  1. I got way too cute and thought Henry Rodriguez hit 40 homers in 98. Missing that kinda killed my motivation to go hard on the rest of the grid.
  2. I only got 6 today in part because of Bob Gibson and I also missed a stupidly obvious player that would've fit into 2 of the Royals boxes
  3. Yeah, that was a facepalm moment when the 'complete' screen came up. A lot of stuff between the mid-2000s and 2016 is pretty much a memory hole for me.
  4. I got stuck on 8. CIN/TOR just never came to me and I tossed Sean Marshall against the wall to see if it would stick. It didn't.
  5. 8/9 today, I incorrectly guessed Vinny Castilla for DET/COL so I didn't get to try DET/SD.
  6. I got 7/9, didn't even get to the point of making an Arizona/Seattle guess or a White Sox ROTY guess. Wasted a guess on incorrectly writing a 100-RBI Mariners guy into a ROTY Mariners square.
  7. That sucks. I've been pleasantly surprised not to have a Cubs ad patch yet. I know one is coming but at least I'm getting a few more months without one.
  8. I'm definitely not sure they don't have anti-hazing rules, that's fair. And they probably should.
  9. I know, but none of it was bilked from taxpayers (although not for lack of trying)
  10. I don't know what that means, but my assumption is that the Cubs aren't getting ASGs because they haven't bilked taxpayers out of money for a stadium recently, because that seems to be the main qualification for getting one.
  11. Maybe he should, but I don't think the NCAA is the entity qualified to make that decision. I would think a Penn State fan of all people would agree that when the NCAA appoints itself judge and jury over a matter they're not remotely equipped to handle it ends up looking bad for all involved.
  12. Why? I don't understand why every bad thing that happens in a college sports program needs to be addressed with pointless things like scholarship losses. The NCAA is not a crime-solving organization, this is not an NCAA rules issue, and the only people hurt by scholarship losses are whichever 18-year-olds don't get a football scholarship as a result of them.
  13. Yan Gomes is barely hitting any worse than Contreras is, and while I still think it's kind of silly to attribute better pitcher performance to catchers in a lot of ways, most of the smart baseball teams seem to disagree, so I'm probably wrong. All a long way of saying Contreras can stay where he is.
  14. I've noticed that too. I used Willie Mays for some really obvious square for him to be in a few days ago (Giants MVP, I believe) and it was under 15%
  15. I got 8/9 and it drove me nuts I couldn't think of Phillies/Mets. If I had I would've gotten a sub-200 rarity score, which I've never done. The new feature where they give you the most popular answer in each square is a great way to hate yourself when you can't think of anyone.
  16. I believe the rule is if it's something done in a single season (All-Star, Gold Glove, 30 SB) then it has to have happened with that team, but if it's a career number it doesn't have to be.
  17. I feel like that usually is how it goes, but I may be way off.
  18. As Andy Staples pointed out, any B1G or SEC job, even the lesser ones, is going to be preferable to any other job going forward just because they have more money than God at this point. I don't think NW will get some superstar, but the idea they could get, say, Dave Clawson, who has done a great job at academically focused Wake Forest without the resources NW has and is about to have, isn't crazy.
  19. He pitched against the Cubs for Cleveland. I believe he blew a save against the Cubs at Wrigley in 2009.
  20. I refuse to believe anyone who didn't actually see it happen could remember that got to 3,000 strikeouts.
  21. As long as they're able to resume soon I guess this is OK.
  22. That was a pretty fun inning. Awesome work by both Young and Gomes to make the Yankees pay for the error
  23. I'm terrible at stolen base guys.
