  1. I'm not sure there's ever been a sports season that you would have to call a success that nevertheless featured more terrible luck with player availability.
  2. Immediately followed by the broadcast team only half jokingly saying they were surprised no one had gone at Angel earlier.
  3. How many horsefeathering fastballs down Main St. did this dude need to throw before someone realized that's all he was doing? Atrocious game
  4. Javy would've been in the dugout by the time the ball reached home plate
  5. Well, that one didn't work out for the acquiring team either, to be fair
  6. For a guy who "doesn't strikeout", he sure does seem to have 2 strikes on him every time upOh look, another strikeout and he didn't even have the decency to have it be on a pitch in the zone this time
  7. New rule - I don't want to hear from broadcasters that Nick Madrigal is a good guy to have up in a certain situation until his OPS is above .650. Another horseshit AB from him
  8. Jonathan Villar is also absurd but for completely different reasons
  9. Keegan Thompson is just absurd
  10. but they wouldn't be enjoying a wrigley day game because it's raining. Presumably they'd have time to make plans for the makeup game or sell their tickets if they can't make it. If its a doubleheader tomorrow or Sunday, at least they have more than a few hours to change their plans. Maybe they bought tickets to this game last week because they wanted to go to a Cubs game in the afternoon and a Bulls playoff game at night. Now they have to scramble to sell the tickets for a crappy team playing a crappy opponent in crappy weather. I suppose that's just the risk you take when buying tickets and while it sucks they just have to deal with it. But before this year (and 2020 with no fans at the games) I've never heard of moving around the game time on the day of game so I would've been completely caught off guard if I had tickets today. I'm not stunned about these drastic game-time moves if only because with the schedule already being a bit compressed I'm sure teams are taking pains to avoid having to squeeze in more doubleheaders whenever possible. In a non-lockout world I think they probably would've just sucked it up and had a rain delay. Although now that I'm thinking about it I wonder if the players brought this up in negotiations, that they would prefer teams move times around when they are pretty sure about the timing of crappy weather.
  11. I stopped using the apps on my pre-2016 Samsung in favor of Amazon Fire boxes/sticks pretty quickly. They were hot garbage. The TV was too, for that matter; it broke 5 years in. That has been my experience with most TV's and/or Blu-ray players that I have owned. It usually isn't even worth bothering with the apps, as they become outdated and obsolete much sooner than the TV's themselves. I have to say though that my experience with Sony TV's has been very good. My 4 year old Sony OLED still runs all the apps just as well as my Roku or Nvidia Shield TV. I bought a Sony after the Samsung crapped out and I would agree. I was OK using their apps for about a year and probably still would be, but because I was having intermittent WiFi issues I got the new Fire stick last Black Friday.
  12. Yeah, I have the same issue with Bally Sports here in STL. Seems like most of those very specialized apps aren't available directly through the TV. I know my pre 2016 Samsung doesn't support a lot of apps now. That could be the issue as well. I stopped using the apps on my pre-2016 Samsung in favor of Amazon Fire boxes/sticks pretty quickly. They were hot garbage. The TV was too, for that matter; it broke 5 years in.
  13. Hard not to love Alex Caruso. He saved the Bulls' bacon at the end when DeRozan was completely spent from being run into the ground by necessity.
  14. No kidding. Chavez is beyond toast, getting anything with even a scintilla of possibility of becoming good is a great job by Jed and Carter.
  15. Correct, he was IBB'd: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=suzukse01&t=b&year=2022 Yeah he was thrown 2 balls and then intentionally walked. A waste of his PA for the game. But that's still considered a game he played that he did not get a hit, thus the hit streak ends right? That's how I always interpreted it, but I could be wrong. Apparently it doesn't. This from Baseball-Reference:
  16. I could've done without that video of the Rays shifting right to where Happ hit the ball prior to the final pitch of the AB.
  17. Also, this is not news, but Giannis is just a tremendously fun player. This wasn't even that good a game for him but he affects everything whenever he's out there. Gravitational star.
  18. I thought that game was pretty fun although when your expectations are to get slammed maybe that colors the view. The Bulls missed so many shots that were either good looks (DeMar and Vucevic especially) or right at the rim. Game was there for them.
  19. Yes! 100% agree, I don’t understand that decision at all unless Suzuki is hurt and couldn’t play the field. If he was only intended to be used for 1 PA today and nothing else the 5th inning with 1st base open is a complete waste of his PA And look who pops up to end the game My guess is Ross told him he'd have the day off from fielding and stuck to that, but you're right, if you're saving him for a certain spot, that wasn't the spot. Stupid rookie blunder by a guy who should know better by now.
  20. Well that [expletive] strike 2 call basically ended the game
  21. A gapper for the lead here would be just dandy, Willy. Would hate for the Rockies to get away with walking 3 dudes in the inning
  22. Way too many guys on this team that are near locks for a GIDP in a big spot
