  1. Why? I don't understand why every bad thing that happens in a college sports program needs to be addressed with pointless things like scholarship losses. The NCAA is not a crime-solving organization, this is not an NCAA rules issue, and the only people hurt by scholarship losses are whichever 18-year-olds don't get a football scholarship as a result of them.
  2. Yan Gomes is barely hitting any worse than Contreras is, and while I still think it's kind of silly to attribute better pitcher performance to catchers in a lot of ways, most of the smart baseball teams seem to disagree, so I'm probably wrong. All a long way of saying Contreras can stay where he is.
  3. I've noticed that too. I used Willie Mays for some really obvious square for him to be in a few days ago (Giants MVP, I believe) and it was under 15%
  4. I got 8/9 and it drove me nuts I couldn't think of Phillies/Mets. If I had I would've gotten a sub-200 rarity score, which I've never done. The new feature where they give you the most popular answer in each square is a great way to hate yourself when you can't think of anyone.
  5. I believe the rule is if it's something done in a single season (All-Star, Gold Glove, 30 SB) then it has to have happened with that team, but if it's a career number it doesn't have to be.
  6. I feel like that usually is how it goes, but I may be way off.
  7. As Andy Staples pointed out, any B1G or SEC job, even the lesser ones, is going to be preferable to any other job going forward just because they have more money than God at this point. I don't think NW will get some superstar, but the idea they could get, say, Dave Clawson, who has done a great job at academically focused Wake Forest without the resources NW has and is about to have, isn't crazy.
  8. He pitched against the Cubs for Cleveland. I believe he blew a save against the Cubs at Wrigley in 2009.
  9. I refuse to believe anyone who didn't actually see it happen could remember that got to 3,000 strikeouts.
  10. As long as they're able to resume soon I guess this is OK.
  11. That was a pretty fun inning. Awesome work by both Young and Gomes to make the Yankees pay for the error
  12. I'm terrible at stolen base guys.
  13. Boy could the second half of this season have a different feel to it if Taillon can be OK.
  14. Funnily enough, this is exactly what I did. They were the last 2 squares I filled today.
  15. All Jed had to do was not sign Michael Fulmer and Jameson Taillon to be absolutely worthless and this team probably wins the division even though they suck.
  16. Morel just launched a laser for a double (nearly a HR) and was grabbing his neck. Not leaving the game yet, but we really don't need our only significant power bat at the moment going down.
  17. I got 7/9 today, missed TB/LA. I would have bet my life that played for Tampa Bay but apparently not. ETA: Apparently he didn't play for LA.
  18. Tremendous victory. Odds are still against a real playoff run, but if one happens these two wins will be the fulcrum.
  19. Would really feel great to finish this off. What a freaking job by Tauchman.
  20. Since we need to feel better about things today
  21. Yeah I used a different name for Cubs/O's today just because I didn't want to use Sammy yet again. I used him at least twice already, including that June 21 one.
