  1. Seiya is officially a Cub now after that rally killing AB
  2. I mean, the Ross thing makes sense. If you have a mild injury and will be back to playing full time in 2-3 days, it doesn't hurt to have teams trying to guess what it is that's injured. If it's a back injury or something, you're probably riding the pine regardless. But a toe injury or something could still see him pinch hitting and getting pulled for a pinch runner. It's not the worst thing in the world to make the other team prepare as if he might be able to play. It makes perfect sense, but it's one of those things that will drive us insane if we're in a sure-thing pinch-hit situation and we end up with some 25th man taking the at-bat instead of Contreras. They used to do that kind of stuff with Bryant and Rizzo all the time.
  3. My God Gomes, you don't HAVE to swing at a 3-2 pitch in that spot
  4. To this point my most hated (on the field) Cub is Aaron Miles, and Nick Madrigal is displaying pretty much every trait he did so far.
  5. Corral definitely intrigues me, but to be honest I kinda liked the Zappe guy from WKU that New England picked with the pick we traded up from better. With the caveat that I of course know nothing
  6. The Sixers blew it up a decade ago after making round two and might, I repeat might, finally get past that round this spring. Blowing it up is far more likely not to work than it is to work. Better to remain competitive as long as you can maintain the flexibility to add a superstar once the opportunity presents itself.
  7. Starting to think Madrigal might just take his "Nicky 2 Strikes" nickname a little too seriously
  8. That was a serious bomb by Wisdom. Hopefully the not Robertson pen can hold a 3 run lead.
  9. And now because of that mismanaged 8th we get our first game of the year with the stupid ass fake runners.
  10. I can't horsefeathering stand making no effort to throw a competitive pitch to the #8 hitter just because there's a base open. Now you have to get Ozzie damn Albies or you probably lose the game.
  11. Apparently Lance Barrett viewed Angel Hernandez' strike zone on Sunday as aspirational.
  12. Wow, that was a hell of a catch by Demeritte
  13. Thank goodness Nick Madrigal grounded out weakly to third instead of striking out there
  14. I'm not sure there's ever been a sports season that you would have to call a success that nevertheless featured more terrible luck with player availability.
  15. Immediately followed by the broadcast team only half jokingly saying they were surprised no one had gone at Angel earlier.
  16. How many horsefeathering fastballs down Main St. did this dude need to throw before someone realized that's all he was doing? Atrocious game
  17. Javy would've been in the dugout by the time the ball reached home plate
  18. Well, that one didn't work out for the acquiring team either, to be fair
  19. For a guy who "doesn't strikeout", he sure does seem to have 2 strikes on him every time upOh look, another strikeout and he didn't even have the decency to have it be on a pitch in the zone this time
  20. New rule - I don't want to hear from broadcasters that Nick Madrigal is a good guy to have up in a certain situation until his OPS is above .650. Another horseshit AB from him
  21. Jonathan Villar is also absurd but for completely different reasons
  22. Keegan Thompson is just absurd
  23. but they wouldn't be enjoying a wrigley day game because it's raining. Presumably they'd have time to make plans for the makeup game or sell their tickets if they can't make it. If its a doubleheader tomorrow or Sunday, at least they have more than a few hours to change their plans. Maybe they bought tickets to this game last week because they wanted to go to a Cubs game in the afternoon and a Bulls playoff game at night. Now they have to scramble to sell the tickets for a crappy team playing a crappy opponent in crappy weather. I suppose that's just the risk you take when buying tickets and while it sucks they just have to deal with it. But before this year (and 2020 with no fans at the games) I've never heard of moving around the game time on the day of game so I would've been completely caught off guard if I had tickets today. I'm not stunned about these drastic game-time moves if only because with the schedule already being a bit compressed I'm sure teams are taking pains to avoid having to squeeze in more doubleheaders whenever possible. In a non-lockout world I think they probably would've just sucked it up and had a rain delay. Although now that I'm thinking about it I wonder if the players brought this up in negotiations, that they would prefer teams move times around when they are pretty sure about the timing of crappy weather.
