  1. Jayson Stark article Here's the Abreu blurb: For what it's worth, the Cubs aren't even mentioned as a possible destination. The article also states the Cubs won't be going after Soriano since arbitration is liable to pay him 10M next season.
  2. It's unimportant because USC isn't going to lose anyway.
  3. It's 56-51. Kind of amazing that we were up eight at the half with our leading scorer, Deng, having 12 points. But we've gotten used to that.
  4. That's completely ludicrous. Hendry would have given him at least 5 mil for 3 years.
  5. Was the next question something along the lines of: "But, Dusty, Corey Patterson was the single worst fundamental player on the team, and he came from the Cubs' farm system, what do you say to that?"
  6. Make this deal Jim, and I up the offseason grade from D+ to A-. Of all the teams to rob, I didn't think we'd get a shot at robbing LA.
  7. Not creative really. No more creative than the ND student section chanting "Small-wood!" for star NIU player Marcus Smallwood a couple of years ago at the Joyce. The genitalia jokes are always pretty easy to come by.
  8. Tell us how you really feel about Favre.... Give me a break, he's getting older yes, but he is still a very good QB. Kinda hard to have a decent year when you have noone to play with. You don't think his consecutive start streak is impressive? I agreed with you until you said his starts streak was impressive. The way this team is looking right now, there's no reason Brett shouldn't at least let Aaron Rodgers see a few series per game to see how he fits in with the offense.
  9. How many aging veteran/wildly inconsistent/unproven rookie relievers can the Yanks plug in to their pen before it isn't good anymore? They seem determined to answer that question.
  10. I did. I did the fan thing and picked my team. I think they'll go to the Super Bowl as long as they don't have to go back to Chicago. I think a Carolina/Seattle game would be a very good one however.
  11. The fact that Insider would consider Texas out ofthe BCS if they lose is ridiculous to me. If SC and Texas both lost this weekend, I'd fully expect them to be the two at-large teams to replace ND and O$U, leaving the Irish in the Gator Bowl as they were as a BCS-eligible team in 2002.
  12. Mabry was signed for 1 year, 1 million.
  13. That is why I respect Leinart so much. He chose to stay even though he could have left and instantly been rich, and in the process risked injuries or having a bad year (Although he does have a nice insurance policy, just in case he gets hurt.) Ihope next year I have the same respect for Quinn. However if he changes his mind and decides to go, I can't blame him one bit. I could not imagine having a decision like that to make. I have faith in Brady to stick to his guns and make the decision to stay at ND. He clearly wants to win a national title, and whether he admits it or not, probably also wants a Heisman, and I think he's willing to stay that last year to get it. I also think that, like Leinart, Quinn loves the college life too much to cut it a year short. I hope I'm not eating my words a couple of months from now, but I'm still about 90 percent sure that he's staying.
  14. Great work Tim. For the moment at least, NSBB is perfectly functional and it's thanks to your efforts. :)
  15. Just because Roy is gone, doesn't mean Kansas has lost its classiness (or lack thereof).
  16. Brady has already made quite clear that he intends to come back next season. I really don't see a reason for him to leave. Why leave now in such a talented draft class, when you can wait and become an absolute lock to be a top-3 pick next season, not to mention a possible national champion and Heisman Trophy winner?
  17. Ball State lost their star player for the season today. An MRI tells us that Peyton Stovall - the leading returning scorer in the MAC this year - is gone for the year with a torn ACL - the same ACL that he hurt in last year's MAC Tournament. This means highly regarded freshman Maurice Acker will be pressed into service as a starter. Just in time for Butler (who has lost to UM by 4 and taken O$U to overtime this season) to come in to Worthen Arena. :(
  18. The Packers have helped Carolina already this season by beating Atlanta a few weeks ago. Wonder if they can do it again this week at the Spaceship.
  19. Careless, at present this is the NFC playoff picture: 1 - Seattle 2 - Chicago 3 - Carolina 4 - Dallas 5 - NY Giants 6 - Tampa Bay Atlanta is left out having lost to Tampa and having a worse conference record than the G-men. Carolina can deal the Falcons' hopes a crippling blow if they can end the Curse of Ron Mexico on Sunday.
  20. Somehow I am starting to think Hendry may just escape being hung in effigy on this board, particularly if we get Furcal and a decent OF.
  21. Flames, watching the highlights I'm not sure you choked as much as they won it...that was a beautiful pass by Akron's QB with 10 seconds left. Gotta feel for you though, that didn't look like a fun way to lose.
  22. SportsCenter has reported a 3/18 to Flash Gordon from the Phils. Either Hendry looks like a genius or he's made this happen, but either way we suddenly don't look like we're overpaying for Eyre and Howry.
  23. This is getting ridiculous. I had something like seven posts in a thread because I was confused. I'm now running this in IE to see if it gets any better.
  24. Whenever I post I get a slew of errors
