  1. They have a decent rapport but I feel like Boog kind of ignores some of the stupid horsefeathers Sutcliffe says with a mental eye-roll. Maybe I'm just projecting what I would be doing in that spot, though. Sutcliffe just is really bad at this, vacillating between making a relatively meaningless point he thinks is profound and vocally rooting for Cubs players mid-at-bat, which rubs me the wrong way.
  2. Some Keystone Kops horsefeathers going on this inning
  3. Keegan Thompson getting the start today. Heyward just failed to make a catch he really needs to make in center field.
  4. I've heard Lakers rumors as well. At the end of of the day, if the Bulls offer him the max the minute FA opens, I'm certain he'll resign. If the Bulls try to mess around and lowball him, he'll go exploring FA even if the Bulls ultimately offer him the max. If you want to be sure to keep Zach, don't mess around.... he has made it clear that he's looking for the respect of a max level contract. I'd agree with this. I don't know if Zach LaVine is a max player, but someone will give him the max. So if the Bulls want him they need to offer him the max or someone else will and he'll leave. If they don't want him - and I'd understand if they didn't - then don't. But don't dance around.
  5. Madrigal went on the injured list with made-up back tightness so we're at least rid of his ass for a week and a half. I don't know where JD is but going from him to Sutcliffe as an analyst is a little like going from a Learjet to the little dirigible from The Great Mouse Detective.
  6. Texas 83-67 Nebraska 81-68 That’s hilarious. The main difference is a wider range of results for Nebraska. They’ve won 10 games twice and 9 games four times in that span but also had a 3 win season and two 4 win seasons (I’m excluding 2020’s 3-5 record). Texas had only 1 10 win season and 1 9 win season but won at least 5 games every year. It’s too bad they don’t have a decent game this year before they play Bama. Would have been funny for them to have a good 1st win to get people talking about them being back only for them to get tricked by Bama. I don't know any Texas fans so I have no idea their current level of delusion, but I find it hard to believe anyone not currently beating or at least competing with Bama is going to talk themselves into having a chance until they see it at this point. Heck, it only took my sometimes-overexcited fan base one Bama beatdown before we started bracing ourselves at the concept.
  7. Drop LF Bryant, add LF Schwarber. It bumps me up $25 but I was $50 under already.
  8. I'm not sure where any of us are supposed to find hope when everyone who's actually important in the near term except maybe Happ has been godawful since Seiya's hot start - including the higher minor leaguers.
  9. How many picks are drawn? At least it gives us a chance at number 1 if the Reds keep up their pace. They haven’t played us yet though so there’s time flip us in the standings The first 6 picks are drawn.
  10. Friday's game is rained out. Split doubleheader Saturday.
  11. Seiya is officially a Cub now after that rally killing AB
  12. I mean, the Ross thing makes sense. If you have a mild injury and will be back to playing full time in 2-3 days, it doesn't hurt to have teams trying to guess what it is that's injured. If it's a back injury or something, you're probably riding the pine regardless. But a toe injury or something could still see him pinch hitting and getting pulled for a pinch runner. It's not the worst thing in the world to make the other team prepare as if he might be able to play. It makes perfect sense, but it's one of those things that will drive us insane if we're in a sure-thing pinch-hit situation and we end up with some 25th man taking the at-bat instead of Contreras. They used to do that kind of stuff with Bryant and Rizzo all the time.
  13. My God Gomes, you don't HAVE to swing at a 3-2 pitch in that spot
  14. To this point my most hated (on the field) Cub is Aaron Miles, and Nick Madrigal is displaying pretty much every trait he did so far.
  15. Corral definitely intrigues me, but to be honest I kinda liked the Zappe guy from WKU that New England picked with the pick we traded up from better. With the caveat that I of course know nothing
  16. The Sixers blew it up a decade ago after making round two and might, I repeat might, finally get past that round this spring. Blowing it up is far more likely not to work than it is to work. Better to remain competitive as long as you can maintain the flexibility to add a superstar once the opportunity presents itself.
  17. Starting to think Madrigal might just take his "Nicky 2 Strikes" nickname a little too seriously
  18. That was a serious bomb by Wisdom. Hopefully the not Robertson pen can hold a 3 run lead.
  19. And now because of that mismanaged 8th we get our first game of the year with the stupid ass fake runners.
  20. I can't horsefeathering stand making no effort to throw a competitive pitch to the #8 hitter just because there's a base open. Now you have to get Ozzie damn Albies or you probably lose the game.
  21. Apparently Lance Barrett viewed Angel Hernandez' strike zone on Sunday as aspirational.
  22. Wow, that was a hell of a catch by Demeritte
  23. Thank goodness Nick Madrigal grounded out weakly to third instead of striking out there
