  1. If you're willing to walk a bit (15 minutes or so), once you get north of the Clark & Southport intersection, you can legally park on the street next to the cemetery without paying.
  2. If this dreck was the best Jed could do then he definitely should've abandoned all pretense and not pretended to try with the Seiya and Stroman signings
  3. Good lord these guys are terrible.
  4. Oh hey look I've had Tatis in my lineup all year and he's been injured, way to go moron I'm moving Bo Bichette from DH to SS, dropping Tatis and replacing him with DH Shohei Ohtani, and dropping Albies for Jose Altuve. Money should be neutral on both transactions.
  5. Wick came in and immediately dumped a big Howry all over this game
  6. Yan just took Yu deep.
  7. I don't follow college baseball closely to earn ND fan bona fides but that was a really fun series. Better enjoy it while it's there because FSU fired their coach and ND's coach played at FSU and lives in Tallahassee.
  8. I think they strike out less (anecdotal but I've heard it mentioned on broadcasts) but the weird thing about having significantly worse players on offense is that it doesn't horsefeathering matter if you make contact or not.
  9. Honest to God that single transaction might make me doubt Hoyer more so than anything else he's done. That signing was stupid and pointless from the jump and never had a chance to be even remotely decent.
  10. It's absolutely incredible that no matter what the hell this franchise does they suck with RISP. You'd think just by dumb luck they'd hit decently in that position once or twice. As I recall they were merely middling and not terrible in 2016 but basically every other year it's been a catastrophe.
  11. We clearly did not soak in the 2003 series win at Wrigley enough
  12. What a frustrating decision. Clint Frazier is likely never going to do much of anything but there are several completely useless players on the 40-man who could've been dumped instead. Even if you didn't want this to be the moment you got rid of Heyward, Andrelton Simmons comes immediately to mind.
  13. Do people actually browse the forum by going into individual subforums? They shouldn't, but you do have to go to the main page to mark all forums read, so you'd still be subjected to that headline on occasion.
  14. Not sure where to put this but reports are that Contreras and the Cubs settled at the midpoint between their arbitration figures to dodge the hearing that was set for today.
  15. The Cubs destroyed the league for 2 1/2 months in 2016, went 5-15 and people* were freaking out. *No judgement on anyone as, without going back and looking, it's entirely possible I was one of those people. I openly mused to friends during that stretch that I might be a monster for raising my then-unborn son a Cubs fan (he couldn't give less of a crap about baseball or any sport as a spectator, so this probably won't end up being a thing), which qualifies as the most insane sports-fan overreaction of my entire life.
  16. Good God Schwindel. At least 1 run directly pinned on his frying pan at first base
  17. How many times have you rounded 3rd base in your life, Sosa? At least like 3,000, right? That's an unreal blunder. Please win now and make it look worse
  18. Nico is on the benchDon't mess up my lame attempts to be funny with facts
  19. Madrigal really knocked the crap out of that one. Then again, the alternative was Simmons, who might well have a better chance if he took a tree branch to the plate
  20. Well, at least we know that needing back surgery at this early an age isn't a harbinger for long-term problems or anything
  21. I'm sure I'm gonna be fed some line about why it's perfectly reasonable Paul Goldschmidt is putting up his career high in slugging percentage at age horsefeathering 34 but I'm going to go ahead and call bull horsefeathers on whatever that line is.
  22. He does that almost every game against Milwaukee. You can tell he thinks Yelich is a cheating punk but he never comes out and says anything negative. I get a huge kick out of it.
  23. I'm so impressed with his plate discipline, he's gonna have a lot more staying power with the types of pitches he isn't chasing, especially in a more reduced role down the line. His take on the 0-2 pitch right after Willy told him to take a deep breath was legit one of the best takes I've ever seen in my life. That was a really good pitch.
  24. That was a tremendous moment. I horsefeathering love Contreras and I'm gonna miss him terribly when he's traded.
