  1. Oh look, we pitched to their only good player again
  2. Couple really nice plays by Candelario this inning
  3. I had no idea he won an MVP, so kudos. Hilariously, enough my pick was and the rarity score was even better for him (0.2%). I only got 6/9, though. Being 10 years older than I am (or at least getting into baseball sooner than I did) seems to be a huge advantage in this game
  4. As has been discussed here, his lack of defensive value makes him a less good player than Javy (and also gives him fewer chances to do cool stuff like Javy did) but he's as close as I've seen to someone as fun to watch.
  5. All this time later it still doesn't feel right to hear Len so dejected when the Cubs do something awesome.
  6. What an awesome scene. Everyone there has great stories forever.
  7. Elvis Andrus hasn't hit for crap as far as I can remember so of course 2 RBI and a run tonight
  8. Cincinnati and Miami both lost, so at least there's that
  9. When did Yasmani Grandal become Pudge damn Rodriguez, what fresh hell is this
  10. How the heck did that happen? I thought the whole reason Atlanta was cool trading him is because he supposedly sucked at that.

  12. This is easily the dumbest successful grid I've completed. Each of my last 3 guesses were completely without merit and I expected to get each of them wrong.
  13. Pretty crappy stuff from Leiter, who seemed to be scared to throw a strike to a guy with a barely 600 OPS
  14. Am interesting grid today. I tried to get cute with Red Sox/Cy Young, otherwise I'd have probably had it. Also, I would never in a million years have guessed the most recent correct answer for that square.
  15. Cody and Dansby have been quite the duo. Not often you see a guy blast a foul ball homer and immediately straighten it out for a dinger the next pitch.
  16. I might just have to retire after today. Score of 62. I had absolutely no idea if the lower-right corner was correct. I just couldn't think of anything else and took a wild stab in the dark hoping I'd just forgotten he played for the Marlins.
  17. Ross wanted an excuse to horsefeathers bunt so he put in Madrigal. Never mind that he probably gave us the best chance of anyone to get that run in the way he's swinging it.
  18. For the love of horsefeathers God stop horsefeathers bunting
  19. I know these guys are older than I am and I'm sure there are voice-related issues, but if I had become a PBP broadcaster like I wanted to, I would've hated the idea of something cool happening and my not having the call of it.
  20. His first hit was a hit anyway, he just got 2 more bases from the RF being unable to get to it. This last one was also a very hard hit ball, tough play for anyone.
  21. Since this thread got bumped again anyway: The Atlantic Coast Conference adding two schools from the literal Pacific coast is the absurd ending this sport deserves. I don't know why the ACC would possibly benefit from this - under normal circumstances I wouldn't get why Cal or Stanford would ever consider it either, but they might just not have another option.
  22. Syracuse and Pittsburgh had announced they were out of the Big East a whole-ass year prior to ND's ACC move. That league was dead. ND would've happily parked their non-football sports there forever had the league remained viable, but it was not. (Also, football is all that matters, as we all know, so ND leaving the Big East in not-football had almost no effect on that league.) As for your second paragraph, this canard has been tossed around for several realignment cycles now, and it's just wrong. First, the idea that it's somehow Notre Dame's responsibility to stop the B1G from destroying other conferences or other schools from repeatedly shivving each other is so incredibly funny and rich I don't even know how to respond. Second, just for one of many possible examples, literally nothing about the demise of the Pac-12 would've been affected or stopped in any way by ND being in the ACC for football.
  23. I figured I could count on you guys to make a lifetime best rarity score of 81 still seem pedestrian. I wanted to use for one of the 300 save spots but I wasn't absolutely certain he got to that mark and I wasn't going to risk it. Save milestones are right there with stolen bases and Gold Gloves as blind spots for me.
