  1. The Scouts were huge at my schools until the Webelos level; I think that's when most kids could bow out and did. Very few stuck with it to go on to Boy Scouts, and those that did were pretty freakish. The Cub Scouts and Tiger Cubs were something seemingly everyone was made to do by their parents. Of course, this was still back in the early-mid 80's; seems like it had fallen off a lot in the 90's.
  2. Except not, because they still have to win the playoff games and Super Bowl.
  3. Yeah, there's a hierarchy thing. Tiger Cubs, Cubs Scouts, Webelos, Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts. The first chance my parents gave me to opt out, before Webelos, I was so very done.
  4. It kindasortamaybedefinitely does?
  5. I don't understand how you possibly think you can use that to somehow "discredit" that they actually won the WS.
  6. This...is a sound theory.
  7. CUB Scouts. I'm not some freak who went through Boy Scouts. I've got enough baggage already without that.

  9. None of us were against the two kids who kept instigating it. They were the types who took it WAY too seriously and were bigger than everyone else so they're just hurling us pipsqueaks around and bodyslamming like a couple of junior psychos. The rest of us shared many a harrowing look that screamed "why isn't anyone stopping this?!?"
  10. You were in the Bot Scouts, that's your own damn fault I was 9, you weirdo. So which parent just sat and stared the whole time? It felt like all of them.

  12. So let them try; the damn thing would still be won.
  13. No kidding; this Bears team is humiliatingly bad, but if they fell into the playoffs ass backwards and went on some kind of miracle run it wouldn't be tainted at all by how terrible they are.
  14. Yeah, that's what I'm actually leaning towards; seems like he has a real shot of sliding in to that manager spot there pretty soon.
  15. You're further along than me...even in resignation I'm hoping for Shields + McCarthy/Liriano Alright, I'm back in.
  16. One of my strangest childhood memories is from my final year in the Cub Scouts where every meeting would end up with everyone in the troop/group/whatever the [expletive] basically being forced to wrestle on the front lawn of the house that hosted the meetings while the parents just stood around and talked. There were only like 8 of us in the group, but 2 of the kids were, like, "LET'S WRESTLE!!!" every [expletive] time and somehow this ended up with us kicking the [expletive] out of each other with our parents watching when all I wanted to do was get home and get out of the stupid [expletive] uniform.
  17. You've now reached 3 anomalies and expanded your timeframe to over 20 years. Yeah, that's a pretty goofy tangent. That said, from our outsiders standpoint it's really looked like the Cubs were banking on him being THE signing. Obviously nothing has been inked yet, but it will be hugely disappointing if he ends up back with the Red Sox.
  18. I'd be very happy with a Mccarthy signing Me too. But they need more. Starting pitching is a key weakness for them.
  19. They just signed a manager for 5/25. Did people forget this or something? Also next year's SP FA crop is better than this years. So sign good pitchers this year AND next year. The Maddon signing is awesome, but the dual fronts thing being a reality at some point would be pretty great, too. Some good big signings, trades...SOMETHING.
  20. you have an interesting idea of fun. I'd rather the Bears win than lose. I want you to have this. While enjoying a huge turkey leg in one hand and a flagon of mead in the other. only if i can have a wrestling match with my brother afterwards In the front yard, in your tighty-whities, and then someone chases you off with a hose, just like that Jackass episode.

  22. And it's not like they have been forced to release good players they wanted to keep or were unable to get outside help. The Bears aren't getting enough positive production from the past 4-5 drafts and their coaching staff is bad. Yup. Cutler's contract has become to new Soriano's contract for frothing at the mouth meatballs.
  23. The email hack is an interesting angle and I dunno how they're doing it but I am pretty sure I hate them. Until they break something positive for the Cubs PTR sez: http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2014/0404/chi_u_tom-ricketts1_mb_600x400.jpg
