    Yeah I didn’t understand why he faced McMahon. Guess Ross showing a little trust in him plus it’s only the 5th inning. But definitely didn’t look comfortable out there I believe McMahon was his 3rd batter, he had to face him.

    And taken out of the game. He'd thrown 80 pitches. Baseball can be really horsefeathering stupid sometimes.

    Do we think they'll waive the 5-year waiting period and induct Seiya into the Hall of Fame right after he retires or make him wait like all the schmucks?

    It's the Pittsburgh home opener, though why it's at 4 instead of at 1 or 2 is beyond me.

    Their opening weekend was well attended, and then it turned into an abandoned building yesterday I don't know for sure what the weather is in Detroit, but on the west side of the state it's been in one of those stupid gray areas where it's not quite freezing but it's too cold to do anything outside for extended periods.

    Saw this as it happened. Insane play. I think the only catch I've seen that's as good at this park was when Heyward went dead sprint to the RCF wall and injured himself making the catch.

    Rizzo's decision making in Javy's body well, after seeing him on the team maybe it's more like Mike Moustakas's body I was going to say that Villar looked far more burly than I remember him looking

    There was a #44 prior to Rizzo on the Yankees. Oh, I know, not saying it’s a rational annoyance Javy's Twitter handle at one point included 23 (and might still), so I assume he would've preferred that all along. Obviously unavailable for the Cubs. That explains his Mets change but not his Tigers one since he's not wearing it for them. Bryant wore 23 in college, I believe.

    I can't remember specific instances off the top of my head but my memory is that this isn't the first time JD has made it clear what he thinks of an opponent without really saying anything

    Yeah Rizzo isn't wrong writ large, but he literally was offered more money by the Cubs than any of the 29 other franchises even came close to offering, so it's weird that he specifically is being such a jilted lover about this. Like if it was Schwarber, who actually did get better offers when he was cut loose, it might make sense.

    Another new-rule adjustment - seeing a pinch-hitter come to the plate and immediately trying to figure out who the hell they're replacing

    That was a spectacularly terrible throw by Happ to turn a 200-foot fly ball into a sac fly

    If Jason Heyward can get the Wrigley wind to do that every time he bats he might actually have a good offensive season.

    Oh he definitely was. There's no doubt in my mind at all. The home/road splits he had in his MVP season were pretty crazy as I recall. Pretty annoying because I always felt like if the Cubs could've gotten a couple days to regroup by winning the division they could've done some damage in the postseason that year.
