  1. I know some people have changed their names, and some new folks, all using some part of theo or epstein in their name. I'm not gonna change my name. I think it's still very fitting, even more so now. Theo will bring upon us a new era in cubs baseball. One in which the Cubs are run by smart people who instead of patching with mediocre overpaid free agents year after year. We will instead build the farm and only suppliment that with the right moves at the right time. A new, and exciting Era is upon us friends. :good:
  2. Or, we could just make up nicknames for you. You'll be teenie.
  3. How long do you think we'll be non-competitive? Garza's only turning 28 next year and Marshall is around 30. Unless the next time we have a "core" together is 4-5 years from now, both of those players can easily be a part of the next core. And Garza will have far more than decent trade value. He was one of the better pitchers in the majors this year, I'd only trade him if I got a huge amount in return. What I'm basically saying, in response to the topic, who out of the current roster is off limits. My response is no one but Castro. What I'm trying to say about those young guys is they are actually worth some pretty good trade value. But I would ONLY trade them if I get a minor leaguer who is a couple years away but is a CLEAR improvement over the player you are trading. So I'd rather keep them, but if it netted us a top prospect then ofcourse I would give them up. Because I'd rather build for the next few years than keep a guy that MIGHT not be as valuable a few years from now.
  4. Glad to hear Brett Jackson isn't a likely candidate. I'm really looking foward to watching him play next year. Just for the fact that it's yet another position player to come out of the Cubs system after so many years of no hitters with any potential at all. Will be fun to watch the young kids as the Cubs continue to improve their farm.
  5. Posting question marks like that is classic muskat too. Muskat.
  6. I'm sorry you cannot have Jackson. He is our current #1 prospect, in terms of ready to contribute at a major league level. He's the top of a system that has a severe lack of major league ready prospects. We need him in addition to Castro as the young building blocks as we begin to fix this mess. I hope Ricketts feels the same way too. And as have been stated, we have other great GM options out there. We have the most important peice already. A smart owner who is willing to spend the money smartly to get this team as a consistant winner. And all signs show that he's not gonna let the Red Sox rob our farm of our major league ready center fielder.
  7. That's alot of salt. Or as Winston would say. http://i42.tinypic.com/wam0d3.jpg That's a big twinkie.
  8. What's going on, CC morphed from http://snltranscripts.jt.org/03/pics/03rdowner3.jpg into http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4037/4587090097_d0208f4d09_o.gif
  9. How old is Fielder btw and how many years do you think market value is gonna be for him? I'm scared of his weight. But if he's still relatively young I wouldn't be totally against it. What I am against however is giving him any more than 6 years max. 7-8 years is a very bad Idea, and since we are building for the future now. Let's not plan to have a huge albatross contract hampering us 5-6 years down the road.
  10. I agree with CC. So shoot me now. What's with all the lyrics. It's pointless. I want more druken enthusiasm. Or are all you guys too partied out? \:D/
  11. Quick, snatch him up b4 we are stuck with Theo! And bring Mike Murphy back, I really miss the "Andy, honk honk, MacPhail" clown nose thing. EDIT: Oh my God, the "fail" filter is still working.
  12. The Cubs need less OCD and moar OBP. Hendry's gone, so the OCD goes with him.
  13. Let Epstein handle this mess. But considering we are now, FINALLY, building for the future, with the long term in mind. Castro is about the only one that should be part of the next "core". Players like Soto, Byrd, Marshall, Garza, etc. . who probably have some decent trade value should go IF you get a pretty good young talent in return. Otherwise let them stay on the roster to field a "competitive" team. Players like Jackson and Cashner should not be traded considering they are of the age that will fit into this next "core" group. Ofcourse again if there is a net gain you trade. Let Epstein figure out the rest of this mess, IE: the players that are overpaid and you ain't getting nothin for.
  14. That's how I view it. Jackson would be worst case in my book. We know Boston isn't getting Castro or Garza, that was just ridiculous speculation by dim witted reporters. But Jackson is a deffinate possibility. I trust Ricketts probably doesn't want to give him up either, and Jackson is probably a prime target for Boston. Ofcourse I value Epstein over Jackson, I just don't want to see him go. Guys like Castro, Cashner, Garza, Jackson. Those are the guys I want to see as the new core of players as the Cubs begin to rebuild over the next few years.
  15. Now we know EpsteinCubs isn't actually Theo. Because Jackson is a Theo type of prospect. I'd imagine secretly he is hoping the Cubs don't lose Jackson because he probably sees him filling in for the Cubs in the near future, giving them great production at such a low cost which will allow them to spend all the savings on drafting and smart moves for the major league roster.
  16. Profit maximization is so darn un-American. It kind of is. See Profit maximization means firing of American workers and taking advantage of slave labor in China. So in your sarcastic remark you are kind of correct.
  17. instead of being mad at Hendry (over the disqualified list). Be mad at Zambrano. Obviously Zambrano must have showed up in the clubhouse, or Hendry's office or something. What the hell Zambrano? I thought you were retiring. Please leave and save us millions of dollars over the next couple seasons. We can get a pitcher to put up your #'s for $2.5 million next year and put the rest toward a good player.
  18. I never pee at wrigley cause I have a shy bladder, heck I really don't go to wrigley anymore anyway. I'd rather hear news stores about them getting rid of bad players and bringing in good players. I care 0% about what the pee room looks like.
  19. This isn't going to change my view on hollandsworth one bit. I like him and he is a deep down cubs fan. He's angry just like anyone else, because he wants the team to be better. You can lash out at the wrong people some times when you are angry. He should be lashing out at Hendry but I guess it's easier to lash out at a player instead of the guy at the top.
  20. He deserves to be on a team that doesn't suck. Now now I'm not saying trade him to do him a favor. I'd actually like it if you know, the Cubs could actually build a god damn good team worthy of having Castro on it, and not wasting away on patching mediocre after mediocre crap with more mediocre and crappy crap.
  21. Please fire DeJesus. And change his name to DeSatan.
  22. Losing is #1. But alot probably got tired of some of the attitude around here. People seem to want to start a fight over nothing. And I mean nothing. They pick at stupid inconsequential things and want to start an arguement. I've had that happen to me. But I've stayed because. I don't have any other outletts for my Cubs anger.
  23. darnit. I was gonna email len & bob and ask them if they could consider doing the beard thing for 10 losses in a row. Dream adverted.
  24. We won't have to ask for any favors if he keeps his pace. That will be about all his market value will be as a free agent.
  25. We rule! On opposite day. Right spongebob? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I0zE3t-uPTA/TGLBIwnxvQI/AAAAAAAAARI/SlTzGKlCHzU/s1600/spongebob-i-smell-the-smelly-smell-3701201.jpg
