  1. Yeah, his contract is ultimately constructed just fine. They can cut their losses if need be soon enough because of it. I think people are just hung up on how much he's making this year in particular.
  2. PTR is banking on luring guys in with his songs about the Big Rock Candy Mountain. PROVE ME WRONG, YOU TED CRUZ-LOOKING SCHMUCK. Prove me wrong...
  3. Oh my God, let's talk about Pearl Jam again. That's somehow less depressing than how this is trending.
  4. I wonder how much of it is on the OL. It seems to have regressed pretty badly, largely due to injuries. It's not just impacted the passing game, but it seems like the run has been spottier, too. I don't know how valid FO's offensive line rankings are but they have the Bears at 10th best run blocking line and 13th best pass blocking line. But I think the only criteria they use for pass blocking is adjusted sack rate which seems really simplified. Last year they were 20th in run blocking and 5th in pass blocking according to their system. I have always felt like Cutler goes into a shell when he gets too much pressure in a game where he gets rid of it quickly regardless of whether there is pressure on that play, or if there is pressure goes into a shell and gets sacked when maybe he could have scrambled. He could have just permanently snapped into that mode because a lot of times it seems like he's checking down too early in a play. Just my observation. You could very well be right. There's so many things that seem wrong with these guys.

  6. Yeah, the amount of times I keep hearing about people thinking it was stupid the Bears didn't franchise him is frustrating. That just wouldn't have worked.
  7. Agreed, especially on the bold parts. He's talented enough where he's still good, but something is off.
  8. Right. The offensive approach has been baffling to me this year because it seems like Trestman is keeping them away from Cutler's strongest abilities far too often and instead sticking to a much more conservative offense, and they've paid the price for it. It seems like they essentially just want to plant him in the pocket and play a midfield game most of the time. Cutler is talented enough that his numbers still look good, but there's been a dearth of the big wow moments that he's capable of and that we've seemingly seen more of in the past. I don't know if Trestman just doesn't trust him or what, but he seems reined him and it has resulted in, like you said, some very disjointed results.
  9. I've had him as my #1 priority all offseason. But I'm fully aware of the risks and odds of getting 6-7 good years from him. Who is banking on getting 6-7 good years out of him? I figured it was assumed by all that the Cubs would be eating cash at the end.
  10. Right, which is why it's frustrating even when the end result is awesome. It's great that Jay has the comeback numbers that he does.
  11. It feels like he's having the safest year of his career, which isn't necessarily the best thing when you're capable of being the awesome gunslinger type and when you're on a team that's apparently as flawed as the Bears are this year. I'm not blaming him for where they so as much as hoping he emerges as the one that can carry them to better things. Granted, maybe I missed something amazing in those Falcons and Vikings wins, but that's still just two games. And the 49er's game is simultaneously what I want to see and not want to see. Carrying the team back and being the dagger? Awesome. Sucking for at least half of the game? Not awesome. That one would probably feel a lot better if this season didn't have him disappearing for too much of the game too often and it not ending up like that one did.
  12. Yes, this. He's not the disaster his haters think he is, but he also hasn't been as awesome as frequently as he has in seasons past. Falling in the middle most of the time isn't enough with this team.
  13. Cutler's awesomely shrugged off shitty coaching in the past to get things done. I miss that Cutler.
  14. He's been very inconsistent or disappointing in too many games this year. He's gotta pick them up and carry them more often if they're gonna have a chance. Look at the 49ers and Panthers games as flipsides of the same coin of being that up and down. Wouldn't you rather see more results like that Vikings game you love like it's your child as opposed to the all or nothing crap we've seen too often from him and the rest of the team where they seemingly only have a half of football in them?
  15. You know he's 1 week removed from a 330 yard passing game that featured a handful of big plays. Holy hell, YES. Cutler's having an odd good season, and we're not seeing nearly as much of great Cutler like we have in the past. It's weird, and when he's off he's looking REALLY off. Not like where's giving it up, but just like he's bad at almost everything else. I don't know if it's the OL giving up so much pressure or whatever the [expletive] is wrong with Marshall or Black Unicorn and his drops, but he's looked like he has today too often.
  16. The offense desperately needs to get it's [expletive] together. The OL has looked wretched, but man, it's depressing watching Cutler. He's not the disaster the meatballs say he is, and he kept the critical turnovers in check today, but he's just been looking...off. I really hope we're not seeing him finally breaking down from the beatings he's taken over the years. We've gotta see Big Play Cutler if they want to have a chance. He threw for 330 yards and 3 TDs last week against a team that just made Aaron Rodgers look human. I really don't know why you're pulling a really hard Derwood-troll lately. He isn't the nightmare the meatballs scream for, but he's been "off" way too often this season. I know you're acting like that Vikings win was one of the greatest in Bears' history, but besides his usual issues he's having more and more games where he just doesn't have much, if anything at all. It's worrisome. I love Cutler, but I want to see awesome Cutler more consistently. The Bears need to to have any kind of a chance.
  17. The Lions' increasingly farty offense seems like the kind of thing to keep the Bears' defense on this mini-roll they're on (AKA thank God we're playing shitty teams). Now if Cutler can just step up. He hasn't been disastrous, but he's got to start pulling some big plays off again. I don't know if it's how bad the OL has looked or what, but Cutler just looks broken.

  19. I don't really believe it happened. It was ridiculous.

  22. What a lame win. The only upside is that McCown looked like absolute [expletive] and it'll shut the meatballs up about that.
  23. Thanks for being Lovie, Lovie.
