  1. Over/Under to first Bartman or 2003 NLCS mention. 7:05 p.m. Also, who mentions it first?
  2. You don't mind having another Soriano situation? (please I am not comparing the player, just the situation). Where maybe you get 5 years of great production, then the last 3-4 years you are hampered with an aging player, and not able to add any peices. Forced to wait to rebuild until his contract is finally up?
  3. I remember reading just a few posts during one of Z's other starts and someone posted something simular. Maybe he is just posting the same thing hoping Z will give the same results as last time someone said that? Of course now that I've explained this to you I have broken the magic of the superstition. You're not supposed to explain it, isn't that how it works?
  4. And if everyone in America goes a day wihout buying gas, they'll have to drop the prices, right? I doubt it.
  5. I worked midnight so I just caught the end of it. Turned it on in the 8th just in time to hear them talk about the NLCS, AGAIN. I was like "[expletive], REALLY"? Turned it off. Came back in the 9th to catch Pena's homer and the rest. Well that was cool. But anytime they talk about that [expletive] everyone should immediately flip the channel. That way they can see a mass dip in #'s. Maybe eventually they'll [expletive] get it.
  6. I'm starting to get nausea on these bunny hills, and i usually like rollercoasters.
  7. Attendance is going to continue to be bad as the wealthy grab a higher and higher percentage of the nation's wealth. You can only give so much free money (subsidies, and yes this includes the 100 or so million Rickett's wants to take from taxpayers to pay for HIS ballpark) to the super rich and squeeze the middle class so much, until you have hardly anyone left to sell your product to.
  8. Anyone else's TV schedule not even show the Cubs on WGN? Maybe it's just comcast but for WGN and WGN-HD they have Maury on at 1pm and 2pm, I forgot what was after that but who care, it doesn't even show the Cubs.
  9. A Cubs manager that is young player friendly and realizes potential and considers "building for the future" as being important? When was the last time we had this? Quade you've got my support.
  10. What if Koyie Hill doesn't get a hit the rest of the spring, has 55 past balls, 0 out of 45 caught stolen with 28 of them wild throws to allow an extra base. Calls Quade Fredie Kreuger and poops in his dugout spot every day. And. . . . um. Gives Quade Herpes. Will he still get the job?
  11. I just want Zambrano to pitch the way he did the last couple months of last season. If he still gets pissed, don't care. All I care about is how he pitches. If he pitches like he did at the end of last season and can relatively keep it together all year, our rotation becomes very very good.
  12. Dusty never changes. Do you ever notice every damn thing he ever says it's always about him.
  13. My Uncle thinks the Cubs are going to get Pujols. Ofcourse he thinks every single prospect from the Cubs is going to be great, and when they aren't and you mention it he acts like he always thought the guy sucked. Ofcourse he is kinda slow, he slurs his words and he's kinda mentally [expletive]. But not in a way that makes you feel sorry for him, more the way that makes him an annoying loudmouth. He called me stupid when I told him the Cubs aren't going to get Pujols and not to get his hopes up. I can't wait until Pujols sign somewhere else so I can call him a stupid moron. Oh I'm not gonna let this go, I can't wait to remind him how stupid he is every time I see him. Am I bitter? Yeah but he blantantly insulted me and he's got it coming.
  14. If it's Otto, I will never listen to a WGN broadcast ever again. On those days he filled in for Santo /went on the road with Pat, were PAINFUL I tell you. He is just incredibly boring and annoying, and I don't even know why. He just is.
  15. I immediately knew you were being sarcastic before I even came in the thread. I'm smert.
  16. I heard on the score today that part of Wood's commitment to the Cubs was as a broadcaster after he had finished playing.
  17. Look, I'm no longer a Hendry appologizer. But let's not just assume some team was willing to give a high ceiling top prospect for tyler Colvin, and knock Hendry just because Colvin is still a Cub. I'm sure Hendry would part with Colvin for the right peice, but I highly doubt anyone was blowing Hendry away with an offer for him.
  18. My first reaction was simular to Tim's post. Just wanted to post here and add my thoughts since I hadn't yet. When my Mom first told me it was shock. I mean Santo really didn't look very old, not old enough to die anyway. When I heard what it was I didn't even know he had Bladder Cancer. My first thought would have been Diabetes complications. Anyway, when you listen to someone almost every single day they almost become like a friend. Ron Santo was my best Cubs friend, I loved to listen to him talk as he watched the game with me. The first thing I'd do if there were some home runs or amazing highlights would be to look up Ron's reaction if I didn't listen to WGN radio for the game that day. I can't believe I'll never beable to hear Ron's emotional reactions to runs or great plays ever again. I mean I knew he had medical problems but I thought he atleast had another several years before they put him near the end. This was sudden, and I wasn't ready to let Ron go. And I am so sad I never got around to meeting Ron in person. God Dammit. I love you Ronnie, and I'm going to miss you, so much. :bye:
  19. Boy I'm really starting to get excited about the new direction the Ricketts are taking this team!!
  20. Smardzija is just one of the many pitchers with good heat that never amounted to anything. There's been hundreds of guys like that. I doubt he would have turned out any better with different handling.
  21. The best part about that was reading the comments section. I learned that Marlon Byrd is by far our best player solely because of the effort he gives, I learned that Andres Blanco should be our starting 2nd baseman, and that Adam Dunn will cost the Cubs more runs at 1st BASE! than he will drive in with his bat. Fascinating stuff there. Stuff like that and the Cubs Facebook page really give you a sobering insight into the bulk of fanbase. Not just Cubs fans, but fans in general. What's that saying, something like the dumbest people tend to be the most vocal? I wouldn't judge based on all the stupid comments. I just think the smart ones tend to not waste their time posting on facebook.
  22. It would look a lot better with Fukudome in there instead of Colvin. For the first couple of months of the season atleast. FAIL I was being sarcastic, lol.
