  1. I don't completely disagree with it with the amount of injuries. However its a good week to get Bollinger some snaps with Romo hopefully getting all of them next week.
  2. I think I would actually donate money to see Saben go to the Vols.
  3. 5 years ago they were easily in the Top 10, at the rate they are going they won't be top 20 for very long.
  4. Feel free to get Mike Leech out of the Big 12 :-). I'd love Leach. The only problem I have with him is the terrible defenses he's had at Tech. Not completely sure why they've been so bad (could be a mixture of a lot of things including offensive style, recruiting focus, etc), but I'm not 100% sure that bad a defense would work in the SEC. I would say its more on the recruiting side, though it could be on his assistant coaches too. Then again any kind of recruiting to the city of Lubbock can't be very easy. If he doesn't go to Tennessee he is in store for a big pay raise this year.
  5. Names you will hear: Davis and Leach. Lane Kiffin Will Muschamp Tim Brewster Chris Petersen and, yes, Jon Gruden. (Gruden was a GA at Tennessee under Majors, and his wife is from nearby Sevierville. There is a rumor out there that Gruden was asked if he'd listen to Tennessee about the job, and that his reply was that he would listen. Didn't claim interest, just said that he'd listen.) Mostly all names I've heard. Hadn't heard Brewster's name in connection with UT, but otherwise no surprises there. As for the names, I'm extremely interested in Davis and Leach. Lane Kiffin, I think, wants to go to the west coast. Not a big fan of Brewster or Muschamp. And I really like Petersen - if he can recruit to a major SEC school. As for Gruden, I just don't buy it. He's not in trouble in Tampa and currently gets paid more for doing less (don't have to recruit in the pros). Even though he may have UT ties isn't enough to make me buy that he'll drop an NFL gig for us. Davis seems pretty happy at NC, and they seem to be making an investment into the program as well. I wonder if he would leave that for Ten.

  7. Fulmer is gone after this year, thought you would like this. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3679810
  8. I wouldn't be holding my breath for an LSU win. I won't be.
  9. I am suprised Texas is #4 in the BCS despite getting screwed in the Harris and USA. A win by LSU this week would start to make things better again. I seeing on tv that the team to open the first BCS poll at #1 every season has made it to the title game. Some magic needs to happen to keep that streak alive.
  10. I'm not as excited about Burnett as everyone else seems to be, especially for the crazy money teams are lined up to pay him. Assuming Dempster's year wasn't a total fluke, Dempster will be $3-$4 million cheaper per year for 1-2 less years. You really think Burnett is going to go for insane money? I certainly see Sheets and Sabathia going for insane dollar amounts, but i'm not sure how I feel about Burnett. He had his worst year since 03 last year so possibly his price tag will be a little less? Or maybe that's just wishful thinking. Isn't Burnett giving up big money to opt out in the first place? I can't imagine he'd opt out and take less money to sign somewhere else. But, I don't know what his current contract looks like, so maybe he isn't giving up big money by opting out. Burnett has 2 years and 24 million left on his deal. Wouldn't you want to opt out and wait for the C.C. Sabathia sweepstakes to come to a close before negotiating deals? Sabathia's contract is going to effect what Burnett, and all other above average starters, will make in free agency. If Sabathia signs (and he probably will) a monsterous $130 million deal or something, Burnett could probably weasel into the $15-$16 mil a year range for another 3-4 years instead of the $12 he's slated to make the next 2, IMO I think this is going to be a slow offseason for big names to sign.
  11. He can't come back out after halftime and still be starting can he? There's bad and then there's brad. lol, here he comes I was fixing to say Quincy Carter :-), or Drew Henson, Babe Laufenberg. I really wish the Cowboys had gotten Chris Simms in the offseason as the backup. maybe they can get major applewhite to drive up to dallas on sundays. He would be an improvement.

  13. Whats the spread? I am thinking you win by 30 this year, this is the worst A&M team in a while.

  15. It's weird - they just lost to the current #3 team and recently beat the #4 team. Where can you rank them that doesn't have some quirk? Can't be in the top 3 and you're not going to drop OU a spot to #5, so you had to know Texas would be below OU in the standings this week. 3 spots might be too many, but I don't see how you can rank them higher than 6th right now. ETA - if you're the AP, I guess you just drop OU 2 spots. Wow. i don't know what i'd do with the rest of the teams up in that area - alabama, penn st, florida, usc, etc. - but i do know that i would have the big xii teams ranked texas tech, texas, oklahoma. that's the only thing that makes sense right now. tech beat texas and texas beat oklahoma, all within the last month. if tech loses to okie st or oklahoma, then it's a free for all, but right now i don't understand how you can put OU above texas. Agreed. I don't care that Oklahoma blew out Nebraska this week. That doesn't guarantee that they can't drop a spot in the polls. The AP poll looks fine to me with Texas ahead of Oklahoma and the top-3 all being undefeated teams. I'm thinking there's no way you could rank OU 3-8 without angering someone's fanbase. I don't think OU is deserving of a #1 vote, but blowing out an also-ran shouldn't cause a team to drop in the polls. However, Texas did beat OU, and for now, deserves to be ahead of OU on that merit. I'm guessing OU was the toughest team to rank this week. Texas fans have pretty good reason to cry this week though. They're definitely better than USC. based on what? Merit. Texas has wins against #4, #8, and #13. Their loss is to #3. USC has a win against 12. Their loss is to an unranked team. At the very worst Texas should be ranked ahead of OU in both polls.
  16. 1. Alabama (46) 9-0 1,600 2. Texas Tech (12) 9-0 1,528 3. Penn State (6) 9-0 1,525 4. Florida (1) 7-1 1,398 5. Texas 8-1 1,353 6. Oklahoma 8-1 1,324 7. USC 7-1 1,250 8. Oklahoma State 8-1 1,198 9. Boise State 8-0 1,030 10. Utah 9-0 1,028 11. TCU 9-1 958 12. Ohio State 7-2 898 13. Missouri 7-2 830 14. Georgia 7-2 808 15. LSU 6-2 746 16. Ball State 8-0 594 17. Brigham Young 8-1 536 18. Michigan State 8-2 456 19. North Carolina 6-2 418 20. West Virginia 6-2 303 21. California 6-2 288 22. Georgia Tech 7-2 286 23. Maryland 6-2 242 24. Florida State 6-2 128 25. Pittsburgh 6-2 96
  17. If there is a 3 way tie where they all have a 1-1 record vs. each other I believe they will end up going to the BCS rankings because all of the other tie breakers will not decide it. edit: There are some other factors but I don't think any of them would come into play.
  18. fixed
  19. Could still see USC and Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, which would be stupid too.
  20. What sucks for Texas is if they still make the Big XII championship game, are ranked #3 (behind #1 Alabama and #2 Penn State) they will face #10-15 Missouri and will win. No one will be all that impressed with the win. They already knew they would beat Missouri (who has been exposed quite a bit of late and may even stumble before then). If Florida's sitting there at #4 and kicks Alabama's ass like they're supposed to, they take out the #1 team in impressive fashion and will in all probability jump Texas. I agree completly, I think Texas needs to have a decent little cushion over Florida going into the Championship Weekend to have a shot. Pretty much all of the tie-breaker scenarios favor Texas should Tech lose one game, so I think they still have a good shot to get in. Unless we have only two undefeated teams at the end of the regular season the BCS is primed to take another very large hit this year, Texas might just be one of the sacrificial lambs.
  21. Here is what I have: 1. Alabama 2. Penn State 3. Texas Tech 4. Florida (not sure if they will really jump that high or not, could be very huge for Texas if they don't get passed) 5. Texas 6. Oklahoma 7. USC 8. Oklahoma State
  22. Hopefully Major Applewhite had a nice conversation with McCoy a second ago.
  23. I was just trying to think of how many years its going to take to rebuild this program. 3,4,5?
  24. I think its important to remember that all teams know how the system works prior to the season beginning. All teams know that if they lose 1 game regardless of the score it will diminish their odds of playing for the NC. While the current system sucks, it is what it is and everyone knows that you must actually win every game to control your own destiny. If you don't you become a victim of the system.
