legit contender. Jon Garland could be a realistic target for them. I can already see the Yankees trying to use Cano as the centerpiece for a Peavy trade.
  18. The offensive line is doing very little today.
  19. I am not real excited about this game this week. Being that I didn't watch much of the Mizzou game I hope OSU showed how to expose them a little bit. How is Maclan's leg?
  20. Texas just barely edged out Bama. I almost prefer to be #2, but with the rest of Texas schedule I really don't care where they are ranked at all. Just win vs Mizzou first. Also Texas had 13 more 1st place votes than Alabama and leads by 17 points, so 4 people have Bama ranked as #3 in the nation. Though Penn State's win last night might have had a thing to do with that. Still I thought Texas and Bama were a pretty much unanimous #1 and #2.

  23. With the talks of Samardzija moving to the rotation or at least testing it out I think you have to resign Wood. We can't replace 2/3 of our 7th, 8th, and 9th inning bullpen. Not to mention getting a little more rest for Marmol throughout next season.
  24. This is a little bit more of a shakeup and would probably never happen and I am not even sure how much I love it either. Sign CC first Trade Zambrano to the Rangers for Josh Hamilton
  25. The entire Tower is going to be lit tonight Meph. Should be a fun time on 6th street.
