  1. Short bench or not, it's completely stupid that Ross pissed away what might be our best chance to score by sending up Ortega against a lefty
  2. Seems like he's been doing that to make fun of Anderson ever since Anderson (I'm assuming in jest) called himself the new Jackie Robinson during a dispute with MLB a couple years ago. Donaldson probably thinks that's very funny.
  3. It's Armed Forces Day this weekend or some crap. MLB finally wised up at some point and realized Memorial Day isn't about troop-humping camo horsefeathers, but they couldn't just quit doing it so they found some other day they could use as an excuse to do it.
  4. Having both kick in at essentially the same time has really been a shock to the system, that's for sure. I know the Iowa AD came out and said they should get rid of the free transfer, but that's not happening and he looked like a clown for saying it.
  5. Saban yakked it up last night about how A&M 'bought' their top-ranked recruiting class and he and Bama 'did it the right way' with regards to NIL. I completely believe him about A&M, but I'm already sick of the 'well, your NIL deals are buying players, but ours are totally cool' narrative from CFB fan bases.
  6. Something is seriously wrong with baseball if a superstar with 2.5 damn years to free agency gets traded.
  7. Who could've predicted that besides literally anyone
  8. It's really rather impressive that he's having basically the exact career LaHair had. Bad luck he didn't time his surge better to get a cheap All-Star spot out of it
  9. Davies has gotten like 5 pitches off the plate called strikes
  10. Some seriously terrible defense being shown off this inning. Some of it even isn't Villar.
  11. The graphics are very clean. The real time stat thing in the corner is sort of cool. The fact that we are totally gonna get shut down by Zach Davies' terrible ass is lame.
  12. Funny, I was watching Eric Hosmer hit line shot after line shot against us this week and wondering how close those discussions came to fruition for the same reason.
  13. They have a decent rapport but I feel like Boog kind of ignores some of the stupid horsefeathers Sutcliffe says with a mental eye-roll. Maybe I'm just projecting what I would be doing in that spot, though. Sutcliffe just is really bad at this, vacillating between making a relatively meaningless point he thinks is profound and vocally rooting for Cubs players mid-at-bat, which rubs me the wrong way.
  14. Some Keystone Kops horsefeathers going on this inning
  15. Keegan Thompson getting the start today. Heyward just failed to make a catch he really needs to make in center field.
  16. I've heard Lakers rumors as well. At the end of of the day, if the Bulls offer him the max the minute FA opens, I'm certain he'll resign. If the Bulls try to mess around and lowball him, he'll go exploring FA even if the Bulls ultimately offer him the max. If you want to be sure to keep Zach, don't mess around.... he has made it clear that he's looking for the respect of a max level contract. I'd agree with this. I don't know if Zach LaVine is a max player, but someone will give him the max. So if the Bulls want him they need to offer him the max or someone else will and he'll leave. If they don't want him - and I'd understand if they didn't - then don't. But don't dance around.
  17. Madrigal went on the injured list with made-up back tightness so we're at least rid of his ass for a week and a half. I don't know where JD is but going from him to Sutcliffe as an analyst is a little like going from a Learjet to the little dirigible from The Great Mouse Detective.
  18. Texas 83-67 Nebraska 81-68 That’s hilarious. The main difference is a wider range of results for Nebraska. They’ve won 10 games twice and 9 games four times in that span but also had a 3 win season and two 4 win seasons (I’m excluding 2020’s 3-5 record). Texas had only 1 10 win season and 1 9 win season but won at least 5 games every year. It’s too bad they don’t have a decent game this year before they play Bama. Would have been funny for them to have a good 1st win to get people talking about them being back only for them to get tricked by Bama. I don't know any Texas fans so I have no idea their current level of delusion, but I find it hard to believe anyone not currently beating or at least competing with Bama is going to talk themselves into having a chance until they see it at this point. Heck, it only took my sometimes-overexcited fan base one Bama beatdown before we started bracing ourselves at the concept.
  19. Drop LF Bryant, add LF Schwarber. It bumps me up $25 but I was $50 under already.
  20. I'm not sure where any of us are supposed to find hope when everyone who's actually important in the near term except maybe Happ has been godawful since Seiya's hot start - including the higher minor leaguers.
  21. How many picks are drawn? At least it gives us a chance at number 1 if the Reds keep up their pace. They haven’t played us yet though so there’s time flip us in the standings The first 6 picks are drawn.
  22. Friday's game is rained out. Split doubleheader Saturday.
  23. Seiya is officially a Cub now after that rally killing AB
