  1. Gonzalez, 33, announced his retirement last May after starting out 4-for-36 with the Phillies. It's not much of a surprise to see him back, and he joined the one team he could potentially start for, though the Royals are certain to give Angel Berroa one more chance to keep his job.
  2. Colangelo and the whole D-backs front office are changing their way of drafting players. They are going to take more high school players than they have ever did. They are also going with the kids who show more potential than ability. It would be interesting to see if he would take this strategy to the Cubs if he bought the organization.
  3. Bears need a safety. Mike Brown might be done with the Bears.
  4. I laughed out loud when I seen that. Clark is not that bad of an option, but the Cubs are so right handed that I would perfer them to sign a left handed batter instead. False dilemma. Signing Clark doesn't preclude adding another lefthanded bat. And Jacque should have a platoon partner. I'd rather it be Clark in CF than Murton in LF. Ward, Izturis, Jones, and Pagan are the only left handed batters on the team. I would perfer the Cubs to sign two more left handed batters. Floyd would be a good option, and someone who can play the infield.

  6. He is still developing. His defense is already a very good asset. He has a very strong and accurate arm, and he shows great range. He could be a 15-20HR guy with the Brewers when healthy. He hardly strikes outs, and he is learning to take the walk more. He probably projects as a future number 2 hitter with his contact ability.
  7. Any chance they trade J.J. Hardy to the Cubs?
  8. This is very annoying. Grow up please. And make sure you get your facts right. I said he out pitched him in that world series game.
  9. Justin Verlander, Jake Peavy, and Jered Weaver are going to have some arm problems as well. i'll raise you one and say that almost all pitchers are going to have some arm problems. That is true. Every pitcher has a slight tear in his rotator cuff.
  10. Justin Verlander, Jake Peavy, and Jered Weaver are going to have some arm problems as well. Thansk, Dr. Nick http://www.rob-clarkson.com/duff-brewery/nickriviera/01.gif I really don't see a need for you to post that. I guess you are trying to be funny or something.

  13. Who was the pitching coach for the Cubs in 1998? No way in hell would I allow a pitcher to take the mound with those mechanics. Oscar Acosta, with whom Kerry was very close by all accounts. Acosta wasn't afraid to get in Kerry's face and give him straight info. I have no doubt Acosta let Wood know about the risks in throwing his big hook. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're not one of the many pitching mechanics "experts" that came out of the woodwork since 2003. Would YOU have ordered Kerry to stop throwing his slurve after he struck out 20 in his 5th major league start? Good luck with that one. At the time no one could say with certainty what damage (if any) he was doing with his motion. In 1999 Kerry freely admitted his slurve was a big factor in his injury. My point is, you never can tell. Put ten pitching coaches together in the same room and you'll get ten different opinions on good pitching mechanics - it's notoriusly subjective. Did Bob Gibson have great mechanics? How bout Warren Spahn - would you have let him take the mound? Just by watching that YouTube video of Kerry Wood striking out 20 batters you could see all of his flaws in his motion. Throwing across his body, really poor weight transfer, rushing throughout his delivery, not keeping his head lined up with his belly button, lifting his elbow above his shoulder are a few flaws I seen just by watching that video. When he rushes his movement towards home plate, his arm is trying to keep up with his body. That puts alot of stress on the shoulder and elbow region.

  15. I like this move for Arizona. Johnson still can dominate a baseball game even at the age of 43.
  16. Cubs already have a simliar player in Ryan Theriot.
  17. I love fantasy baseball! Im going to keep my strategy of drafting heavy on pitching. Works out well for me.
  18. Emil Brown would be a pretty good option.
  19. Baltimore.
  20. They need to put those trick plays in Madden. Holy crap that was one hell of a game.
  21. Why? Boone adds veteran experience to a young Marlins club. He also could be that power threat from the right side off the bench for the Marlins.
  22. A decent veteran signing for the Marlins.
  23. The Indians are quitely building a good baseball team.
