Are we so close to the tax that a month of any of these guys would make the difference? Seems like this would fall under the "trade deadline fund" Jed supposedly always has, and the Cubs didn't do much in the way of money at the deadline.
Someone pointed out in the other thread though that the AL teams get first crack so it seems hard to believe the Cubs will get the people they want.
God it drives me insane when guys don't throw strikes. I know it's not that simple but it will take 3 home runs to tie the game from when Hayes stepped in, make him freaking hit one
To double back to this briefly, Verducci said it was the most anticipated debut for a Cubs first round pitcher since Prior, which did lead me to wonder if we'd even seen one since him.
He was re-signed along with JD prior to the '22 season, so probably not.
I haven't enjoyed the Boog era as much as I hoped to, but unless Len is coming back (he's not) I'm cool with him sticking around.
I think everybody here understands who you don't want to start but you haven't come horsefeathers close to saying who should. Throwing Drew Smyly in a pennant race seems pretty damn stupid too given evidence at hand.
I was at the game and just now found out Ben Zobrist was there and shown on the LF board. Minor complaint maybe but I wish they'd show this stuff on the RF board too. I was in the LF bleachers and had no idea what the ovation was for.
